| The games are a decent amount of fun and at the end of the day do exactly what you expect them to do. However, theres nothing to get excited about anymore. Same shit, different game. As has been said before, they need a new graphics engine, a longer gap between releases and a little more innovation. But hey ho, business models are based on profits and this series sure does bring it in for Activision. |

I read an article confirming MW4 was in production about 2 weeks ago. Where can they possibly take it now the trilogy is over. It's star wars all over again, the empire destroyed with one remaining Jedi. It NEEDS to be put to sleep.
Just saw it will be on current gen. This is also obvious. To go next gen, they would need to spend money to create a new engine and who really, really can see THAT happening? |

| are teh next gen consoles really that close? You would think if they were going to be released around the time the next cod comes out then there would be more information on them. I wouldnt be surprised if the pre orders didnt start a year before the release due to shortages in previous console launches. |

| Does anyone even care about this after the last piece of rubbish that was mw3?.. Seriously im a cod fan and i wasnt really looking forward to black ops 2 that much but i said id give it a go cause treyarch looked like they were tryin t change a couple of things.. Im quite happy with black ops ( even doh the retards didnt put hardcore kill confirmed in) but mw4??... Not a chance! Mw3 was seriously shit and broken which they didn bother fixing. |

Not surprised they'll be cranking out another one. You can't expect Activision to do anything sensible when they can make money now and worry about running a series into the ground later.
As for it being current gen, well ofc it is. They are still using the Doom3 engine ffs. It's really showing it's age (has been for a while) but it's really, really easy to use and costs them next to nothing. Why would they develop for the next gen system before they have to?
That would mean a new engine, loads of investment, and no new game for a year or two.
Activision would never see the point. |

MW3 was the worst CoD i ever played. I really hated the maps and the multiplayer system was just horrible. they should of kept it like the first black ops. MW4 is gonna need a LOT more improvements than MW3 for me to buy.
Off topic: i dont hav black ops II yet. is the online ranking system like the first black ops or not? and if not, is it better? |

| Call of Duty will never stop being put out as long as people keep buying it. Honestly, I wasn't too excited for black ops 2 and I was going to wait a little while to get it but after going ahead and buying it, I have to say that I'm not disapointed. I'm not a CoD freak like a lot of the kids you see online that have already prestiged 2 or 3 times but I do like to shoot people and the campaign is always full of action and violence. It's just a good war game. Always has been and I'm sure it always will be. |

| I agree with #3 by the time Treyarch released the first BO it became apparent that COD was becoming like a sports game... every year there will be a new one with a few tweaks. The game stopped being good after MW 2 where it became apparent that the only things being "tweaked" were the names to the perks. I must say though MW 4 would be highly unlikely considering it looks like the MW story line was wrapped up in MW 3. |

| Whoever wrote this article is an idiot. It clearly says all relevant consoles, Xbox 360, and PS3. This means that, assuming the job posting is not being redundant, that 360 and PS3 are not relevant consoles. It's going to be on X720. PS4 won't have released by then though it might still make it for the Spring 2014 launch. |

| @32 I read it the same way as you at first, but like has been said (not just on here, either), I think there would be more word on the next wave of consoles if they were going to happen as soon as next year. By mentioning PS3 and X360 specifically, I really think it was more of a 'eg' rather than excluding them from the 'relevant platforms' part. |

| I read a article on another web site after MW3 came out and it said the Sledghammer studios will not be working on another COD and they even scraped the plan of their open world game that was based on the COD series and evironments and thewt are hard at work on a brabd new project, well I guess that was bullcrap. |

Cod made all of you little kids who play it OCD about wanting more of the same exact thing over and over just with a different skin and a different name.
The multiplayer aspect of it is just so completely boring, when your average game is 17 kills and 6 deaths you'd think you would enjoy playing the game right? i have no problem beating little kids in CoD over and over. it is just not fun anymore though, when i am doing it, it just feels so like the same thing i've done over and over before in many of other games which are identical. i think thats why within the last year or so i've came to love only SINGLE PLAYER GAMES which consist of a GOOD STORY THAT LAST OVER 20 HOURS ATLEAST.

Well, since CoD does not really need to be launch title, this is no surprise to me at all. Acti is going at their own pace with franchise and whenever they decide to release it, it will be one of the biggest launches in entertainment and definitely biggest video game launch.

@61 While normally I'd agree with you, as the growing sense of entitlement among the gaming community has grown to ridiculous proportions, I'm arguing your point. Just because there are people fighting at war does not mean we should be grateful to play the next video game these people are developing. Your own point turns against you because Call of Duty games represent exactly what those people fighting are doing. I should be grateful to play the next game all about people playing with bullets for checkers, because there are people really out there playing with bullets for checkers? Back to the main point. There is nothing wrong with an annualized series, provided they bring something new to the table with each game. Like really new, not just improved over what we've already had. Call of Duty passed that point about three or four games ago. And it's because of that, that we actually ARE entitled to say the things we say about the series. Because "more of the same" in regards to the series has become less opinion, more fact with each game they come out with.
Be grateful I took the time to respond to you. There's people playing with bullets for checkers and you're complaining that someone on a website doesn't share your opinion. |
