A new trailer and a few screenshots for Neocore's upcoming XBLA action-RPG adventure, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing have emerged today, taking the monster hunter out of the metropolis, sending him into the dark gothic forests nestled among the Borgovian mountains.

Traversing the deep valleys and vertiginous trees, Van Helsing fights monsters using his sword, pistol and arcane spells in this latest gameplay trailer, battling creatures from folklore and abominations created in secret laboratories by mad scientists.

Check out the trailer for a look at the gothic-noir universe of The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, which will also support co-operative monster hunting gameplay for up to four players. There's also seven new screenshots in the gallery. Van Helsing will be heading to XBLA soon. No specific release date or price has been announced just yet.

Is it me or are Arcade games kinda, using the word loosely, outclassing Retail Games? (I obviously don't mean Retail games are bad) But there's just so much more fun and value in them that they don't feel rushed and repetitive like most games on the scene nowadays...

I completely agree with you. Most retail games have lost thier edge trying to force a completeion date and sticking only to the same model they allready made. Arcade titles arw where i find most of my time these days. Way more varity and imagination used. I regret not picking up Hell Yea! yesturday :(

Darn. I was hoping for a 2D Platformer in the vein of Castlevania.

@ 12

No. Abraham Van Helsing was a character originally created by Bram Stoker in his novel which birthed the story of Dracula as we currently know it.

He's just an ultimate bad ass and the source of much bad ass vampire hunter inspiration since.

When Anthony Hopkins played him in 1992, it was fucking awesome.

Meh. Looks pretty and all but still, a top-down shooter/rpg game. They all look very similar anymore.

@5 It's because there is less risk involved with an Xbox Live Arcade title. If they try something original out on a retail game and it doesn't do so well there could be massive losses for the company. Where as if it doesn't do as well on the arcade then it's less of a big deal. So the retail games will use the same formula they know people will buy and keep churning out similar titles in order to guarantee a profit.

It would look better if it had Kate Beckinsale in it.

The visuals, particularly the spells, environment, and character models look very similar to Baldur's Gate; one of the greatest games of all time in my opinion. So I am extremely excited to see if this turns out to be anything like it.
