So... aliens and stupid weapons? Why have I heard this before..... oh yeah, it's because it was in Saints Row: The Third and its DLC. So further proof that an entire game is built around an add-on. Nice! I will rent Saints Row "3.5". If they force me to buy an online pass to play local co-op, then Deep Silver deserve the same treatment THQ went through. |

@12 and 15 - you obviously don't know what it feels like to spend hundreds of hours on video games, only for it to all fall apart in 15 minutes. That's how long it took for Volition Inc. to kill off Johhny Gat (Spoiler? The game is 2 years old.) and ruin a huge part of the Saints Row story. Not to mention reusing the same city for 3 games and from the look of things, it's going to be a 4th. There's a difference between having fun and killing the fun. Volition Inc. and THQ killed the fun. Deep Silver are not helping heal that pain. |

"it’s a logical step within our universe for the player to become the President of the United States" :D Anyway the Sr trilogy has had one of the biggest fluctuations in quality I've ever seen. SR1: Abysmal SR2: Incredible SR3: Decent but surprising dull and boring in spite of the KRAZEE. Good to see they got a built in reason to alter Steelport. Hopefully Volition can make it not shit the same way SR2 made Stillwater not shit. Also pre-emptive LMFAO if Eurogamer don't condemn this game in their review for the same reasons they've slated Dead Space 3's DLC. "Clearly stuck together from existing assets, [SRIV] doesn't add anything to its [previous] game other than a punchline that makes it clear [the player's time playing SRIV] were ultimately a waste of our time." What with Volition telling the player in advance this whole thing takes place in a simulation I can see moaning about how some shit 'doesn't count' or whatever. Red Faction still has the best novelty weapon of all time: A unicorn that shoots rainbows out of its arse. |

@17 They're not using the same city, it was Stillwater for SR1 and SR2 and Steelport for SR3 and SR4. I think people fall into two camps... there are those who loved the more serious tone of the first two, and there are those who love the over-the-top sillyness they have moved to for 3 and 4. I personally love a free-roam world that aims to let you do whatever you want, and that is what they are trying for with 4. Hail to the Chief! |

@ 17: You were certainly involved in the story when you forget the difference between Steelport and Stillwater. The second and first were trying too hard to be a serious and you got a pretty bland story which only became dramatic because of character deaths. The third finally saw this and made the games object the one it should always have been: WORLD DOMINATION OF COURSE! The Third wasn´t perfect, I admit. The costumes were much less than what was available in the second game, the melee weapons are all the same with different skins and the city was pretty lifeless and the boobs, butts and bondage was rubbed in you face all the time. For stories you have GTA and for fun gameplay you have Saints Row. Just give me "Supervillain: the Game". Superpowers like freeze rays and flight, fitting costumes with capes, coats and overalls, some weird headgears and masks like fireman helmets, a story where you face of against a villain but loose at the end to come and try next week, a bunch of stupid vehicles from Star Wars like a Wheel Bike and all is good. Saints Row 4 could already be this game except on the story part. At least I hope so. If it doesn´t have capes I am going to wait for the GOTY anyway. |

"So you become the President, you bring a bunch of people from your cabinet in, you make a bunch of changes to The White House and all of a sudden this alien empire turns up called the Zin. They go around like the Borg and suck people in, turning them into part of this empire." Anyone else remember (and miss) when Saints Row was about a street gang taking out rival street gangs to control the city, and the game also had a rather awesome balance of silliness and seriousness? Remember when the Saints were ruthless killers who tricked people into monster truck crushing their girlfriends and buried people alive instead of little pussies who let people live in exchange for a small discount on shit? And now you're the president fighting aliens. This isn't even Saints Row anymore. Oh well, this series and Volition will be dead soon, just like Red Faction. |

| @22 I agree, there are multiple camps for this series and there isn't necessarily a "right" one. I loved 1, it was simple and let me be a criminal. I liked the simple weapons, but it was also fun robbing stores by bringing the clerk to the back room safe. I also liked breaking into stores at night, that was fun. I had my gripes with 2, but it was really fun. With 3, I hated Steeleport, absolutely hated it. Unless I was downtown, every area looked the same. I also don't like how the clothing system changed. I'll wait to judge this one, and while I love Saints Row, I'd like to have a little bit more logical choice of activities to do in the game. Trail blazing was awful. |

Please Lee don't compare the SR Universe to the GTA universe. Two completely different things, and as far as I am concerned, after playing SR3, I more than likely won't be picking this up. Especially after having beat SR3 in no more than.. 3 days I think? And an hour spent on each DLC. I remember 100%ing the game around 40 hours dlc included. After that, there was nothing to do. Everything was done and everything was found. Whereas in GTA I've clocked well over 600+ hours since GTA4 came out. With GTA5 coming up soon, I know my money is in good hands with R*. |

I feel like I'm the only person on the planet that likes the entire series. And for the people saying the first two games were super series, do you not remember having the ability to call up a zombie version of your dead homie? Or having a giant pimp hand that sent people flying across the map when you hit them? Or Insurance fraud? Or "Bullshit! That's last years Fall collection!" It really seems like hardly anyone caught the fact that the series has ALWAYS been silly and over the top. It's especially hilarious when people say that 2 was awesome because of it's seriousness. You know what my fondest memory of the game was? I walk into my buddy's place to come chill, and he's playing SR2, and he's in a flame retardant suit, on fire, on an ATV, ramming cars to make them explode, hitting shit to shoot fireballs, and listening to Men at Work's 'Land down under.' That was my FIRST experience with SR2. The games have always been and will always be silly. If you're looking for a serious crime/gang sandbox game, just go play GTA or TrueCrime or some shit. Saints is about fun, quirky, ridiculousness, and that's exactly how the people that love these games want it to be. |

What killed SR3 for me was how dead and lifeless the world felt, it was small and had no unique areas to go inside, nobody was out doing daily life, no boats in the sea like in SR2, no planes taking off or landing in the airport like in SR2, could no longer throw objects, no longer power kick people into space, the guns were all ugly and useles. Even if this one is way more fun the only friend of mine who also buys this has lost all faith in it and won't buy it, and can't rent it if it has an online pass just to play the god damn co-op. So either way I can't get it, unless they pull some amazing rabbit out of a hat and then maybe I could convince him to buy it also. |

I think its the right move for them, GTA has gone all serious & so to counter that SR went OTT. I felt SR3 wasn't as good as the previous game, BUT still had a laugh with a mate running throught it in Coop. As many have said, this looks like SR crossed with crackdown. Will just be a silly but fun OTT sandbox game. However it does have the feel of an expansion rather than a fully fledged sequel. Can't see me paying full price for it, but once I've done GTA5 I'm sure I'll get hold of it for a few laughs. |

@33 thats exactly what i mean, 1 and 2 were silly and over the top, if dont know where anyone got this serious thing from, SR2 was a hilarious psychotic gangster game with so much to do and see that i sunk hundreds of hours into it... 3 took alot of what made 2 fun and hilarious away and replaced it with fart jokes Id actually draw a parallel to the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy movie with it, original book - hilarious stupid book that would have anyone crying with laughter, TV series - an amazingly funny adaption of the book that cuts a load out because its for TV but keeps on with the stupid humor thats not completely just in your face trying too hard. Movie... "oh look he stood on a rake time to laugh" its like theyre taking it because it was funny and over the top and just trying way too hard to make you laugh more and its just not funny anymore... its an 18+ game aimed at 12 year olds |

Yawn. Saints the Third was garbage. It felt like cheesy pick-up-and-go arcade action. The storyline continues to kill of key players that makes games great. There are reasons why other games have characters that the player can connect with, it makes them successful. As for Saints 4, I'm going to skip it. I hate this because Saints 1 & 2 are great games and never grow old. My suggestion, Scrap this DLC game and bring it back to Stillwater HARDCORE. It seems most GTA/Saints games have gone soft. Bring it back with brutality, not suction cup darts. Until then, GTA5 FTW. |

Super Powers? Thats kinda killed it for me. Saints Row got crazier and stupider each time, Saints Row the Third was great fun, but was about as far as I'm happy to go with the stupidness. The DLC was just dumb. kinda like the devs just said "Hey lets just throw random crap into the game". They went for the shock factor to cover up lazyness. I'm sure I'll get this and play it to death - but..."mehh". Would love a more serious gang oriented Sandbox game. |

I will probably get this, but as somebody else said, it just doesn't feel like Saints Row anymore. I can't think of a game franchise that has changed as much as Saints Row has. Saints Row 1 - Take out street gangs, generally cause mayhem and take control of the city. Saints Row 4 - You're the president, there's an alien invasion and you have super powers. Seriously, what the hell are the Volition guys smoking? They really should not be calling it Saints Row anymore. It's evolved so much, they should just change the name and make it a new IP. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed Saints Row: The Third and as I said will probably buy SR 4, but I've got the feeling that most people that have supported this franchise since the beginning will just wait 3 or 4 weeks more and get GTA V. My prediction is that they will see much lower sales numbers for SR 4 than the previous games and either decide to reboot the franchise and go back to its roots, or just kill it off. |

They've destroyed the legacy that SR2 left. Good gang-related story and play and they've left it for some cyber-hacker bullshit. Guess I'll have to wait and see. |

I seriously didn't enjoy Saints Row the Third. Yeah you could beat the tar out of an old lady to buy a new gun, or fly a damn broomstick around with the DLC, but why would you need to change a franchise this much?! My favorite game of the series was, without a reasonable doubt, Saints Row 2. You could mess around and kill gangs without some weird-ass government agency coming to town and shooting the crap out of you with lasers. Even if it was fun it was still the most half-assed game I've ever had my misfortune to own. The physics were stupid, and the way they portrayed the gang members being goddamn steroid junkies wasn't even entertaining. You may already have inferred that I'm not buying this game, and you'd be very correct... |

| @54 I agree completely. But evolution suggests that the survival chances are increasing, while it's probably going to be going down the tubes faster than shitting out a Snickers bar.. |

| Saw the video at PAX East. Looks good to me. Everyone can quit whining. |

| Madness is what Saints Row does best. Lets be honest the concept behind GTA is pretty ridiculous, but the game takes itself seriously. Saints Row was just able to see the ridiculousness and capitalize on it. |
