Report: Star Wars 1313 Put on Hold

The latest reports suggest that development of Star Wars 1313 has been “frozen.”

According to Kotaku, three separate sources “familiar with game development at LucasArts” have said that the game has been put on hold.

The news, should it be true, comes following Disney’s buyout of Star Wars maker Lucasfilm in November 2012. Though this is purely speculation, it may be that Disney’s plans do not currently have room for Star Wars 1313’s vision.

As far as LucasArts is concerned, the developer is denying that work has stalled on the game. "LucasArts has been working diligently to take advantage of the tremendous opportunities that the new Star Wars movies present," says the studio.

"Star Wars 1313 continues production."

Back when Disney bought LucasFilm, CEO Robert Iger said, "We're likely to focus more on social and mobile than we are on console." It’s another scrap of evidence that may support the report.

For now, however, until we get a release date, further preview access, or hell even a platform, we’ll have to wait and see.

  • Star Wars Battlefront 3, dammit!
  • Yes, lets just put the one game everyone was looking forward to, on hold. Idiots.
  • Seems like an odd business decision. It's a Star Wars game - as long as it's not crap, you'll make a fortune. And this one was looking far from crap.
  • It's not kid friendly. They make most of their money from toys.
  • @ 5 Precisely what I was thinking. 1313 was probably too gritty and violent to fit into Disney's "vision" for the franchise. Unfortunate because it actually looked pretty decent compared to the SW schlock we've been subjected to lately...
  • I don't think disney are the right company to take the star wars franchise in the direction i'd like to see it go. The original films were great as i was growning up. Episode 1 and 2 were average, very kid friendly. Ep 3 started showing some maturity and i would have loved to have seen star wars grow up. But disney is going to make sure that endor will look more like the hundred acre wood. And it makes me sad
  • @1 Never happening. Move on!
  • Kotor 3 would be much better.
  • Can't really say I care. It looked like any other third person shooter. I'd rather have a good Star Wars game, like another Jedi Knight, Rogue Squadron, or Republic Commando.
  • Big conglomerates like Disney, Microsoft, EA, always find a way to ruin fun for everyone.
  • It seems like it's possibly going to be Battlefront 3 all over again...
  • The Clone Wars series has spent 2 episodes dancing around levels 1312 and 1315. Could not be coincidence that they didn't spend anytime in 1313.
  • Well that was a nice dream for a while. Oh well.
  • Disney and gaming studios are like oil and water. Hopefully they don't close anything and layoff the whole staff.
  • WTF? What the hell are they thinking? This game came out of nowhere, and actually looked like it could give a fresh boost to the declining quality of the Star Wars IP... This makes me a sad panda :(
  • Plz god no! It was looking like the best Star Wars game in a long time.
  • @1....Yeah seriously, Why wont they just make that game already?
  • Goddamnit, if Disney denies a more gritty Star Wars game. Nothing good can come out of that.
  • Look forward this game lots and it is possible next generation consoles instead of current ones. :)
  • i guess 1313 was to "mature" for the kiddy friendly company.

  • "We're likely to focus more on social and mobile than we are on console." Screw that. I hate all these social an mobile games with a passion. Freaking casuals ruining gaming for the rest of us.
  • I'm not really that disappointed about this. It was more likely to be just as bad as the Force Unleashed games than a gem like the Star Wars games of old, given LucasArts' development track record. Most of the really good Star Wars games that have been developed by outside studios, not in-house at LucasArts.
