Crimson Dragon Demo Hits Japanese XBL, Gets Removed, Someone Captures Footage

A demo of Panzer Dragoon's spiritual successor, Crimson Dragon emerged on the Japanese Xbox Live Marketplace earlier today before promptly being removed. But not before someone managed to capture some gameplay footage featuring soaring dragons weaving through the clouds and narrow canyons.

Previously known as Project Draco, Dan previewed Crimson Dragon way back in September 2011, when the game carried a tentative '2012' release date. Presumably the game will now be releasing on the Xbox Live Arcade sometime this year.

Check out the gameplay footage below before it's pulled, then keep your fingers crossed for the release of the Kinect-controlled Crimson Dragon on XBLA soon.

Saw the first few seconds and I have to admit I was blown away. I would say this is a must-have.

@7 Yes. But the devs already have plans for a retail controller based follow up that would be like Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Not much of a fan of crimson dragon but it looks pretty decent. Dont know if i wanna play through another game like this anytime soon. Fable the Journey sorta milked this idea of fighting for the kinect and now it seems tedious.

@1 and 6.
To the comment
"It's a spiritual successor from what i can remember"

The very first sentence of the article actually confirms this if you give it a read. Also, why are you kissing everyone?

Looks great visually. I'm still interested. Release that demo. Loved Panzer Dragoon Orta on the xbox.

Really gonna wipe off my kinect for this game, looks cool, support some dev who sticks to their guns and keeps this game on kinect.

@8 Are you sure about that? Saga was more of an RPG and while I would love that I think it's more likely that they would make the controller based game more in the style of Orta, which I would also love. I'm happy either way.

The sound samples are a bit poor, the wing flaps are too harsh, the side pop up is annoying and the explosions sound very dated but looks pretty good I guess.

To 16, you are right about that, but at least with Dragons you can befriend them with zombies you can't.

Question about the controls, do you have the move your entire body or just your hand to move the dragon around?

Looks cool. I did like Panzer Dragoon on the first xbox. But I'm not gonna play this with Kinect. Hopefully it's just a feature and you can still play it with a controller.

@15 Yes the dev mentioned he wants the follow up to be more Saga than 1,2 and Orta.

Reminds me a bit of After Burner's targeting system. Now if only it didn't require Kinect I might be interested.
