Gears of War: Judgment

Gears of War: Judgment Features an Unlockable Second Campaign, First Vid Here
Written Monday, March 04, 2013 By Lee Bradley
View author's profile

Gears of War: Judgment will feature an unlockable extra campaign called Aftermath, detailing some of Baird and Cole’s unseen exploits from Gear of War 3.

The campaign takes place during the same timeline as the section in Epic Games’ threequel where protagonist Marcus is taking out the Locust Queen. But it’s only available via an unlock.

To access the mini-campaign, players must earn a certain number of stars, which you can earn in the main campaign by murdering in style - pulling off headshots and executions.

You can get a fuller explanation of Aftermath in the vid below, while Rich also covers the extra - and a whole lot more - in our latest preview.

Gears of War: Judgment is out on March 19th in the US and March 22nd in Europe.

This will, no doubt, be levels that did not make the cut from GOW3 - no thanks.

to #1 - So people b$%&* and moan about games not delivering free content and only through DLC for money. Game decides to include extra features at no charge that would otherwise not be there. B$%*& that it will suck.

How do you win?

At @2 - Because it's Cole and Baird's story. So they figured they give you some of when they go off to do their own thing in the 3rd game. It all has to do with those two. It fits the theme.

Yea this is actually awesome cause you get to see baird and coles part in gears 3, fresh content that they created, and on another topic the season pass is only $20, for 12 maps, 5 game modes, skins and a permanent xp boost

Isn't Gears Judgment just flashbacks that Baird is narrating? That's what it says in the other Gears story published today. It would make sense that this really does take place during Gears 3 and maybe something we didn't see, like Baird and Cole reminiscing about past times or Clayton or Samantha in their mission asking about their history triggering these flashbacks. Of course, we won't know until 3/19 what the real story is...

From Gears of War: Judgment Hands-On Preview – Trials and Tribulations:
"Telling the story of Kilo Squad as they undergo trial for war crimes, the story is told via a series of flashbacks narrated by Damon Baird himself as the action unfolds."

I immediately regretted watching this vid as soon as it is revealed that a character you may have thought dead actually survived and was in the Gears 3 storyline (so-to-speak). Huge spoiler.

Other then that I hope you don't have to max-out the star count to play this mini-campaign cuz that'd suck since id love to see what it reveals.

challenging? like throwing masses of enemies at you with shitty cover like Gears 3's boss fight? that's rather frustrating

Everything that I've seen and read about this game just makes me want to buy it less and less. It's a shame, I really enjoyed the first three Gears games. Oh well, I'll probably pick it up once its down to $20 somewhere.

So we have either cut levels from Gears3, or, we have planned dlc for Gears3, that's being included in this game.

:/

This game just seems to keep impressing me...

Finally. I said while playing 3 that I thought there would be DLC detailing Baird and Cole's exploits while they were gone, and then when I heard this was a prequel I wondered, "But what about their side story?!" Now I am happy. More Baird and Cole is always good.

LOL they make such a big deal about the declassified missions, but in reality... they're just side objectives... And not even creative ones. Having already beat the game... most declassified missions are just "beat the mission in x minutes" or "head shot x amount of people"....

Talk about hyping your game up to be something more than it is.

@5 I heard it will be 2 modes, 6 maps, and some armor & weapom skins + 2x permanent exp in VIP match types. How did u come up with 5 modes and 12 maps?????????? execution and 2 maps will be a FREE dlc like a week after launch but I think u are gonna fill people with false hope with that post.

This does not make much sense, shouldn't this have been released as DLC for Gears 3? it would have made much more sense if it was a second add-on campaign alongside Raams Shadow, or at the very least part of the Gears 3 season pass.

This news has really changed my mind on paying full price for this game, it seems like they are padding out their game with leftovers from Gears 3, worst of all it's extra Gears 3 content that should have been in THAT GAME NOT THIS.

I think a pre-owned purchase is on the cards for this one.

Why does everyone come to the conclusion that this is leftover Gears 3 content? Is there proof of this? Even if it is, at least it's coming with the game FREE of charge, instead of charging more as DLC.

There once was a time when one was in shock after finishing Zelda on NES for getting a whole new game on the same overworld.

A time before internet spoiled everything pre-release. A reason why I avoid all info about certain games.
Not this one in particular, but the 'extra' campaign reminded me of Zelda's little secret. :)

A shame that a lot of people take this as something purely negative. We don't know if this was meant to be in Gears 3 or not. We are however getting it free this time around and what is so bad about that?

I think it is a good way to get us gamers to get a bit creative during the ordinary campaign. : )

Looks really good.

A funny thing I noticed from this game is how much I hate gamers. Gears 2 and 3 come out and it's "same shit different game" and with Judgment they start making changes and people bitch "This isn't even Gears anymore!" .. Really funny.

Wow, when did gamers turn in to elitist arseholes? It seems that no matter what developers do these days, you all just sit there and moan about it.

This didn't happen before the world of DLC. If a game included something like this, it was always thought of a great thing, as it expands the stry further in other places.

You all think you know that this content was originally planned as DLC, because you have some warped sense that you know everything, and that nothing is done just a nice gesture any more.

Truth is, you don't know if this was planned. You don't know if these are levels cut from the original game. You don't know if it's all original content. You don't know enough to sit and bitch about it to inflate your online ego.

We live in a world where negativity reigns supreme, and it sickens me to realise that a vast amount of it comes from gamers, a huge community of people that I should admire and be proud to be a part of, than be appalled with.

First people complain that this game gets a free DLC (Execution -one).

Then they complain that this game gets an mini-Campaign based on Gears of War 3 for free.

I'm assuming these people want less than an hour long Campaign with expensive DLCs.

Seriously. Stop complaining. They could have easily charged from the free DLC and mini-Campaign. Be glad that they are giving us stuff for free.

This is amazing. We get to play the sections of Gears of War 3 that got cut from the final game because they weren't good enough for release. This definitely makes me believe that Gears of War Judgment is not just leftover DLC for Gears of War 3.

@35: I've noticed throughout my years of gaming that ppl tend to be the way they game.

'Lone Wolfs' usually only look out for themselves and shit on every one else just and gladly do it if they come out on top in the end (piss, bitch, and moan if they don't then blame everyone else or a select few in particular).

'Supporters' usually are looking out for their team in-general while doing what they can do make themselves a formidable player. They normally don't mind losing if they had fun and/or the match was hard-fought.

And then there is the 'Trolls'. They are self-explanatory.
