| I think the Walking Dead had such success for a few reasons, it has great story telling, its based on a mature theme, and it also gives fans of the series "The Walking Dead" a little more back story which pulls in fans of the franchise or people who are just interested in it. TellTale made a Jurassic Park game which because of it not being mature, had repetitive dialogue, cheesy "panic" sequences, and just wasn't a well told story. The same type of game, by the same devlopers with two different results. Basically, I think these types of games can be huge, so long as it has a mature theme. This also helps with creating the decision making sequnces more critical, and pulls us in further. |

From the less than 5mins I gave it I was under the impression it was a 1st or 3rd person game... Oops! I will definatlely be giving this another go!

Awesome game, Telltale are very good at what they do especially with the likes of Monkey Island in there back catalogue.
I'm only at ep3 at the mo, I'm slowly making my way through plus my missus likes to watch me play the game as its just an extension of the walking dead series.
Season 2 please! |

The story, characters, voice acting and writing is what made this game so great. Same can be said for a game like Dragon Age: Origins.
My #1 pick for GOTY so far. Those AAA titles should be ashamed of themselves with the budget they're given. |

While I agree that the Walking Dead was a phenomenal game, the reason it did so well is because it's a game based off the Walking Dead franchise. That alone helped it sell.
If the publisher had produced an adventure game with it's own IP, I'm pretty sure it would not have done as well.
I love adventure games, but let's be honest on why this game sold so many copies. It had "The Walking Dead" in the title. |

| The Walking Dead proved The Walking Dead had mass market appeal. Let's be honest, TWD is the only series at this time that could pull this off. We just have to hope now that TWD has opened the world up to these sorts of games again, people will give other games in the genera a chance. |

I like all kinds of games just as long as they are good. And Telltale's The Walking Dead is!! They managed to deliver a great experience (albeit lightly on gameplay) with interesting characters and though choices and consequences.
... and an ending that Mass Effect 3 can't even begin to dream off.
Perfect game for me. |

| Definitely one of the best games ever for me. I enjoyed every moment, and it gripped me like no other game has in a long time. I'd rather see it released in one go on disk, but if they can keep the standards up I won't mind. |

I love the walking dead, it's honestly one of my all time favourite series generaly now, it's managed to produce quality content again and again across multiple formats, and has no stopping point, hell, Carl may even take over from Rick as the lead character in the comic series some day.
Just have to love the last cover :') but I'm going to swear if they kill him off, they need to keep Carl T-T has to be a fake death that's planned. |

| like you guys say, it was one of the best. what i enjoyed the most was the variety of zombie kills. i really enjoyed crushing zombies heads with my boot or a car door. |

the game was simply brilliant, i would love more of these choice making games and the good thing is any achievements are just for playing the story.
hopefully more of these type of games will be made in the future as the walking dead was one of the best games i have ever played. |

I just finished playing it for the second time, but I can't help and wonder how much of those sales was due to easy achievements. We all know how many achievement whores are out there and they only have to run through the game to get neat 500 points here.
Not like I'm complaining. I love how it's designed. You play through game and appreciate it more, because you don't have to look for hidden stuff or some stupid fucking collectibles (bane of most games these days) and that's the way to do it=) |

| It's simple really, Walking Dead is by far the GOTY of 2012 easily, it has the best story, best characters, brings you into the story and really makes you attached to certain characters and rounds it all off with a fucking amazing ending alongside brilliant edge of your seat style gameplay. |

| i agree 100% with him. i loved secret/island back in the day. it was an awesome experience! i love to explore & have rich stories with strong characters. just like the ones in the walking dead series. this proves if you make a GREAT game. people WILL buy it! so all those devs complaining about lost revenue. take a page out of this book. this IS how its done! great job guys, cant wait to meet the cave :) |

| This game sold so well originally just because of the Title of the game. People really don't understand just how much a name alone can make the sale. so dont be suprised when they start coming out with more similar games like this one, but not as good. just because they think it will sell like this game did. |

Read the fucking article, that's the goddamn point. It's right here:

Means that Sam & Max are great games (which they are) but they won't sell as well as The Walking Dead because The Walking Dead is far more popular. |

| @18 Umm...I think you might be wrong about it being the highest rated tv show of all time. It's a great show, but your statement sounds kind of silly. Highest rated cable drama ever-yes. That still means it draws maybe half of what a CSI re-run draws on network tv. |
