| I think that as it's more or less a given that Activision will milk their franchises to the point that they become dessicated husks, it's not really worth bothering to announce if a new CoD is coming, and instead perhaps it's worth saving that energy for when they announce that one isn't. It'll be much more shocking. |

You guys do realize that this is by far the best selling game franchise currently running? It makes BY FAR the most money (except maybe WoW?).
So is Activision milking it? Yes. Should they? Yes. Do people want more? Yes. You don't. Great. Fuck off and quit acting like teenagers. Treyarch's talents aren't better spent anywhere else. Infinity Ward's probably aren't either anymore. There's no loss here, but lots of people get a lot of fun out of it.
This game should be made.
Oh, and I haven't even played the last two CoD releases at all, so it's not as if I am biased. |

| This franchise is showing no signs of slowing down unfortunately. It's pretty much a brand name now, just like Apple; next to no new additions, overpriced software which is basically the same as the previous installment, and the fanbase will buy into it just because of the name. |

For all those saying "i hope its world at war 2" that was a treyarch game the new infinity ward wont go near it.
Black ops 2 added some nice stuff to the story mode and that mode were you versus bots even zombies got a change.

You're all missing the point.
Activision is a major corp with shareholders. This news formed part of a conference call related to the company financials. Shareholders need to have information about future revenue streams so as they can choose to buy, sell or hold their stock. This is basic business strategy for any corp with shareholders.
What you're all seeing is this being a press release for a new game. It isn't - it's a statement relating to future revenue streams for investors which x360a has chosen to report on.
The only question here is whether x360a should class this as newsworthy to gamers and not investors. Of course it is. Do you honestly think they'd ignore it?

How many of the haters on here have every COD in their collection? Probably most i'd guess.
I like a game of COD now and again but its far from my favourite game. I certainly have plenty of mates though who only play this game 24/7 and from time to time its fun. At other times I prefer to get lost in RPG single player experience.
Everyone games different. I think many of here like to hate COD because its seen as the cool thing to do on here.
Its a decent game. Sells more than it should but that's not Activision's fault. |

I actually quite liked Modern Warfare 2. Is this because I never touched the multiplayer?

| I agree that WW2 would be a great setting. I haven't played a WW2 game since WaW, but I had a really great time playing it, and I kept playing it the longest compared to any other CoD game I have bought. Pacific Theatre was really fun, and helped create diversity between factions, because when switching between that and the Eastern Front it really made character switches timely and fresh, because the entire setting and mood would change. Lately the characters have been too similar for me to really care, wow the more I talk about WaW the more I want a new WW2 GAME! |

im sick of all the people bitching about cod year on year. yes their is minimum change in the games but it still is the biggest selling game every year.
also i guarantee that most of the people who say it sucks will be the people who buy it every year. i will admit i buy call of duty every year and yes it does annoy me how linaer the games are but i will never slag it off as i no i will buy the next one when i comes out.
i wish there was a better game out there but the fact is there isnt and call of duty is alot of fun with friends. yes the likes of gears of war and halo are great games as well but the fact is to many people have a go at cod year after year saying it is shit when they are the ones buying the game every year. if you dont like something dont buy it no body is forcing you.
i no this will get dislikes but i dont care people need to grow up stop moaning and get a grip to be perfectly honest. rant over :) |

| @110 CoD 2 is still my favourite one. The furthest I got into the series was MW2 and I hate the MW ones. CoD 2 and WaW are the only ones I can still bring myself to play. My cousin and I still play CoD 2 sometimes and it's still fun. |

I was screwed the last two years with Cod, if its MW3, BO 2 or Elite.

@136, I am sure a ton of people can sit and argue with you. At least probably 43.68 % of this site. I think when I played online on Black Ops 1 all the time, most nights 84.32 % of the people I met were adults, sure some nights maybe only 43.68 % were adults. But whose really counting? Those were off the people who had their mics on. So the %'s might be a little off.
I met a ton of cool people from playing COD. Just because kids get a hold of a mic and are obnoxious, you shouldn't write off a whole game (for that reason at least). EVERY game which supports audio you run into that. Ever wonder why they include a MUTE option?

I only got as far as comment #37, because minus one or two, I got bored VERY quickly at the usual tripe thrown around when it is anything related to Call of Duty.
But speaking of comment #37, I just have to say this is a perfect example of the majority of mongs who inhabit the gaming community - a type of person who goes out of their way to say something bad about a game, just for the sake of it and/or to look cool because others are doing it. 'Sheep' is what I believe gets thrown around when speaking about CoD fans. Methinks it applies to the other side IMO.
