OT I hope he does show us what else he is capable of as the metal gear franchise is great in my opinion and if he wants to work on something else let the man he can only gain from it. I don't blame him for sticking with the metal fear franchise either because there is definitely money to be made in the series. |

I'm sure his reputation is high enough that if he had presented a new idea outside of Metal Gear years ago, this might not be the case. Thing is, he consistently directs decent Metal Gear games, and people keep flocking to them. It's like he wants to make them, but doesn't want major recognition for it.
But, what else has he worked on in a relatively major way? Snatcher, Tokimeki Memorial, Boktai, and Zone of the Enders. Hasn't been a Snatcher release (not counting Sdatcher, as that was primarily advertised as a Goichi Suda thing) since 1992, 1994 if you wanna count Policenauts. Tokimeki Memorial Drama Volume 3 was Japan-only in 1999. The last Zone of the Enders was in 2003, and despite major fan desire for a third entry, all that's been released is the recent HD collection of the previous games. Boktai last got major attention in 2004, had a Japan-only release in 2005, and the "spiritual successor" Lunar Knights didn't do as well as they'd hoped.
So, of course he's known as "the creator of Metal Gear". That's the only thing he's really done that got any major attention from fans and press alike in at least 8 years. Know how many Metal Gear games there have been since 2004, when Boktai 2 was released? 10. That's a lot of new Metal Gear in 8 years, and again, that doesn't include the 9/10 re-releases/remakes (Snake Eater 3D, Acid Mobile, Arcade, MGS3: Subsistence, and the HD Collection, which has Sons of Liberty, Snake Eater, Metal Gear 1 and 2, and Peace Walker in NA/the original MGS in Japan). Throw on Revengeance and Ground Zeroes in the next 2 years, and, well, he's pretty much stuck as the Metal Gear Guy forever. |

| Metal Gear is such a great game, and I don't think being called "The Metal Gear Guy" should be insulting at all. Metal Gear is the reason a lot of people will always remember the PS1, and still play games today. |

I just hope we can have custom skins since I miss young classic snake from mgs1/2
A lot of people don't have a clue what happened to old snake so skipping ahead isn't helping anyone, I refuse to find out till they bother release mgs4 to the 360. |

With all do respect to one of the best storytellers of all time (videogame and other otherwise), Hideo needs to wake the f*** up lol. Hideo, you've created one of the most amazing characters and have accomplished SO MUCH already. If you were the winner of a super bowl or an NBA Playoffs title or a grand slam in tennis, or the actor who played James Bond...you should never be greedy enough to say 'I don't want to be the guy that's known as being James Bond. I want to be more than just that, it's old.'
Seriously? You're the guy who CREATED SOLID SNAKE!!! Lol you should be proud and leave it at that, 'nuff said. There is nothing you're going to do that is going to be MORE aspiring than that accomplishment, is there? "I haven't really shown the world what else I might be capable of yet." Wow, the man needs to swallow his pride and continue to improve his already great series (God has given us all a place in life, and this is Kojima's). But leave it to the Japanese of course to create a masterpiece then get bored and turn around and say 'Oh well this is not enough...' |

I don't think he's a douche, he's a talented games creator, but I have to agree with #9. If he doesn't want to only be known as "Metal Gear guy", then he should stop making Metal Gear games, it's as simple as that.
I know the problem is Konami likes the MGS money, so just take a risk and leave Konami. Lots of creators are leaving the big companies to do their own thing. |
