  • Crimson kill that motherfucker!!!
  • Hey, non-Halo fan here. I have a passing interest in the franchise and will probably scoop this up at some point but I'm curious about this Spartan Ops mode. Is it fun? Long? Something to look forward to? Is the storyline any cop? If I buy this in a few months can I still play episode 1,2,3,etc? I'm aware they play out on other maps from the multiplayer but I don't mind re-used environments as long as they're re-contextualized.
  • And the beat goes on...
  • @ 2, hey man, big halo fan here. It's not as fun as you would think. The Intro Cinematics are amazing and the dialogue is great, but the missions feel more like a "kill everything in an estimated 15 minutes and the mission is done" Each "Episode" has 5 missions called Chapter. They're fun with a group of friends and can take anywhere from 15-30 minutes apiece on Legendary Co-Op. Like I said, the story behind it and the cinematics are amazing though.. And yes you can play previous Chapters/Episodes whenever you would like but only by yourself/Co-Op, not through Matchmaking. The whole recycled maps stuff isn't as bad as everyone whines about.
  • @2 Its a decent length. Should take you about 1-2 hours per episode. But it is fairly repetitive and is really only good for experience. There's a cinematic each episode which are all very nice and most the story lies in these. As long as you have a gold membership you can play all 10 episodes for free.
  • @2 It's firefight with infinite lives, a plot and objectives (If only they could give us a normal/custom firefight mode to use withing the maps). I really enjoy it and hope this isn't the end.
  • LOL, I've only completed the first episode.
  • Are they all free?
  • @8 Yeah. Episodes 1-5 come on disc 2 of Halo 4, but you have to download 6-10. You also need to be connected to Live and have a gold account in order to play Spartan Ops.
  • Thanks for the response guys.
  • More easy XP!
  • yeah I basically play these for the exp, and the story second. With fast track you get almost 10,000 exp a chapter
  • id rather have an evolved firefight gametype these are boring and dont encourege any kind of team play. plus no achievements = lame.
  • @2 Spartan ops is fun as hell. As long as you have XBOX Live you will be able to access any chapter in any episode. The series is also pretty good. Halo 2 single player is widely regarded as the worst of all four but I recommend playing all of them. Fairly easy for the average gamer and a really cool universe as well. Halo 4 rocked - 343 did a great job with their first installment.
  • @4 wrong, episodes 1/5 were complete rips from multiplayer/campaign episodes 6/9 were complete rips from the dlc, the campaign/multiplayer So yes most of the dlc are just reycled maps which is why there currently free, there not 'popular' either since the population barely reaches 300 on most days, I'm pretty sure most people who play them are just trying to max out their rank as quick as possible.
  • "id rather have an evolved firefight gametype these are boring and dont encourege any kind of team play." Yeah, A game mode wherein player's have a visible tangible score that is used to decide who ultimately 'wins' the game, implying a competitive nature and encouraging 'kill-stealing,' that's a million times more co-operative than playing an Objective-based, story-driven, series of missions, done within a firing team of your peers, with the option of having extremely-custom load-outs, thus allowing each member to have a distinct role within the team. /sarcasm
  • @16 Because run/shotting is really 'story driven'. Half the maps are running from A TO B, the only story you'll get is in those episode cutscenes which you have to load up instead of going into matchmaking while making every player forced with every covenant have a rocket launcher or something similar, making it less varied in weapons while being mostly used to grind missions for xp. While co-op know mostly involves running after endless waves promethean knights randomly teleporting while people dieing for them to go away due to people being sick of seeing them. While ten episodes later barely making any progress to the story. Did I also mention that most of the maps are so linear that it might as well be an objective game? Then 2/3 of people are afk which makes it more fun since players are forced to spawn off them for long walks /sarcasm)
