This is how additional content should be handled! Never picked up Dragons Dogma in the end but have been meaning to for ages. Looks like this will be the edition I buy :)Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 08:14 AM
Awesome, this game is great and this expansion sounds pretty fantastic.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 08:21 AM
Every other company take note (minus Bethesda), this is how DLC should be done. I don't want 1 hour of new gameplay for $5. I want a big expansion pack. Shivering Isles and this are doing it right.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 08:36 AM
I would love to unleash my Ranger once again.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 08:38 AM
Missed this game the first time through so might pick up this version when it is releasedWednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 08:46 AM
@3 I agree with everything you said except the $5 part. Its more like 1 hour of content for $10-15...Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 09:14 AM
So, i sound stupid is this like a GOTY edition?, thanksWednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 09:18 AM
@7 actually nevermind i read it again lol duuuuh :sWednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 09:21 AM
Cant wait for thisWednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 09:24 AM
I'm not buying this one unless I know for sure the game will fully support my 1920x1080p resolution on my TV. Drove me nuts that there we black horizontal bars on the top and bottom of the screen when playing the game. Game should easily be able to support such a resolution.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 09:51 AM
So is the achievement list for the disc version going to have a separate achievement list? Or will it be like the original plus DLC?Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 09:56 AM
Looks amazing ! Wow !Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 09:58 AM
Damn, I literally just bought the original game like two days ago. Its already open so I cant take it back. Worst timing ever.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 10:01 AM
Capcom and free DLC? Is this the Twilight Zone?Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 10:02 AM
So let me get this strait.... Since I have been a loyal player, and still have my original copy of the game Capcom is giving me this awesome huge expansion for free.... OMG that is freaking awesome!!Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 10:04 AM
hang on so how much is the dlc only not the dlc and the game as i didnt see that mentioned aboveWednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 10:05 AM
@16 It didn't say it, but I'm guessing $20-$30.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 10:14 AM
so excited. finally some news about the expansion to my 2012 game of the year. good day!!Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 10:23 AM
@16 an 17 - "the original Dragon's Dogma will be able to download the Dark Arisen expansion and obtain 100,000 Rift Crystals, unlimited Ferrystones and the Gransys Armour Pack consisting of six brand new costumes for free"Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 10:46 AM
Very interest DLC story on disc. Will keep my eyes on it before thinking to get DLC disc. Dragon's Dogma is enjoyable action RPG in 2012. :PWednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 11:16 AM
Wow. This sounds like a great deal. Diff my hat to Capcom. Im seriously considering getting a copy of Dragons Dogma now as I enjoyed the demo.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 11:17 AM
Never thought I'd see the words "free" and "Capcom" in the same sentence. Nor did I have hopes for a decent expansion for this game....I just thought they would release more armor/weapon packs. I'm still a bit skeptical though.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 12:02 PM
This game seems to get a lot of praise and originally I was quite intrigued by it, I'm guessing it's worth picking up after all?Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 12:16 PM
@23 this game was excellent, and tons of replayability.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 01:21 PM
@20 it most certainly is. Was a surprise coming from capcom.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 01:30 PM
There's no free expansion DLC, the editor read it wrong and paraphrased it wrong. From Capcom Unity: http://www.capcom-unity.com/neilgortz/blog/2013/01/23/delve-deep-into-terror-with-dragons-dogma-dark-arisen-this-april The full game AND expansion are coming out in disc or digital download together, the expansion won't be available stand-alone. The free stuff for original owners are the crystals, stones and armor pack. That's why they say it's possible to export to game data to this version. It's kinda like Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4, but you can export your save from one to the other.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 01:48 PM
Yeah I think you guys need to cool it a bit. Just because a run-on sentence ended in free, doesn't means this whole expansion is free. My money is on the armor and stuff was free if you still had the game, and the expansion will have a price. Before people get pissed when they find out they gotta pay, because they bought the old version on the cheap rather than waiting for the combined version, we need some kind of confirmation on costs and such. Free expansion is nice of them, but I can probably find a copy, used most likely, for less than what the new one will cost. Thinking logically, that's not good business. It's one thing to make it free, and another to spend the money printing new discs and cases when they won't be making anything back.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 02:06 PM
Does it include all the on-disc DLC from the first game? You know, the 100+ side missions and customization tools.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 02:34 PM
@26 I knew it was too good to be true, especially from Capcom. So basically, we have to buy the whole game again if we want to play the expansion.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 02:42 PM
Crybaby cry, 29. PC expansions always have and still regularly do cost $40. That's exactly what they're doing here, except for first-time players they're giving you the original game for free. This is excellent for new players, and for those that already have it it's the same as anything else. This isn't DLC, it's an expansion. Console games rarely get expansions so you all simply don't seem to want to understand what is going on. Considering Amazon has not tried to sell the game for less than $40 ever, and only before Christmas was it below $45, this seems like a great deal to me. I'll buy it.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 02:53 PM
The real issue here is that so many of the users of this site clearly don't know how to read. The content sounds great to me. Are people seriously upset because they have to pay for an expansion?Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 04:07 PM
@29 No that's not what it means at all. You can buy the expansion separately...like any other DLC. This article is just telling you about a retail release for the expansion that comes packaged with the original game. You people need to chill man, its like you look for any little to complain about.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 04:25 PM
@32 Go see the original article on Capcom Unity: http://www.capcom-unity.com/neilgortz/blog/2013/01/23/delve-deep-into-terror-with-dragons-dogma-dark-arisen-this-april It will NOT be released as separate DLC, Dark Arisen is being released as a FULL game.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 04:31 PM
Okay then this article is patently wrong because according to how it reads, it implies you could buy it separately from this part right here: "Owners of the original Dragon's Dogma will be able to download the Dark Arisen expansion and obtain 100,000 Rift Crystals, unlimited Ferrystones and the Gransys Armour Pack consisting of six brand new costumes for free. Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen will also be available to purchase on disc and will include all of the content from the original Dragon's Dogma as well as the following Dark Arisen content:"Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 04:41 PM
Like I said, editors here often misread the press releases and paraphrase them incorrectly.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 05:42 PM
#25 Yeah it is were. I really surprises and I though Monster Hunter series were their most and main action RPG but now they bought newly IP od action RPG and it is good fun. Gameplay is great which is enjoyable, :PWednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 06:54 PM

Scheduled for release on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 from April 23 in North America and April 26 across Europe, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is the next exciting chapter in the Dragon’s Dogma franchise. Coming both on a physical disc and as a full game digital download, the title delivers a huge brand new area, missions, enemies and more, plus all of the content from the original game. Hit the jump for details, screenshots, and a trailer! Just off the Gransys mainland is the cursed Bitterblack Isle and it is here that gamers will discover an underground realm, complete with new terrifying foes to face and incredible treasure to find as they embark on an all new quest. Players will be able to take their characters to new heights, with brand new high-level skills and augments as well as all new weapons and armour sets. For those that missed Dragon’s Dogma the first time around, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen provides the opportunity to start their journey from the very beginning before tackling the all new content. Furthermore, owners of the original Dragon’s Dogma will receive the following for free on purchasing Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen: 100,000 Rift Crystals, unlimited Ferrystones and the Gransys Armour Pack consisting of six brand new costumes. Based on player feedback, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen will make the Dragon’s Dogma gameplay experience even more satisfying, with improvements such as easier travel and a more intuitive menu system. @30 I can see how it would be a deal for those who haven't purchased the game. But there are those who paid the original $59.99 for the game, and paying another $39.99 for an expansion is ludicrous. The most expansion packs usually range from $20-$30, not $40.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 09:02 PM
@ #38 Yeah, it's amazing how an expansion starts seeming smaller after you know the price point. $40 is alot of money.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 11:32 PM
@38-39 Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening was $40 and followed a similar route but didn't have the full game on the disc. This is actually better because you get not only the full game but the huge expansion.Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 11:51 PM
Hadn't got this game yet because it's still going for 59.99 retail everywhere around where I live, but this makes me want the game and the expansion that much more. I am definitely liking the added freebies too. From what I understand all I you have to do to get them is own the game? So meaning, everyone who has a copy of the game will get those freebies?Thursday, January 24, 2013 @ 01:34 AM
@#6 - When has there ever been DLC for $15 that only lasted an hour? (Actually asking, I refuse to buy things that are that much digitally anymore, and most of my games have DLC for $5-10, but I get it discounted). Though I have seen $10 - 1 hour DLC. But RE5 had $5 1 hour DLC. @#14 - This would be funny if it wasn't tired and stupid now. RE6 has given out a lot of free dlc (RE.net costume swaps, Agent, No Hope Difficulty). Granted, it was on disc, but it was still free (as it should be). ORC had free DLC, the original Dead Rising.Thursday, January 24, 2013 @ 04:24 AM
Divinity 2: Ego Draconis cane out a few years ago, then saw an expansion The Dragon Knight Saga. When they released the expansion on 360 they gave the original game an upgrade and released both the original game and the expansion on 1 disc and it cost $40. So this has been done before. Don't see why people have to complain about it.Thursday, January 24, 2013 @ 05:50 AM
Enjoyed this game but releasing add-ons almost a year after it came out is crazy. Most people moved on long ago and most of them don't revisit old games.Thursday, January 24, 2013 @ 09:11 AM
@6 I don't know exactly how long certain DLC packs last but I know stuff that has sold for 800-1200 MS points that totally wasn't worth the price. One recent example is ME3's Omega DLC. I believe that DLC is roughly four hours long and in my opinion, terrible in quality. Even without the latter, is that worth $15? I don't think so. I was just making a joke about the 1 hour part but in all seriousness, DLC today is typically overpriced. Compared with some standout DLC packs, its apples and oranges. Old World Blues is said to be about 10 hours long and has fantastic written dialogue. That's good value if you ask me.Thursday, January 24, 2013 @ 10:13 PM
"Owners of the original Dragon's Dogma will be able to download the Dark Arisen expansion and obtain 100,000 Rift Crystals, unlimited Ferrystones and the Gransys Armour Pack consisting of six brand new costumes for free." so much for that

Capcom has released the first proper, concrete details for Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, the hefty expansion for the sprawling RPG that takes your adventurer to the Bitterblack Isle, just off the Gransys mainland. You'll be able to export your existing character and save data over to the Dark Arisen expansion, with an array of new quests to tackle.
As well as offering a huge new area, new missions and enemies, you'll unearth incredible treasure as you face a new threat that's emerged from deep within the cavernous depths of Bitterblack Isle. Owners of the original Dragon's Dogma will be able to download the Dark Arisen expansion and obtain 100,000 Rift Crystals, unlimited Ferrystones and the Gransys Armour Pack consisting of six brand new costumes for free.
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen will also be available to purchase on disc and will include all of the content from the original Dragon's Dogma as well as the following Dark Arisen content:
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen will also herald the arrival of a new, more intuitive menu system and easier travel around Gransys. These improvements will be retrofitted for owners of the original Dragon's Dogma.
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen will be available on April 23rd in North America and April 26th in Europe for $39.99. Check out the cover art, trailer and screens below. There's 15 images showing the Elder Ogre and Strigoi monster in the gallery.
