| I have been an Xbox fanboy for as long as I can remember, but when it comes down to it the Playstation 3 is so much better now. The cost of PSN+ gets you free games, ACTUAL discount on games and offers a lot more than Xbox Live is currently offering. People need to look neutrally when the new consoles come out, and see what Live and PSN are offering, cause as much as the fanboy inside you wants you to buy a certain console, you NEED to get your monies worth when it's so difficult to get nowadays. |

The moaning is really getting old now. I've never used kinect in any off the kinect supported games, and I have kinect. If I fancie a dance ill go up a club or something, ms isn't forcing me to buy dance central now are they. |

Here come all the complaints that the Xbox no longer caters to hardcore gamers.
Turn Xbox on - put in disc - wait for game to load. There. Hardcore gamers catered for.
Personally I cannot wait for the next Xbox reveal. All the news so far has me excited. Yes the Kinect parts too. I do enjoy taking out my Halo or Skyrim disc and playing a few kinect games with younger siblings or drunken friends. |

I think I'll wait a good while before jumping into the next-gen consoles. Although I didn't buy a 360 at launch, the whole RROD fiasco has made me rather cautious when it comes to launches - worth waiting a while with your money to make sure there isn't a high failure rate, and hopefully you'll save some money from buying it later. Not only that though but to get a better idea of what the two consoles offer - when I bought my 360 to me it was the better option, but at this point in the gen the PS3 feels the much better option (mainly due to PS+).
I'll most likely pick up both consoles in the long run, but for now I'll just play the waiting game |

| I'll most likely get both a PS4 and a 720, but what we learn when they are both announced is what's going to determine what console I choose as my main next gen. If Sony has a better overall console, online and off, I will probably pick up the PS4 first and use that as my main console. |

The Sony press event has me curious too. They aren't going to reveal anything too big as then they would miss the chance to compete at E3. I think the best thing Sony can do is just outline the new online service skipping most of the detail, confirm or deny a couple of rumors (used games, new eyetoy, touch screen controller, etc) and show some teasers of first part games.
At the end of the day all people care about is what exclusives do they have, how is the console different, and how do you control it. |

its funny how most people are taking rumour's as truth about the new xbox so I also heard the newest xbox will have a robot that comes out and makes you snacks plus hot coco.
But as a few said I am curious to what the ps4 announcement will show I mean regardless if I want to buy it or not its great for the industry as that will push Microsoft to make sure they are doing there best not just for the casual but also for the gamers (as we have heard of blacktusk making 4 next gen exclusive titles) 343 is sopposdly working on a halo 2 remake on the halo 4 engine a new pgr game from a team made of original pgr people and burnout guys so so far the news of gamers is pretty good. |

| @16 Just out of curiosity, why would you stop paying for it when you're aware of the benefits. Would you not rather pay for PSN+ than for Live? I'm pretty sure the incentives to put the money to PS+ are a lot more of value than your Xbox Live membership. Not completely aware of how it all works because I don't own a PS3, but I stopped paying for live long ago when I could no longer justify my purchase. I'm 100% sure I could justify buying PSN+ though. |

I love the Xbox. But i won't let my love for the xbox have anything to do with my decision about buying the PS4 or the Xbox 720.
If Sony impresses me more than Microsoft, i will gladly toss away my GS. Microsoft has started to fill the 360 with so much shit that i as a gamer don't need... And if they are going to make the 720 ``An entertainment system that every household is going to need`` and focus less on the gamesystem then actually makeing a fucking game console, I will abandon the Xbox ship. |

@24 I constantly see folk banging on about PSN+ just out of interest do you think Sony will still be doing it nextgen? And what benefit would it be to someone like myself who has played 450+ games to date? Final question does installing it after downloading take the same time it takes to install off the disc?
Haven't used my ps3 when it took over an hour to install MoH Airbourne 4 years ago. Also do they have cross game party chat on the ps3 yet?

| I'm still clueless as to what to do. I have a massive backlog of games that I have to play still, but I know if I don't switch to a new console come release dates, I'll end up regretting it as they become sold out. But, I also fear I'll end up being one of many who gets caught in a RROD situation. As for my current games, I don't want to spend all my time playing them, just to make a switch to the new console and not get to have anything carry over. I suppose decision-making will be easier come the Fall when I can really debate and decide. |

| @28 I genuinely don't know. I haven't ever used the service, nor do I own a PS3. I can only assume that they would continue it though, simply because when it comes down to it the service is working. As for the games front, whether you've played a game or not, can you complain at getting it again for free? Plus there'd be discounts on a game that you've never played, at some point anyway. I'm not 100% on most things about it, but from an outsides perspective and a neutral point of view, compare the two services and draw your own results. I mean, how many free games do you get from Xbox Live? I have always defended Microsoft against the RROD, advertisements and Kinect, but it's hard to defend them when there seems to be a better service elsewhere. I probably would have bought a PS3 if the PS4 announcement wasn't around the corner. |

As long as they plaster the £40 per year service in ads and offer little to no incentive to keep gold (maybe they might actually increase it some and offer fuck all more), i'll be happy. Hopefully they can also entice some more little shits to play mature rated games and ruin everything too, that would be nice.
Hopefully developers learn from this generation too and charge £50 for each half game and another £50 for the rest of it.

i have both systems
and i pay for live and ps plus
plus does give you free games, but only as long as you have plus
and i do not bother to chat on games with ps3... for me does not work
now with live i can cross chat with other gamers
and thats more than a bonus for me
since i can get live for $40 bucks or less.. i watch for discounts
its a non issue to have it.. whats 3 bucks a month?

| well i think the future is with handhelds now. you can buy used. dont have to be conected to internet. no DRM BS, its portable, and just plain fun games. something consoles are now getting away from. the more i look at this industry. the more consoles are not for gaming. in fact, consoles have been multi media hubs for years. they are heading towards being a pc. which brings bigger proablems with hacking and such. i'm a 10 year vet on xbl. i'm done with this. i've moved into 3DS XL now. i'll keep my ps3 for blueray. i'm thinking of just keeping my current games for cbox too. when my xbox breaks, i'll sell off my games and stay with handhelds. nintendo has gotten very creative. so too have gaming developers. so for me, i'm not looking at next gen. which for MS is 2yrs away. |

@42 we have plenty here....i was firmly with xbox until 18 months ago, when every service i use became better on PS3, with better value
now i spend most of my time trolling, mostly because of how MS treats its customers, and how we pay the same, and get much less than with sony
i've since grown sick of controllers for FPS games, and thought fuck it, i'm going back on my PC, sod both of them...both communities are full of assholes, but xbox is so much worse, and i just think why should i pay more for games, then have to pay to play online (xbox) get less support and have to wait for everything to pass retarded certification (again xbox)
i've got loads of games on my PS3, barely played any of them, but i've barely paid anything for them either (£80 worth of PSN vouchers, 60 to PS+ and a few games i wanted) if it wasn't for the fact that i've grown too used to the xbopx sticks, i would play more, but i now find the PS3 sticks to be "bandy" for want of a better term...so i just don't get along with them

MS rep is full of shit, though in one way, whatever is said at that thing, it is irrelevent to the customers, we don't need to know the specs, whats the fucking point, the only people who need to know are game devs...quite why marketting execs are even allowed to speak is beyond me, surely they are irrelevent at this point in time, when they start spouting random crap, they just seem like bobby kotick...they should just fuck off and stick to what their jopb title says, marketting, sorting out advertisements etc, not releasing pointless statements or doing interviews
i won't buy either next gen console until they are fucking cheap, and have stopped breaking within 6 months...i've got my PC which will still look and probably run better than either of them anyway |

| @40 You can't predict the future so you can't necessarily say that will be an option. What happens if they somehow find a way to suspend the service? You can never guarantee what will happen. It's a very valid point, and I agree, the idea is convincing. However, I just feel that you can't guarantee that will be a case, so it's difficult to call it a strength. Same goes with anything I suppose, only time will tell. |

| Also, I'd say that the small niggle with PS+ (playing games as long as you're a member) could be something they address with the next step. Along with the updates and any other issues that people could pick out with the current gen. Ideally, Microsoft would do that too, but it has seemed very unlikely. Microsoft and Xbox has gone so downhill, where PS+ has just gone up. I'm staying neutral until we have more news anyway, just as things stand it's hard to say that Microsoft will be able to offer something worth paying a lot of money for. |

@Morris69 I respect your standpoint. You openly admitted that you're a fan of the 360, yet you see things objectively. That's more than what I can say for most of the folks here. I have all systems and I play them extensively. I see pros and cons to both PS3 and 360.
I have to admit that I'm surprised that I didn't see more of the "Xbox rules...and PS3 SUCKS" comments like it normally is. Kudos to the 360 community for that. More subtly I see. :-D
@45 Hell yeah the 360 has them. LOL The chill pill was taken today though. I commend that. The PS3 community has taken the aggressive side this time. It's understandable because a MS representative took a jab at Sony, the same would happen if it was Sony taking a jab at MS. |

I used to be a Playstation fanboy 1 and 2... I played the original xbox at my buddys house. Didn't wow me in the least...
I thought the controller was overly huge
The system was louder then my truck
huge system... it took up so much space...
overheating issues..And i leave my game system on for 5 days in a row, every system ive owned has gotten that treatment, and some handle it better then others. The ones that can handle it are awesome..
I just though my buddies xbox was a joke of a system.. i really did.. no redeeming factors at all.. not sure why you all got one tbh.. Graphics were not all that much better...
Then next gen came.. i got a ps3..it was good, i loved it, it was and still is my main media player streaming from pc to tv, it has gotten better since but...
I bought a 360 2 years ago, and the achievement system blew me away.
It alone is the reason i traded in all my 3rd party ps3 games, repurchased them for 360.
The trophy system on ps3 is crap.. it takes forever to load em up to compare The acheivement system is smooth, fast, doesnt take 5 minutes to open, and is funner, and the trophys are so .. hmm bland.. and slow to load..
As of today i play all games on 360, except Sony 1st party games(GoW, Uncharted), oh and Demons Souls. As far as media.. ps3 beats 360... both either wired, or wireless, the ps3 streams faster with less lag and video load/buffer

We'll see what these next systems have in store..
Sony better fix their trophies.. no lag when loading them or comparing them and less boring, they need to just copy the acheivment system seriously, or im sticking with M$Box.

@47 IS psn+ like xbox live? Where you have to pay to play online regardless? If that's the case getting free games while you are subscribed is pretty awesome bonus. I'd totally take the on xbox.
If it's free to play online, and that's all you are getting extra then that's sorta lame.
I bought a PS3 on boxing day, but I haven't played it yet. I loaded up RE6 and it sounded like it was wrecking the disk it was so loud.. so I have been a little turned off
I did look what free games where there at the time, and seemed even if I played a couple of them, it would cover the whole years cost. |

@52 Playstation is free to play online, but for the same price as Live you get PROPER discounts on games, free to download games and they offer all sorts to the subscribers. I know Sleeping Dogs was free the other day, like I said I don't own the console, I just go by what I read, what my friend says and what I've looked up.

With the security issues, lag, dropped games of the PS Network, PS3 has actually gotten worse over the years. he Tfailed wii ripoff (move) was a total failure. There is a reason PS3 sales continue to decline, 99% of the games can be played on XBOX in true HD, while many of the same games on PS3 do NOT support 1080p. None of the games are real system sellers either. God of War, Gran Turismo, and Slycooper are not system movers. God of War was a great game but thats about it. Uncharted was good as well but an aquired taste. The Kinects success at 24 million+ units has also pushed the system further. Not all Kinect games are great but with titles like Dance Central, Zumba, Kinect sports, there are a lot of fun games that cater to the casual gamer. Not to mention all the great uses of XBOX live. Yes its $44.00 per year (Amazon.com) but knowing my information is safe, the never lag or dropped games, plus the tons of other services, XBOX rewards, and yes there are free games as well....XBOX maintains the total package. |

@40 That's pretty much what PS+ is, a glorified rental service. None of those 'free' games you get are free at all, they're only 'free' if you have a PS+ membership, which you have to pay for, which really doesn't make it free at all. PS+ also gives you discounts on stuff to, which you get to keep. That's cool, but once again, you have to have this membership to get these discounts. It's not like Sony is actually discounting their stuff to make it easier for the gamer, they're doing it to get more people to sign up for PS+. If Sony was doing these discounts regularly, then that would be a different story, but they aren't.
As for Kinect, I'm getting a little tired of hearing the complaning about it. First off, what is wrong with Microsoft trying to get the casual market to? What's wrong with more people actually getting on the 360, to play whatever they want? Don't you think that maybe, just maybe, once these kids get a little older, they'll move up to more hardcore games on the 360? Guess what, in order for that to happen, they have to be introduced to the 360, and the Kinect is a good way to do that.
As for as that MS needs to 'concetrate on the hardcore audience.' I hate to break it to you guys, but they already have the hardcore audience. They've already bought 360s, and already play hardcore games on the 360. They already have your attention, so they don't need to do that anymore. Not to mention, there's been plenty of hardcore games that have come out since the introduction of the kinect. Production on hardcore games never came to a halt.
Focusing on just one type of audience, and that one audience alone is not a good move. Look at what it has done with Nintendo right now. They focused on only one type of audience for so long, and now it's hurting them. I don't want to see the same thing happen to MS or even Sony. That's why focusing on ALL gamers to me, is a positive thing. |

| You dont get to keep the games with ps+. I have no idea why people think its so good. I can buy any game on xbox live and keep it forever whether I have gold or not. |

| Sorry? Did I miss something? I just looked it up, as I had never heard anything about it before. You pay £40 to Sony, and you get free games! These include ones I previously paid good money for such as Bulletstorm, Resi 5, Arkham City. I can't believe that XBL know this, yet still try and convince me to pay them £40 for the privilege of playing a game online. And that's it. My Gold is up next month, I will not be renewing it. And now I see that Sony actually try and give their customers something back, rather than fleece them dry I am definitely on the fence when it comes to the next-gen. |

@59 What free games?!?!? You certainly are a 360 fanboy if you can glorify one consoles success and completely disregard the competitions perks as well. To say that God Of War, Gran Turismo, Uncharted, etc aren't "system movers" (whatever that means) is further convincing that you aren't looking at things objectively at all. Down playing great games and trying to play it safe by saying "God Of War is a great game, but that's about it". Well then God Of War is great game. Don't take nothing from that. I see that you praised the Kinect when its also an "acquired tasted" as you put for Uncharted. I don't know why people like you always try to down play great titles just to praise your system of preference. I have all 3 consoles that I play extensively and there are certainly pros and cons to ALL of them.
Also to those saying the PS+ is a glorified rental service. I guess I can say the same thing about LIVE. It's a glorified rental service to play online and have access to other formats that you may pay subscription for like Netflix, while it's free on PS. At least with plus you are getting discounts and good free games. 360 needs to do a TOTAL revamp on the Rewards system because it sucks. Plain and simple. I'm not trying to white knight for Playstation as I do have a 360 that I love. However, I'm not going to sit here and say that the 360 trumps the PS3 in every way, because that is far from the truth. Oh and lastly, you totally have the option to NOT get the PS+ and buy PSN games and KEEP THEM. I know we have some adults here that can see where I'm coming from here. |

| It's each to their own, always will be. You're free to make your own decisions, but I'm tired of seeing people complain about XBL and complaining about it, when it won't change. If you can see the benefits, then fair play, keep paying for it and doing your own thing. I'm not exactly willing to pay for a service I can no longer justify, especially when the competition gives me more bang for my buck. |
