Dead Space Dev's Upcoming Game is "Fastest Greenlit" and "Most Desirable" Yet

Visceral Games’ next title is the studio's "fastest greenlit" and "most desirable" project.

That’s according to the LinkedIn profile of EA's senior director of business development, Hans ten Cate, who used to be a senior producer at Visceral between November 2008 and July 2011.

During that time Hans ten Cate "developed a concept with small team of 5 for AAA game that became the fastest greenlit and most desired project at Visceral Games."

The online CV says the title is due for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in 2014. That’s in addition to a further unannounced game, an action title.

Last year talk circulated about the possibility of Dead Space 3 being an FPS, after a studio job listing promised "a major opportunity to contribute creatively to an exciting IP", providing you're "an avid FPS gamer" with "previous experience as a Multiplayer Level Designer on shipped shooter/action titles.”

Even further back some were suggesting that Visceral could be working on a Dante’s Inferno sequel.

Dead Space 3, Visceral’s latest game, hit shelves a couple of weeks ago, taking the top spot in the UK charts and inspiring some solid, if uninspiring reviews.

	@1 - There's "Awakened" coming in March. And there's likely not going to be a DI sequel. Warren Price, one of the fellows from Visceral, was asked about it on Twitter and he said there wouldn't be because virtually all of the original DI team is gone from Visceral now.

	I would be totally fine with another Dante's Inferno game. I thought the original was pretty solid.

	Well, pardon me if I don't get stoked for a sequel to Dante's Inferno, a game that is heavily derived from God of War with a strong, easily-identifiable source material to make up for its blatant imitative design. The game has a 73 on metacritic, though it did manage to sell 2 million copies across two platforms. I could see EA greenlighting a Dante's Inferno sequel because if nothing else, you're virtually guaranteed sales from lore fanatics and God of War fans but I don't understand why anyone at Visceral would be enthused by that project. The Dead Space universe is far superior in terms of new possibilities and alternate directions they could take. Its most likely a Dead Space spin-off or if EA decides to take a complete 180...maybe a reboot of The Bard's Tale. If memory serves they still own the rights to that IP.

	Fuck EA. They are going down the same path Activision did when they fucked up CoD. CoD4 was good, but then they milked the shit out of it and now the cow is a whore. Same is happening with Dead Space. DS2 was excellent, but now DS3 is basically Gears a la CoD. The game is fine now, but will get progressively worse and turn in to some massive-multiplayer human-shaped necromorph with guns horde shitpile.

	@11 are you an idoit? there is no similarity between DI and GOW. DI was a hack-n-slash, not a third person shooter...That alone eliminates any similarity. though the fact that you pay attention to metacritic that much says a lot about your taste (and possibly intelligence).

	There was never talk about DS3 being an FPS, and I said that in the article then as well. You just made a random assumption because it said an "exciting IP". Don't be Kotaku, citing your own assumptions as rumors/news. Also, Dead Space was just dethroned by Aliens: Colonial Marines, so I don't really trust the UK with buying games.

	@13 What planet are you from that considers God of War a third-person shooter? OT: Haven't picked up DS3 yet, but I will when my friend gets it so we can do co-op since I don't find DS scary to begin with. You can only jump out of a vent so many times before people start to catch the trend.

	@13 Congratulations...you just owned yourself on the internet. I never even used the acronym of GoW. I wouldn't use that on an Xbox website out of concern it would be confused with Gears of War. That tells me either 1) you didn't actually read my comment or 2) you have never played God of War. Also how does paying attention to Metacritic imply that I have bad taste in video games or low intelligence? You just owned yourself again. Metacritic is the compilation of game scores from all video game journalism outlets. It tells you essentially what every major (and minor as well) video game publication thinks about the game. It also includes a short aside from each review and a link to the full piece. As far as it implying I'm of low intelligence well...I must look like Braniac compared to you.

	Let's all cross our fingers together and hope that "fastest greenlit" and "most desirable" project doesn't translate into "another generic first-person shooter." And then let's cross our remaining fingers that that generic first-person shooter isn't what Dead Space turns into.

	#13, metacritic is an average. Which is more reliable than something like GameInformer (a mag owned by a company that lives or dies by game sales) or someplace like Gamespot where you've pretty much just got that jaded moron, VanOrd, reviewing everything with an iron fist like it's his own personal entertainment to rile up fanboys and, as a result, generate site traffic.
