Call of Duty 6 to Drop in 2009 Written Tuesday, August 05, 2008 by Dan Webb Despite the fact that Call of Duty: World at War has a.) not only been released yet, but b.) hasn't even got a release date, does not stop Activision from announcing that the next installment (after this one) will drop in 2009. In an earnings conference call last week, Activision Blizzard's CEO, Bobby Kotick confirmed that the 6th title in the Call of Duty series was planned to touch down in 2009 and fans favourite, Infinity Ward will be back at the helm. Having the jungle combat tested by Treyarch makes perfect sense, see what they do right, improve on what they don't. Think of World at War as a cross between a beta and an expansion pack. I traded COD4, COD3, Spider-Man3 and Lost Planet and all I had to pay for BF BC was a dollar. BF BC is really more of what I'm looking for in a military game. The single-Player wasn't like "USA USA!" It was a very funny story about a squad going AWOL in search of a gold treasure. The multiplayer is balanced and exciting. I've had it with COD all together, there is no point in really getting them because now they're just getting predictable and stale. Battlefield Bad Company was a bite into something fresh and fun. |

They are milking the series too much and in my opinion, although I enjoyed cod4, after cod2 the series has just gone downhill, Treyarch have been much better developers in my opinion and I look forward to call of duty : world at war. |

The majority want the modern era, proven by the sales and time spent on COD4, still the best FPS on ANY platform. Reckon i'll get COD5 anyway just to see what they've done with it, but certainly looking forward to IW taking the reigns back for #6. Roll on late 2009 . . . . . |

Also yeah they are using the COD 4 engine, but they have stated a few times that they have tweaked it to make it better - so it can only be better than COD 4. AND.....for all you WWII haters (you bunch of sheep), if you actually take 2 minutes to look at the releases on the 360, you will see that there are by far more games in the modern warfare setting than WWII - so stop being sheep and form your own opinions for a change, if you are able that is... |

| Comment #116 by jalenp69 Friday, August 08, 2008 @ 06:08:26 AM yeah, the classics are cool, but the thing is, when your playing a WWII game (many of them at that) its pretty much the same thing, its something that actually happend, so you can't really build on it, except change locations, addition of weapons and such. but by making a modern combat or futuristic style game, you can make the game however you want, whatever weapons, any kind of story line. if you ask me, they should make a big call of duty game, that starts in WWI, and eventually works its way throughout the near future. i'd pay 100 bucks for that |
