Didn't see much of a story in the first episode, but it's coming along nicely.

| I really like the coop missions. And I'm really happy that you are actually rewarded a decent amount of XP too, unlike in Reach when you got 5% of what you would in a multiplayer match. |

Spartan Ops feels really unfinished. You watch a pretty CGI scene that's great and has great storytelling potential, but ultimately falls flat at the finish. Then you play 5 "chapters", most of which have absolutely nothing to do with the scene you just watched. In Episode 2, the scene isn't even mentioned until the very end, where a genuinely nice connection is drawn, but then immediately dismissed by Palmer anyways.
The storytelling in Spartan Ops is really shitty, stilted, and disjointed.
The gameplay doesn't even redeem it. Cheap difficult might sum it up. It completely forsakes interesting set up encounters in exchange for hordes upon hordes of charging enemies. It might be interesting if done right, but as it currently is - where you've got to watch the respawn screen up to 10 times in a row before being thrown literally right into the middle of the horde again - it's not great at all.
Spartan Ops is a missed opportunity. Poorly executed. |

Instead you get Palmer constantly blabbing "Miller do this" and "Miller do that". I love Halo 4, but Spartan Ops is dissapointing. The story does not work when all you do is basically play Firefight on recycled maps. |

I'm loving them, especially the cutscene and RvB easter eggs. But there is a few key issues wrong with spartan ops.
#1 They need to set a life limit per chapter, say 5 because otherwise if you run out of ammo its quicker to just die than find some. And whats the point of awarding XP when unlimited respawns you are bound to be victorious.
#2 They need to address the balance of XP it shouldn't be more than a BTB and it shouldnt reward noobs who AFK and don't help with clearing rounds.
#3 Scoring should be handled more clearly with multipliers and sprees popping up during play, not just in your end game status as medals.

Whilst I'm finding the Spartan Ops entertaining enough on the first run-through, I really cannot see them being played time and again like Firefight was. With Firefight I would happily finish one game before plunging back into another, even if it was on the same map. I don't have the same love of Spartan Ops and don't think it has the longevity.
I also find playing Spartan Ops solo on Legendary pretty unforgiving. I've lost count of the number of times that I have died because I was overwhelmed whilst trying to find ammo only to be placed back in precisely the same spot and die immediately again (and there's still no ammo!). |

| Spartan ops solo on legendary very much reminds me of campaign, but with less pressure on your shoulders. Die in campaign, get reset, die in spartan ops, get re-spawned. Seems like a much more casual campaign style of playing, which is something i enjoy playing after getting almost nowhere on campaign solo legendary. |

| I really like spartan ops. I wish we couldve 100% the game right away and al these new episodes added new achievements. Im not complaining though, I would just like too see h4 be the next 2000k game :) |

OT: "Firefight" was better! The only thing "Spartan Ops" has is a story to it. I agree with #2. The recycled maps is weak! I hope with episodes beyond the original five... that they design some new maps!! |

preffer spartan ops to firefight any day of the week, maybe because grueling for 3 hours to get a 10 point achievements on odst firefight took its toll on me
(espec when halo waypoint seems to have removed the total of achievements in all halo games gives you a level/ranking -unlessI'm missing something, seems to change for the worse every time i update waypoint)
not sure how they are going to explain halsey getting out of the shieldworld she was stuck in (novels), I took the opening clip of her in halo 4 to be a flashback to the time the newer spartans were created. |

| @25 help! help! someone's anus has escaped, what an idiot. Spartan Ops seems to be shaping up well, I miss the FF (this is firefight, don't want the grammer nazi telling me off) and think that both FF and Spartan Ops could have been incorporated in this game. I like the episodic (think I just made that word up, get ready to type @25) approach but after the initial cutscene to start the episode, or the supporting trailer, you have no reference to any actual story you are supposed to be doing. Cutscenes like we have in the campaign are definately lacking, but as one poster has already pointed out I do look forward to Mondays now. |
