Halo 4 Castle Map Pack Dated For Early April

Microsoft has announced that the Halo 4 Castle Map Pack will be adding three new maps to War Games in a few weeks' time, with an accompanying 'Castle DLC' playlist supporting 6v6 teamplay and co-ordinated objective gameplay.

Developed in collaboration with Certain Afffinity, the three maps are medium-to-large in scale for vehicular combat and team strategy, and boast nine new achievements for 250 Gamerscore.

Check out the descriptions of the three Castle Map Pack maps below:

New Battlegrounds: Castle Map Pack:

  • Daybreak - Two UNSC bases oppose each other in this large asymmetrical map. Teams must split focus between attacking the enemy base while playing close defense to their own. Claim your team’s sniper rifle to cover the central Man Cannon, or grab a Warthog to push through the side channels and flank the enemy base. The Rocket Launcher and Banshee both spawn in positions diagonal to the starting bases; claiming their firepower early is crucial to land the first flag cap or take an early lead in kills.
  • Outcast - Controlling vehicle paths is critical in this circular map set in a desert environment. Outcast features frequent Mantis vs. Wraith battles, so teams must keep their drivers informed with constant communication to get the drop on enemy vehicles. While driving the Mantis, you can target fusion coils in tunnels to flush out camping opponents directly into your rain of fire, or cover your flag runner’s dash to a friendly Warthog. If you find yourself without a vehicle, race to the secondary bases to secure a power weapon or drop on enemies for a game-changing hijack.
  • Perdition - Blending long sightlines, vehicles, and close-quarters combat, Perdition caters to nearly any gameplay style. Wheelmen and gunners will be right at home in this urban environment as a well-placed Warthog can lock down a quarter of the map, securing valuable ordnances for the team. Learning the interior routes is essential to both escaping danger and finishing off ranged kills. Be sure to look for the Gravity Hammer in Power Station 3 – an ideal revenge weapon against a pesky sniper or a big surprise for an enemy Warthog.

The Halo 4 Castle Map Pack will be out on April 8th for 800 Microsoft Points and will be available as part of the War Games Map Pass. Check out the trailer below.

Maybe it will have the first good map in Halo 4.... Nah, who am I kidding. Halo 4 maps are awful. If they wanted a GOOD map pack, they should have just taken all of the maps from Halo 2 and made that a pack. Then we would at least know that we would get some good maps.

Then again, the greatness of Halo 2's maps would then be plagued the the awfulness of Halo 4's gameplay.

Nice looking maps.

One looks like a section from New Mombassa and the other from the first level of Reach.

Perdition is what has me the most excited, definitely getting that New Mombasa (ODST)/Terminal (Halo 2) feel. Gonna spend some time on that map ...

But first, I need to get the War Games Pass LOL

@4 Sounds like you've been man-handled in this game numerous times.

OT: Maps look awesome! Not looking forward to the impossible achievements, though.

@11, I just got every single DLC achievement last night in less than two hours. Get some friends up, plug in 4 controllers each, and go to town.

@18, really? Because Halo 2 came out in 2003? No, it came out November 9th, 2004. If they make an Anniversary of Halo 2, it'll be next year.

Good thing they're churning these out a little faster. I would like more remakes though. I understand 343 wanting to leave their mark and all, but most of the maps in H4 don't hold a candle to most of the maps from Halo 2, and 3 even. Nonetheless, I've found the past two map packs to be really good, among the best maps in the game. I'm expecting the same for these new ones.

Anyone know what they are using for the assassination at the :30 mark in the video? It looks like a blue glowing fist (not an energy sword).

I really wish people would stop whining about wanting the Halo 2 maps ported to the current Halo games. I love those maps, too... but I don't want the classic way we played those Halo 2 MP matches to be bastardized by armor abilities and the like.

343 should release Halo 2 Anniversary with ALL the maps (including those 2 exclusive maps to the PC version) and have it play EXACTLY like it did on the original Xbox (or PC) - no armor abilities or any other weirdness. The kids who were too young to have played Halo 2 back in the day, because they were still nursing on the teet of the GameCube, will see it as all new and exciting!!!

It would be nice to have a Halo 2 Anniversary and have all the maps portable to Halo 4, like with Halo Anniversary and Reach.

Good, Halo 4 lacks decent large maps (small maps are excellent IMO), hopefully this will make way for more fun vehicle skirmishes like in Reach.

I'm sorry, but even since I played Halo 1 PC, I never liked big maps. Bloodgulch excluded. If they were to bring back Gaurdian, The Pit, and similar ones to those, I'd buy it.

Looks interesting. I would love to get people together so we can get these achievements done on the day it comes out so that way i can have more time to enjoy the maps with the achievements out of the way. Anyone want to set up early with me so we can get it done when it comes out?

If a Halo 2 Anniversary is coming out, then they must release it with every single map, including the ones on the Halo 2 DLC MAP DISKS that were also sold at the time. In addition to a MP throwback playlist that keeps the same functions as in Halo 2 with New weapons or Armor abilities.

Look at all these butt hurt fools pretending Halo 4 is good. Numbers don't lie, this game can't even hit above 30K population anymore. The map pack spike will be done once everyone gets their achievements, right back down to 30K and less, just like the failure it is.
