@6 they aren't cutting off the co-op spartan ops, this next week will be a collection of levels from the first five episodes, followed by repeating episodes 1-5 every week.
here's an excerpt from yesterday's Halo Bulletin on halowaypoint.com
"Spartan Ops will go on a mid-season break starting December 10. Fret not, though, because your entire Spartan Ops timeline will still be both accessible and playable. On top of that, we will also be featuring a Best of Spartan Ops compilation next week, made up of the following chapters:
• Core – Chapter 5 of Episode 1
• Hacksaw – Chapter 3 of Episode 2
• Shootout in Valhalla – Chapter 4 of Episode 3
• The Didact’s Gift – Chapter 5 of Episode 4
• Spartan Miller – Chapter 1 of Episode 5
Then, from December 17 – January 14, episodes 1-5 will be re-entered into Matchmaking (one episode per week) to support the Halo 4 Infinity Challenge, and allow anyone who missed the first run or wants to replay a previous chapter to easily find teammates online." |

Well if I remember correctly, 44% of the votes during the VGAs called for more maps, and 44% called for more diverse/interesting missions, with 11% voting for the third option. Hopefully they'll take the hint and make BOTH new maps and different mission types (because more than half of them are like firefight anyway...).
A best of...meh. I can see that helping people with achievements though. Personally I think all missions should be available at anytime, but that might spread the community too thin for a decent PUG. |

| I like spartan ops, but i would have really preferred a "Training Simulator" for ODST's On the infinity and justify NO SPARTAN FIREFIGHT. that was it was built on. Being ODSTs in firefight was way different that controlling Spartans. If a Brute With a Hammer approached you if you are a Spartan you happily die. BUT........... if you were a ODST and super tinnier than the Brute YOU would shit bricks |

| Cool me and my best friend will get it for achievements out of way and will have fun in between throughout new Spartan ops missions. We will only get achievements for this DLC because we will have spent time with DmC, Sniper: Ghost Warriors 2 and Painkiller: Hell & Damnation in January 2013 as they releases this time. So January seem to be quite busy time again. Lol |

I think this may just be me, but I'm not that fond of spartan ops - it's very repetitive and boring and I do not care for the characters.
Can someone tell me this why has FIREFIGHT mode from ODST been taken out of 4?! |

why take a break, well becaus3e we have the new map pack on monday
then we have christmas which the guys at 343 like most of us want off and want a holiday aswell

| Has anyone else been disappointed with Spartan Ops ? to me it was just multiplayer maps with bots and the occasional task, I admire what they were trying to do with it but I can't believe they ditched Firefight for it. |

@15 I agree I wish they would bring Griffball back too. (Unless because of Griff, because he dropped the equipment in episode 5, chapter 5 Easter Egg.)
Also it would be nice for some other gametypes too. Like maybe VIP. |

| @26. I believe the "fret not" statement was just a reference to the fact that the Spartan ops is "going on a break". You can still play episodes 1-5 on solo or co-op with a party. I don't see the achievements becoming unobtainable at all either. All of the current episodes are on disc 2 and 343 just unlocks them each week. |

| @27. Grifball will come eventually, its already available in custom matches. I saw on halo waypoint matchmaking game types, both Grifball and Extraction were being tracked. Extraction will become unlocked with the Crimson map pack next week. |

Sparton Ops is boring and I skip all the cutscenes because I really do not care for these characters on recycled maps.
Firefight was so much better, so much more variation. Fun.
I hope it returns in Halo 5 and they realise it is 5x the game mode that Spartan Ops is. |

The fact that you can't play all the levels publicly at any time is dumb anyways...
Other than for achievements, Spartan Ops is pretty boring. Hopefully they are taking the time off to make an episode actually worth while |

Wow, Spartan Ops recieves a LOT of hate. I have no idea why people are hating on it. No penalty for death. You can play it with your friends (instead of matchmaking, which I prefer). You can play it on WHATEVER difficulty you want. You can grind out a few commendations in it fairly fast. Nice chunk of XP for about 15 minutes of your time.
And people are wishing Firefight was back? SERIOUSLY? Dude, Firefight hasn't been interesting since ODST. Even then, it gets old. Even then, you have to have a dedicated 4-man-team to get very far in it with people running SPECIFIC jobs (like someone running heavy weapons and someone running shield destroys, while someone cleans up the shield destroys and the other player destroys infantry). Firefight gets old in a matter of ten minutes. Same thing, every map, every time. Same enemies every time. Same tactics to beating them every time. Same places to hole up, every single time. This isn't fun, it's boring.
I, for one, am happy to see Firefight go by the wayside. The only way I will ENJOY its return is if we can FORGE it next time.
As for Spartan Ops... I've been enjoying the story of it as well as the bits of humor. True, the first couple episodes didn't have much with just the lady saying, "If it moves, kill it" over and over... But once Episode 3 was released, it got better. I'm actually eager to see why they want the Librarian and what happend to our missing Spartan and Scientist. I want to know if we get to kill Jul'Mdama by the end of the tenth week...

Sparton ops is very cheap looking comparing it to Firefight, 10 minutes and our done with one level, its getting really boring, hopefully they wont be re-using all the maps all over again...
its sad 343 is trying to make big bucks with it, i mean think about it, your gonna have to buy every episode, how will our wallets look after 4 seasons? pretty empty i think, and 343 is laughing its mouth wide. |
