Xbox Entertainment Awards Website Accidentally Publishes Details of Almost 3,000 Users

Microsoft has taken down the site for the inaugural Xbox Entertainment Awards, following a security breach.

The breach lead to the email addresses of almost 3,000 voters being published on the site, a screengrab of which was sent to MCV.

As a result, Microsoft issued MCV a statement, explaining, “We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with the Xbox Entertainment Awards landing page and have taken the site offline while we investigate.”

Before the site was taken down visitors were able to delete or edit each voter’s entry.

Announced yesterday the Xbox Entertainment Awards call on fans to vote for their favourite games, TV shows, movies and music from the past year.  All those that participate stand a chance of winning prizes including limited edition Xbox 360 consoles, Microsoft Points, and a "VIP experience" at Gamescom 2013.

We’ll update the story once the site’s back up.

Future of Xbox is in great hands! *sarcasm*

I am kinda annoyed. So quick to take down and fix a flaw in this. Why is it that 2 years has passed and their official forums still sucks donkey balls?

Yes, I have. No win no fee works on the basis of contingency. In other words the legal representative takes your case on the basis it knows it'll win. I guarantee no lawyer would take you on contingency.

@11 mate i think you need to check what you're talking about?

M£$£$£$ take my deets, show everyone. Lawyers 4 u (http://www.injurylawyers4u.co.uk/ ) take my claim.

Win . They get a fee. I get money. Mates its not even hard.

*Sigh* You've seen one to many ads on the TV sunshine. That's personal injury. Entirely different to this. Unless Microsoft turned up on your doorstep and smacked you in the face, no ambulance chaser would be interested.

It's not the suing, it's the winning. The guy is nothing more than an attention seeker with a track record of suing and failing. He also self represents.

Also, it's the internet, grow a pair and realize not everyone is nice. Idiot.

For someone who isn't illiterate, you spelled illiterate incorrectly. Discuss as well. Anymore too. You also gave me a link to American law. That GCSE is really working overtime at the moment.

Furthermore, you are not a 'patient' of lawyers4u in this matter. Your @5 comment clearly says 'if'. Therefore nothing's actually happened to you.

@33 "patient"? The word is "client", O non-"illitarate" one.

Might I also point out how hard you'll get laughed out of court for suing over the harm caused by the leaking of details consisting of your name, gamertag, email, and birthday?

"Your honor, I was traumatized by the e-birthday card this resulted in me getting. I DEMAND restitution. Enough pounds that they need to issue 1-Ton notes will suffice."

Sheesh, and we Americans are supposed to be the sue-happy ones.

On topic, and to the more intelligent people here: This is kinda annoying. I'd hate to get some of the spam mail that may have resulted from this. Not terrible, but kinda depressing that a big company would blunder like this with user data. Microsoft, I am dissapoint.

On another side @12 there's a reason why they are called INJURY lawyers for you ... They deal with injuries not claims as such.

For such a big case as Microsoft you'd need a full lawyer who you would need to pay by the hour.

I would just like to apologize to everyone. DADDY WELSH is a part of a breed of idiots that was accidentally released prematurely into the big wide world without any education and training. These people were not meant to be released until bait was needed for any potential zombie apocalypse. So there... We're sorry.

@43... Classic... Had me chuckling... Unfortunately these prematurely released seem to be getting out all the time... Maybe quality control in schools should be improved... I mean I know they always say GCSE's get easier every year but I think this is a blatant example.
