That's fucking wierd, I was only thinking about this game the other day and wondered why they never did a reboot :S ok freaked out now!Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 08:04 AM
Legacy of Kain reboot?! Awesome.Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 08:10 AM
hell yes! fuck raziel tho just kain!Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 08:20 AM
Definitely going to be keeping my eye on this. A HD collection of the previous games wouldn't go down a miss either!Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 08:28 AM
@5 a hd collection of the entire series would be awesome and a new game wouldn't be bad either regardless if its kain or razelMonday, February 11, 2013 @ 08:31 AM
New Legacy of Kain game = Beyond awesome Legacy of Kain reboot = No,no, no...why? I hate this whole reboot fad with a passion! It isn't broke, there is no need to fix it. Just continue it!Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 08:39 AM
I likeMonday, February 11, 2013 @ 08:45 AM
@7 I agree totally. Plus, with this one, you don't need to entirely reboot it. If I remember rightly, the way in which Defiance ended, without wanting to go into details for anyone who hasn't played the originals (HINT - You really should!), could allow them to start afresh...Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 09:07 AM
SQUEE!!!! Don't fuck it up! And you best bring back Michael Bell and Simon Templeton.Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 09:08 AM
By the looks of it we are getting younger and hipster looking character models in the vein of the shitty DMC:Devil May Cry. I wish they would reboot it and keep the character resemblance at least close. We don't want a Justin Bieber looking Kain...Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 09:47 AM
@7 The reason for the reboot 'phase' in game making is simple. The industry ran out of ideas a long time ago, hence it made sequal and sequal after sequal... now, it has even less imagination and can't even think up sequals anymore... so it just remakes the series again in a slightly different vein. Though, if DMC is anything to go by, I'm not too arsed!Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 09:48 AM
My sweet prince returns.. They better not mess up Kain's design, and Simon Templeman better be voicing him. While I've wanted a new LoK game since.. forever, I have always been afraid of Square Enix ruining it by making the vampires into pretty-boys.Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 09:53 AM
Reboot? I'm cautiously optimistic.Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 10:27 AM
It isn't entirely that the industry ran out of ideas, it is that a new IP is a HUGE risk, so most companies are playing it safer, and putting out stuff that they know will at least have some market, same with the sequal stuff. It is proven to turn a profit, why take chances... look at THQ. They have taken some of the biggest risks in my opinion, and now they won't exist anymore.Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 10:42 AM
Daniel bryant says.. YES! YES! YES!Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 10:47 AM
Holy fuck yes. Just keep the cast, keep the cool design, DO NOT modernize it, and hell yes I am there.Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 11:06 AM
Yes please. Square Enix and Crystal. Please do it!!! I am sure it is generation console!!! :DMonday, February 11, 2013 @ 11:09 AM
A reboot? Yeah, I can see this being polarising. Again.Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 11:10 AM
RIP gaming industry. There were some good times, this isn't one of them.Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 11:23 AM
OKAY! got some coffee in me and my nerdgasm is over. now for the story I couldn't be more siked. though I don't really see the Soul reaver series as a "Spin off" as for the word reboot. Kinda so-so on it. for one the last game in the series left alot of questions un-answered. so hopefully it won't be an entire reboot. otherwise there will be alot of fans feeling let down. ( the only reboot I have been happy with so far is Castlevania. and thats only because they actually ended the original storyline. and yea I see a girly Kain or Raziel (pre being chucked into the abyss) I'll be pissed. and yea having Bell and Templeman back is a MUST.Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 11:31 AM
An HD collection would be great. Reboot is not a good idea, especially since nowadays it usually means completely distancing itself from the property that drew attention in the first place. Amy Hennig is just as responsible for the success of these games as the greatest collection of VAs were. If we're lucky, we'll get the voices but I'm skeptical that the writing will follow. However, if they nailed the writing and got the VAs and brought the game back to a larger world like the first LoK...that would be what this series deserves and what I remember Blood Omen 2 was supposed to be. Holding out a shred of optimism.Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 11:37 AM
Growing up and having played every LoC game in the series (including Soul Reaver), I cant wait to see what this turns out to be. Personally, I do not care if it is a "reboot" or not. The original games were absolutely amazing and I had a blast playing them. If modern technology can take over and make this at least an "A" level game, I am sure us diehard fans will be pleased. "Oh please help me kind sir....."*slash, drinks blood*Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 12:12 PM
"Alas poor Nupraptor... I knew him well. Well not really..."Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 01:35 PM
Been thinking about buying all the games in the series. What a coincidence that they're thinking about rebooting it.Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 02:50 PM
please be true... :DMonday, February 11, 2013 @ 03:32 PM
I really hope this leads to an XBLA version of the original.Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 06:02 PM
Finally one of the greatest Stories in the history of video games returns... and IT'S NOT AN RPG!!! HAHAHA! I'll be keeping my eye on CD! They do need all the original voice actors to return though, especially Simon Templeton who played Kain!Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 06:45 PM
Loved these games! The voice acting and writing was (imo) some of the best to date! BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THISMonday, February 11, 2013 @ 07:02 PM
Vae Victus!Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 07:44 PM
Overprotective Fanboys are overprotective. No one will make you play it if Square Enix "ruins" it. And no one is going to take your memories of the original games away from you, okay? Just relax and hope for the best. And when it comes out feel free to bash it without ever even playing the demo because the character models are too different.Monday, February 11, 2013 @ 08:34 PM
This is good. Gaming needs this.Tuesday, February 12, 2013 @ 08:37 AM
this is good news but i would not hold my hopes out to much been waiting years for news like thisTuesday, February 12, 2013 @ 08:38 AM
this is hopefull news and would be amazing. but im not holding my breath as iv been waiting years for the gameSunday, February 17, 2013 @ 11:10 AM
Looks like it might tell the story of Kain murdering the evil king to prevent the war, before realizing he made the future bad for vampires. I want it! Please don't change the voice actors and games roots (although RIP Tony Jay, voice of the underworld god) They need to also do a HD remake of the other originals.

Square Enix has registered a domain relating to the Legacy of Kain series, called War for Nosgoth.
The domain registration, for warfornosgoth.com, was filed on February 7th through CSC Corporate Domains, Inc.
Following the registration, a storyboard has emerged which purports to relate to a cut-scene from the game.
Posted by the artist Richard Buxton, the storyboard is labelled “Legacy of Kain videogame animation pitch” and was undertaken on behalf of a company called Passion Pictures in 2011.
Legacy of Kain debuted on PlayStation in 1996, developed by Silicon Knights’ Dennis Dyak. There have since been four further entries to the series, including the Soul Reaver spin-offs, the latest of which was Legacy of Kain: Defiance on PS2 and Xbox in 2003.
You can see the storyboard below. Legacy of Kain: War for Nosgoth is rumoured to be in development at Crystal Dynamics.
