| I've only played a few matches in Blops2 and I reserve my judgement for the game. But come the fuck on....taking away a free map that was promised for pre-orders? the fuck's wrong with them. Giving it to people for "special events" versus letting everyone play it when they want to, outside of a custom game... real good fan service, Treyarch. |

You don't own anything. You have a license to use software which can be revoked at any time for any reason or no reason. However, you do own a boxed copy of the game itself which you are free to sell or trade.

@35 Exactly right. Obviously most people don't know about or have forgotten about the End User Licence Agreement. It does completely suck balls that they did this, but unfortunately they are completely within their legal rights.
We never really own any media we buy, whether it's a game, DVD, Blu-Ray or CD. The company retains the right to do what they want with it, when they want.
If you read the one packed in the BLOPS II game case, on the last page down the bottom, it reads.
"Activision makes no guarantees regarding the availability of online play and may modify or discontinue online service in its discretion without notice".
If you look at the EULA packed in with any THQ game (I'm using Darksiders II as an example) it reads.
"Your use of the file is evidence of your agreement to be bound by the terms".
"1. OWNERSHIP. The software is and shall remain a proprietary product of THQ and its suppliers. THQ and its suppliers shall retain ownership off all patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade names, trade secrets and other proprietary rights relating to or residing in the software. Except as provided in section 2, you shall have no right, title or interest in or to the software. The software is licensed, not sold, to you for use only under the terms of this agreement. If you agree to be bound by all of the terms of this agreement, you will only own the media on which the software has been provided, and not the software itself.
So basically, when you buy a game, DVD etc. you are not paying to own it, you are paying for a licence. Companies can modify their property at any time and, even take away our ability to use it if they want to. We only ever own the disc it's on. |

I agree it's a crappy move, but people are ignoring, or failing to read, two things
1. It's not gone forever. It will be brought back for special events, and I'm sure part of a map pack in the future for regular rotation
2. It's still available for private matches with your friends, just not public matches. |

Question: Was that 24/7 playlist available to ALL players, or only people who had gotten the pre-order bonus?
I don't have the game, so I don't know personally... but it sounds to me like it was made temporarily available to everyone as part of that special event. Whereas, now that the event is over, only the people who got the map as a bonus should have access to it...meaning it has to be pulled from the standard map rotation. Otherwise, anyone that -doesn't- have the map would get errors and be booted from the game any time the map came up. And, since it's just one map, they probably figured it wasn't worth keeping an entire playlist, or set of playlists, just so they could include one additional map.
...of course, this reminds me why I was so confused by them offering maps as pre-order bonuses; unless you -want- your online community to become fragmented, everyone needs to have (or at least be able to get) access to the same content. |

Yeah they can legally do this. But it's pretty unethical really. They use it as an incentive to grab a load of preorders, throw in a double xp wknd then when that ends they pull the map from the public playlists too. What's the point in having it in private matches?
Every year Activision find a new way of screwing over gamers and i have walked away from the call of duty series. And in future i'll be staying away from all Activision published software. I'm making my stand |

its so cool that the enemy spawns behind you for no apparent reason no matter where you are on the map. yeah that's 100% skill right there.
Multiplayer is too played out now adays and it all has become way to repetitive and pointless. oh man look at my AWESOME KILL DEATH RATIO!! HOLY CRAP I'M SO COOL NOW RIGHT? no. multiplayer is 100% boring and its not like i suck at it or anything like that, it has literally lost its fun. |

| Meh, they can keep that playlist yanked...would rather they gave us some Combat Training playlists where you actually played against the fucking bots. Kinda defeats the purpose of learning the game or not wanting to play against the obnoxious fucktard community the franchise is famous for when every time the match just fills up with obvious vets just looking to grief and get the one achievement tied to it. You're lucky to get more than two bots. Treyarch are dumber than a bag of hammers the way they fucked up Combat Training. I was saving the 24/7 playlist for my day off
Because i believed i owned it an could play
Any time i wanted. This is complete an utter
BS because I wouldnt have wasted money
on this game if i had known orherwise.
Im pretty sure both Activision and Tyrach
both know consumers wouldnt have jumped
to buy it since they drop COD's every year

| i pre ordered to get nuketown 2025 and they pull it less than a week after release, dont care for double xp but i feel robbed. nuketown 24/7 is one of the best playlists! they are bang out of order for removing it, not to mention the already piss poor amount of playlists they pull the best one~!!! |

| I would have thought that this was an issue for Trading Standards. The map was offered as a pre-order incentive, I wonder how many people pre-ordered the game so as not to miss out on the map, rather than wait until the game was cheaper. Nowhere did is say that the map would only be temporaily available. Even without a Trading Standards inquiry, this still reflects badly on Activision. |

| Yeah, this is where I draw the line. This game looked atleast different from the copy-paste stuff they've been doing since MW2, but doing this really puts me off. I'll continue to play the game to get my money's worth out of it, but I'm done investing in these two sh*t-companies. |

| Wow! This gets better by the second. First I pre-ordered the game through Microsoft Store on Monday, November 12th, and just received my copy last night (Monday, November 19th) missing out on the Double XP weekend. Now I can't even play Nuketown 2025? What a joke. I'm a stockholder of Activision too, and still can't for the life of me understand why the stock is less than $11.50 a share when they've had record earnings from COD Black Ops II among other games (Diablo II, Starcraft, COD: MW3, etc.). What a shitty company. |

| . they removed the 24/7 game mode its still in map rotation as long as all people in the lobby have it. just like gears of war runs 24/7 raven down every once in awhile its just to get you xp quicker on a smaller map. also its not like they deleted the map. because its cod everyone wants to start bitching right away |

Well this is pathetically laughable.
One thing I want to say to the earlier comments regarding you not owning the digital conent, you're wrong.
A few months ago a law was passed that means we legally own and own the right to re-sell digital content. Meeaning that in next gen we will be given the facility to trade in digital content or sell it on to a friend, or else microsoft will be breaking this new law :3
This was around when there was all the news issues about stopping video game pre-owned sales, but that utterly failed, because we have the right to use, sell our content, the same now applies for digital purchase's, so soon, we'll be seeing big change's with digital distribution.
I have to be honey, I can't get over this, it's just out right pathetic that they would do that, in truth, they don't really have the right to hold the carrot in front of the donkeys just to pull it away, its cruel, but it shows just how much all of the CoD developers really care for their fans. Even when they make it permanently in matchmaking, which they will due to demand I can guarantee, it doesn't change the fact that they've just done this.
It's as disgusting as charging for on disk content like capcom have been doing in earlier years. I hope to see the CoD developers burn for things like this :) |

I've not come across another company who've offered a preorder bonus only to then pull it from public use, only to then make a massive u-turn and re-add it after the outcry and hatred it caused. Activision are hateful money-grabbing scum who need to be shown that we can't be treated this way. I played the choas mode for
almost 2 1/2 hrs nuketown 2025 did
not show up once during that time frame
an my friend an a buddy played for almost 4
in spurts still never saw the nuketown 2025 map
so is it really still in play? a post on activison
had a similar experince an they deleted his post |
