Cancelling my pre-order, will get the game when it comes out but i only slapped a deposit down because it was meant to be out in spring, will use that cash on another game now.
If next-gen consoles release nov-dec this year then i don't know why Rockstar would make such a risky delay, even for a AAA game like this,sales will be impacted. |

I think realistically, we can look at this as a maximum money spinner for Christmas.
Why release a Triple A title in March when you can release it nearer to the festive period when folk have so much more money?
Also, (as is obvious) it gives Rockstar extra time to develop the game further and iron out a few things.
A good move in my opinion. |

| You know, this kind of thing bothers me with most game delays but the thing with Rockstar and the GTA series is you know damn well that whatever they are doing, it's only make an insanely awesome game that much better. I hate waiting longer but I am certain it will be worth it!!! |

Oh wait....nope, it's a GTA title, delays are almost a religion to Rockstar for these titles!
To be fair to them, they had not provided a date prior to now, only a vague release window, so it was never 'set in stone' (as much as these things ever are).
Also, I prefer a 'when it's done' policy for my games - if they need an extra 6 months to finish it properly, then they *should* take that time. I can wait - in fact I'm happy to do so.
This is the kind of behaviour we should encourage - rather than the rushed Day 1 patch mentality that seems so prevalent right now. |

If this releases close to the new consoles then I REALLY hope 360 games play on the new system. Or maybe there's secret plans to delay the new consoles until next year perhaps?!

@43 Traditionally, new consoles don't launch until 12-18 months after they are announced. Now that may change this time - analysts certainly seem to expect that it will - but I wouldn't bet on it.
I've written some long essays on why the new console will have backwards compatibility elsewhere - and tbh I cba to repeat them - but if it doesn't, I'll be very, very, very surprised.
However, if this is released around the same time as the new consoles, then I'm pretty confident there will be a 'next-gen' specific version available. |

Rockstar have already stated the reason this isn't a next gen game is because of familiarity with current gen hardware. They admitted that as good as GTA IV was, it was held back from their vision because they weren't used to, and didn't understand the technology available. Releasing GTA V on a console that they have mastered will mean the game can be far greater than what it could be on a next gen console, at present.
Now, stop going on about it being a next gen title, and join me as I wait mpatiently for September. Apparently there's been a 4 month delay, so not as long as GTA IV, but it did mean it was scheduled for May when I could have gotten it as a birthday present! |

Cannot wait. Spring 2013 got plenty games come out so I not mad if GTA V not come out. Hahaha patience for this one of top important games in 2013. Bioshock Infinite, Rayman Legends, Resident Evil Revelations, Dead Island: Riptide, Injustice, LEGO City Undercover, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Defiance, Dark, Gears of War Judgement, Tomb Raider, God of War Ascension, GRID 2, Star Trek and more in Spring 2013. That is plenty games to look forward. September have something to look forward and that is GTA V. But maybe delay again who knows. I agreed GTA games alway do since Rockstar Games want their GTA games to be greatest and masterpiece. Also they hoping to get one of Game of the Year list and awards. :D |

After Max Payne 3's constant delays and the fumbled DLC release schedule this isn't surprising in the slightest.
Come Sept 17th you'll still see GTA V ship with a number of glitches and bugs that'd make Bethesda proud so LOL at any who think this delay is for additional QA.

It's a bitch that they've delayed it, but hey it gives me a chance to at least make a dent in the pile of unfinished/unstarted games that taunt me everyday.
Plus I know it's just gonna make the game that much better, so I'm cool with it. I'd much rather they took extra time to make it great than do it the way so many other companies do, rush the game out and fix it later (if at all). Also as other people have said, at least we have a set date now. |

| I am hoping one thing is that R* research on their MPs in GTA V when game come out because you knew GTA IV got load, load and load crazy modders, hackers and cheaters around free mode all times. I wish those do not jump in free mode in GTA V. Risks though. R* should faster update patch to fix bugs and banned people quickly because they learned it from GTA IV so I am GTA V wlll bit more easier for them to banned those people and fix bugs into hurry then we expect. Well I hoping anyway. |

@39 : Not really true, the delays with GTA started with GTA IV.
Before, they were always released in October, GTA IV also has been announced to October then delayed to end of April and since that, most Rockstar games are now released in May. |

And something I forgot to say, let's face it, 95% of the delays in the game industry are not to polish the game, but just for commercial reasons.
They don't work on a game until the last day, the games are sent weeks before to be validated and such.
So when you see a delay of a few weeks/months, it won't often change something to a game (except when the delay is a year or more). |

Funny you say that. I was chatting with a Microsoft rep at a secondary school future education exhibition in London yesterday. Officially he could not comment on it but unofficially he said to me that the new xbox would be out in September October time. Does make you think. |

| If GTA:V releases on the 360, then we all get achievements in it.. soon after the new consoles will come out with GTA:V on the "New/Next Xbox", making them two games.. wouldn't that make them stack-able achievement-wise? they'd most likely have different leader boards.. since they'd be, you know.. made for separate consoles? I suppose this is the first console generation gap we're going to have to worry about these things.. since achievements didn't exist & online gaming wasn't as big as it is now on the PS2/original Xbox. (however, I still have my PS2 playable online, lol) ... We can only wonder... |

Good.
Releasing a game in this epic scale in the Spring would be waaaayyy too early & probably wouldn't do the game justice enough.
Think "Red Dead Redemption" or perhaps "Batman Arkham City"; those games wouldn't be the grand slam reps that they would be hadn't developers spend more time on the project than just saying 'Hey, let's release it now cuz waiting sucks'.
So I'm kinda glad that their working more on it, so that way it would seriously be worth the wait if you ask me.
That, and there's too much damn games to buy in the Spring, like "GEARS of WAR: Judgement", "ALIENS: Colonial Marines" and of course, "Tomb Raider". *McGrin* |
