Splash Damage’s New Game, Dirty Bomb, is a Free-to-play PC Title

Remember that Splash Damage reveal teased on the studio’s website recently? Well, it’s not for us.

Called Dirty Bomb, the game is a free-to-play PC multiplayer shooter built using the Unreal game engine.

The announcement trailer, embedded below, shows a war-torn future London and lots of quick-cuts of shooty shooty action.

So yeah, if you had your hopes up for a new console shooter from the minds that bought us the flawed but interesting Brink, you’re out of luck. Sorry.

Although considering how many people feel about free-to-play, perhaps we’ve dodged the bullet.

Looks like it could have had some potential on consoles. I'm not a huge PC gamer but I may have to look into it.

PC gamers can keep. The game would have to perform fellatio on me while playing to peak my interest, after the giant turd of brink.

Well, to their benefit, MP-only games go over terribly on consoles. I think sticking with a PC release is a smart move on their part, and I hope they are successful.

Since this is new about PC, how did it find it's way here?=P

Thinking of how shitty Brink was, this is probably best way to go. I might even give it a shot once it comes out on PC.

@9 It's a follow-up for clarification. Read the first sentence.

No interest after the 'free to play' part to be honest, glad it's not coming to console's.

"No console release planned." Then why does an Xbox achievement oriented website care. Is it truly a concern over brink? A game that didn’t even review all that well to begin with, no wonder the developer didn’t want to put it on the consoles.

Why as of recently are the editors of this website, constantly spreading pro PC gaming propaganda? For instance, The Wii sales are low, console sales are low. I ask you please cite your source.

What #13 said.

The fact that the trailer says "From the developers of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory & Enemy Territory: Quake Wars PC" without the mention of Brink, says it all really.

#8: Yeah, me too. "Meh....oh it's the Underground, and the Gherkin! *camera pulls back* Here comes the Underground logo....OVAL?!? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh."

I liked MW3's mash-up of London Bridge and Westminster stations that formed the Mind the Gap mission in that game's campaign too. Shame you weren't allowed to murder the commuters without the mission resulting in failure.

I don't fancy this game's chances against Warface though. That game's looking nice.

@13 They are reporting on it because they reported on the teaser last week. It's a little something called follow up.

Anyway, not interested even though I have a decent gaming PC. Brink was garbage IMO. Not even worth the 5 bucks I spent on it. Wasn't really into the Enemy Territory games either so I'll just not waste my time.

Splash Damage isn't terrible at making Free2Play PC games...It seems to be about the only thing they are good at.

I mean ET was pretty good for a free game...Its only problem was that it was a shadow of what RtCW was...Though it did do a pretty good job at sucking all the noobs out of RtCW for a time.

Not surprised after Brink. Best to stay on PC so programmers with actual skill can fix your games for you.

Can't hurt to try it out as it's free. Doesn't bother me it's PC only, I spend just as long gaming on my PC as I do the Xbox these days, if not more.
