I still need quite a large room to play it in looking at the depth specs. Which is why my Kinect Version 1 is sitting in a cupboard after I moved house. |

| As much as I wouldn't like to say it the Kinect is here to stay. Honestly I don't mind all that much. My fiance bought us one because she wanted Dance Central and I'll use it for Nike+ Kinect to workout every couple days a week. I enjoy using it for Skyrim and ME3 just so can say "quick save" or a simple attack command. But that is it. The moment when I will actually have to stand and physically play a game like Halo or whatever is the moment that M$ has taken it too far. It works for games like Dance Central and hell, the voice commands are cool for Skyrim, but I'll be done with it if I'll have to swing my arms in TES VI. |

I had a Kinect,i thought Voice commands were pretty cool in games like Skyrim or Mass Effect 3(although not really needed),but the rest of it I got bored with after 2 weeks(if that) and how annoying everytime i powered up the 360 ..and also when watching something through one of the apps(BBC iPlayer for example),everytime i reached down for my drink the damn thing would pop up on screen...that was the start of me disconnecting it funnily enough,2 weeks was about the time I spent with my Wii before I was bored of that machine as well |

Why does everybody even bother venting about it? If you're not interested in using it, simple. Don't use it. I don't have one now, and likely never will. Even if it came with Kinnect, no one is holding you at gun point forcing you to play it. |

The current Kinect is still great for casual gamers and kids but it isn't going to satisfy any "real" gamers just yet. I have faith in Kinect 2.0.. maybe it will have potential for hardcore gamers to actually want use it. Who knows? |

I have Kinect, at home I cant really play games on it because I live in a small apt. I do use it for voice commands though like netflix, xbox dashboard, etc. I love being able to start a game while I'm in the bathroom or in the kitchen getting a drink. LOL When I do go on vacations with the family I bring it and we have a blast. |

| My gf's daughter and friend use it to play the Dance games.... the acting games were cool for a week or so. Other than that we don't use the Kinect much. I do like using it as a remote when lazy. Voice commands are a bit sketchy. The Kinect is a novelty that is worth it because the girls like it. Other than that no serious gamer would ever use it. Fable: Journeys backlash should be evidence enough. |

@3, Hi, my name is Doug and I am a frequent Kinect user. I can't claim to use it every day, but I quite enjoy the dancing games available for the system. I'd also consider myself to be a fairly hardcore gamer (as you might gather from looking to the left of this message). Not only that, but the first Dance Central game is among the most challenging games I have ever completed. So yes, people, including core gamers do indeed use Kinect. |

The thing they really need to improve is the depth specs - you need a huge living room in order to use it. I have to move my couches waay back if I want to play a game with Kinect. And even then it's a bit dodgy. Just too much hassle really for me to want to use it. |

Im not being funny but will people really not buy the new Microsoft console because it may have Kinect built into it? Thats the stupidest thing i have ever heard, its very much unlikely that every game release is going to require a Kinect to play it, it is just another addition to the console and will have its own range of Kinect games like it does now. I have a Kinect and have never used it, but i dont understand the hate for it! |

@30 I have a wife and child, but our daughter is only 1 and a half, not exactly the right demographic for games YET. Even Kinect isn't suitable for a 1 year old. I give her a controller with the batteries out so she think shes playing but I wouldn't call Kinect games TOTALLY suitable for kids. Just because people don't like the look of Kinect doesn't mean we don't have a life. I only game at night but I am wanting to get my daughter into gaming when she's older. Telling me to get a life when I already have a job and family, as well as managed to rack up 60K in 5 years? Can't see how I can do MORE than that. I'm not a casual gamer, or a serious gamer. I'm the inbetween guy. |

I didn't have any interest in the Kinect when it first came out, but of course it was given to as a gift for Christmas since it was so hugely commercialized and was the "big gifts" to give that Christmas season. I will admit I used it to navigate the dashboard and Netflix more that it used me to track my movements while I danced about my room. Eventually I turned the Kinect off completely, after it would fast forward through my television shows on Netflix when it thought it heard the show saying "fast-forward." The last straw was when I yelled stop and it though I said faster. All in all, again I doubt I'll be purchasing the Kinect 2 when it releases, that is unless it is mandatory to be bundled with the next-gen. And if I actually NEED the Kinect 2 in order for the next-gen console to function at all, and it ISN'T bundled, well then I'll just stick to my 360. (it would seem odd to have to NEED the Kinect 2 for the next-gen, and NOT bundle it, but then again look at the N64 and its use without the Expansion Pack) |

The general view of Kinect is that it is a fun novelty for a few weeks, then people return to core gaming. Forcing us to have one in the room won't suddenly make it the most amaizing thing ever invented micro$oft. |

Everyone is getting a Kinect 2 regardless of whether you want it or not. So STFU about it m'kay? You're not forced to use it. I've never understood the bitching about the new dash having 'ads' or the Kinect being for casual gamers...Neither is inhibiting you from gaming. I personally think some of the Kinect features are cool. I like how a friend was playing Dead Space and he give health to his buddy just by saying the command. You may dislike the Kinect OR never even gave it a chance, point is, don't condemn others just because it's not for you... |

Who actually uses Kinect? It was a smart idea but with all the fitness games which don't even work (lets be honest now) it soon lost the good features it promised. And there was hardly any features. A crappy voice recognizer, You have to have the same haircut, facial features for it to recognize who was on so it could link the profile. It wasn't very well made. Anyhow, If they promise all these things... maybe it could shape out to become a good feature with the 720. |

| @33 gun stringer, fruit ninja. I'm glad they're improving the Kinect and including it with the new Xbox. I'm a hardcore gamer and still love to play the Kinect every now and then, plus my daughter and my girlfriend love it and the voice functionality is awesome with Netflix and other video apps. There's nothing wrong with catering to hardcore and casual gamers, if you don't like it don't use it. I've never seen a hardcore game that told me I have to use my Kinect to play it and games like skyrim are a lot easier when you can use voice commands instead of pausing and opening 3 menus. I also love how so many people bash on the Kinect and also say they've never played theirs, if you care so little for it that you won't hook it up then why do you care so much as to comment on every Kinect article about how bad it is? Kinect sells, it has a following and people use it for a lot of different things, it's not going anywhere. Halo 5 is not going to be cancelled because Kinect 2.0 comes with the new Xbox. Stop being drama queens and either play it or don't play it. |

When it first came out I was a Kinect basher like the rest of you - but now I absolutely love it and will never regret getting one. Dance Central, Gunstringer, Avengers, YourShape, Rise of Nightmares, Steel Battalion, Fruit Ninja & even that Star Wars game are a blast to play. The voice & gesture control in the dash/games/apps are ingenious too. Even in its current state, it's a great leap forward in innovation for gaming - hardcore, casual, or otherwise. I look forward to the next one. Henry Ford once said: "If I'd asked my customers what they wanted they would have said a faster horse." - If the gaming industry listened to the opinions of the majority of the people on here, we'd all still be playing Pong. |

I use my Kinect, but only for certain games. The only ones that appeal to me are the ones that actually make use of the technology, the best I've played being Mini Ninjas Adventures. You can actually run around (on a line) kicking and slashing, moving rather quickly and the Kinect picks everything up. The rest of the games, like the dancing ones, I won't touch since it's nothing but "pose at the right time". Sadly, that's pretty much all developers make. I did enjoy Kinect Disneyland Adventures, but I need to wear gloves to get it to register hand movements sometimes, and then again, it barely used the technology. If they want to sell it, they need to make more than just shovelware and "pose now" games. |

| I have no problem with the Kinect. We used it a lot when we first got it but hardly use it at all now (mainly because there are no good games). I do have a problem with them packaging it with every console and forcing so many people to pay a premium for a product that they won't ever use. I see no reason why they couldn't split it like they did with the original Kinect. |

Great more rumors. Anyone with a remote amount of intelligence would realize that this directly contradicts the previous VGleaks release of "information." This says Kinect uses USB 3.0 while the diagram of the system says Kinect has its own dedicated port. One of these sources is wrong. Actually, they're probably both wrong. VGleaks pops out of nowhere, puts a bunch of ads on their website, and then comes out with great leaks which can't be substantiated. Now they're really soaking in all those hundreds of thousands in ad revenue by releasing made-up specs every so often. |

You kinect haters fail to realize that some of us use it for the dashboard and for watching movies late at night with out the need for a remote or a controller. I bought mine just to use it for the dashboard and apps and I sure as hell don't regret it one bit dispite the fact the only games I have played on it are Haunt, Wreckater, Kinect fun labs and Kinect adventures. Not much into motion gaming myself but Kinect Adventures wasn't half bad actually. It's one thing if you arn't intrested in it, fine. But this hatred I am reading borderlines on complete ignorance. bet they box the new kinect with the "xbox 720" to justify the $800 price tag. Of course, idk the price, or name, of the next console but i have a weird feeling it'll be pretty expensive (ps3 was around $800 depending on which one you bought). TBH, im going to look at the plans for online before i decide on which i will purchase first (ps3 or xbox 360). If xbox live stays at the same price (around $60) ill buy it first, since it is what my friends play... but, if microsoft raises the price of xbox live, and psn remains free, you better believe "xbox 720" will be the last next-gen console i purchase. This gen, i was all about the xbox (i have a ps3, i just have only played one game ever on it MGS4/back when it released, since then i've only used it for blu-ray). Next gen, i have a feeling, ill be all about the ps4. |

| I'm waiting to see about the games blocked with only one system. If it's done for both, I'll play on my PC. Steam use more or less the same method but as the advantage to sell the games far cheaper after a few months. |

No, no, no, no, no. I will not be installing Microsoft's personal spycam anywhere in my house. And if the new Xbox requires it to be hooked up, then that will be one platform I will be skipping, thank you very much. |

Next-gen xbox console is going to cost $400? Now I'm wondering how much $/space does the built-in Kinect 2 takes up? If lets say $100. Microsoft should design 1 type of model specially for customers who don't use the Kinect. Then spend the remaining space and extra $100's on improving the existing console specs. Ex: RAM speed, CPU speed, better graphics card, etc. That's what I'm interested in. |

| #22 probably only uses it for the easy gamerscore, there's nothing hardcore about kinect, it's for those ignorant families that buy into it because it SOUNDS good. Having a giant gamerscore doesn't necessarily mean your hardcore. |

| If they force kinect on people I will be FORCED not to buy the new console. I sit in an especially closed space that I can punch all 3 monitors yes THREE with my fist if I flail it around. Even if I didnt hate the kinect with a dying passion I wouldnt be able to use it with my current setup. I DONT WANT IT, I dont want more useless shite clogging up my room. Hopefully someone may find a way to build some third party plug to let you actually play VIDEO GAMES, and not this gimmicky bullshit generation of utterly useless shite games. |

@81 Haha lol theres probably so much truth in that! I hope its not required to have this new kinect, the only good thing about kinect tho was the ability to shout 'quick save' lol. And you cant use it if you have any friends round unless you all sit in silence! And also even kids get bored of it really quick, thats why mine gathered dust n got sold on ebay |

LOL @ Kinect haters. so you're fat? lazy? too poor to have enough space? have no ACTUAL friends to play in your home with? I'm sure one of these reasons applies to most. While I agree that Kinect shouldn't be forced on any player (I still much prefer playing with a controller any day) Kinect is FUN WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY IN YOUR LIVING ROOM as a change from non-Kinect games |

| Microsoft needs to realise that the majority of people don't give a fuck about Kinect. It's a novelty item, which got people curious initially, hence the relatively high sales so far. But most players haven't touched theirs since purchase. It's cool to work on it for the casual gamers, but don't waste time with trying to promote a product no-one truly cares about. |

To #76. Its quite harsh to accuse families of being ignorant when they bought kinect. I think you'll find its you that's ignorant for thinking your opinion actually means anything. I've used it with my very young daughter and she loves it, she isn't ignorant, she just loves it. I can still play my 'hardcore' games without using kinect. If you dont like it, dont use it, and if U have to have it kinected to use the new box, buy a ps4, sorted, U do have a choice you know |

| While I like the idea that the new Kinect will be able to allow for seated players to play games (I'm confined to a wheelchair), I do wonder if I will be limited in what kind of games I would be able to play. I don't want to be stuck playing Fruit Ninja (No offense intended. I'm just not interested in those types of games based on what I have seen.) |

...the first kinect could hardly work with one person, now they are boasting it works with 6?? The kinect is trash, the games are all trash and the console needs to stay controller operated. At least the PS4 is still a controller, even though it has move and touch capabilities. |

@61 I don't understand your point. You answered your own analogy...So what if a game adds in MP, they're not forcing me to play it. I may not like it, but my life isn't on the line if I decide not to touch it. That's like Bioshock 2. Everyone was upset that they added in a multiplayer aspect to it. Personally, despite the lag, I found the online to be great. No one was FORCED to play the online (besides the people that whore GamerScore and felt like they HAD to play the online, but those are personal issues...) and it certainly didn't subtract from how good the Single Player was one bit. |

I like some of the Kinect titles that work well (adventures, dance central games, etc) - they're really fun and great with friends... but the sad fact is that I'm just too lazy to want to use it that often. I run around after my toddler all day, so at night all I want to do is sit on my ass, have a glass of wine an press buttons. It doesn't help that it just isn't as responsive as a controller. #76 While I see what you're saying, try and complete some of the more dodgy Kinect titles like Motionsports and then tell me that isn't hardcore!!! |

| @98 That's my point. A lot of the people who comment on this site hate when they add MP to a single player franchise, they will complain and whine about it. I'm just trying to point out it would be hypocritical of those people in here who are telling everyone Kinect is optional, you don't have to use it, just deal with, or get over it, etc. and then go and complain about a developer adding MP to a game the next time a developer does that. |
