$2 Billion cash!! Woozers! I wonder if they actually handed it over in suitcases...
I really hope this works out. I love the Star Wars universe, and it could be taken in some many amazing directions. It just needs the right people, heres hoping Disney are those people. |

| I'll gladly take more Star Wars. I enjoyed every movie, even the prequels that everyone seems to hate. But I just hope Disney(and I'm guessing everyone else is also thinking the same thing) doesn't do what they ALWAYS do and try to make it appeal to every audience. |

| @5, except it involves Lucasarts. Them changing hands could shake things up a bunch. New people in charge making different decisions. Will we get Battlefront III, or perhaps a new KotoR? Perhaps they'll put Force Unleashed III back into production. Maybe they'll even have a hand in not making it suck. Maybe they'll greenlight a bunch of stuff that never would have happen when the company was owned by George. Lucasfilms and in turn Lucasarts was a big company, but now they're part of a much bigger company. Depending on how serious Disney is about all this (and for 4.05 billions dollars I'm guessing they're pretty serious) this has a lot of potential for change. |

I'm fairly surprised it was "only" $4 billion tbh. They bought Pixar for almost double that.
Still, fingers crossed. I guess Disney have done ok with the Marvel movies.
Here's hoping for Joss Whedon to direct the next Star Wars movie.

| George Lucas will not let this go, he'll be working on it somehow. It's as if he wants Star Wars to die with him, so he was doing his very best to destroy it. I fucking hope this works out, but I fear for the worst. Star Wars was my childhood. Disney won't even be the ones working on it, they just slap there name on the front of everything they own, but don't actually work on. |

| Disney killed the good (ActionRPG) Pirates of the Caribbean game and did the Lego crap instead, plus they gave Epic Mickey to Wii exclusively and waited until the subpar sequel to grant us the opyion to play it. To say nothing of the lack of Illusion games on XBLA/PSN. I'm not sure I trust them dictating Star Wars games, they don't give a shit about AAA/core games. |

@41, I'll preface this by saying I did enjoy the prequel trilogy. Not as much as the originals, mind you, but they were still enjoyable. I honestly think most peoples problems was subpar acting mixed with an over reliance on CGI which ultimatley cover up some not too great storytelling. But I think the big thing is that they weren't as good as the originals and with Lucas tweeking those to no end there just is a lot of animosity going on.
As for why Lucas is to blame, well George, wrote, produced and directed the trilogy. He ran the whole damn thing so just about any flaw stems from his decisions. |

@28 That's a legitimate concern. You me, and billions off ppl around the globe NOW associate Star Wars and Disney together. I took a class in college that had disney as it's first assignment and Disney will take to heart anything said about Star Wars now and if it hurt the Disney image, whill change it so it will. Games included.
In 2 years a parent will buy a SW game, probably force unleashed 2, and go "This is way to violent, AND Disney made it? I have a problem w/ this."(just my observation dunno if it really is violent.) |

| I wonder how much George will be involved? What I hope is that he comes up with the idea for the story, and then hands it off. I thought the prequel trilogy had really good ideas behind it but was poorly executed. Put the screenplays through a rewrite and get a director who hasn't gone over 20 years without directing a movie, and (IMO) the prequels would easily be better than the original trilogy. |

George Lucas still has some strings attached to Star Wars, I can't remember where, or who I read saying it but I saw George Lucas himself say he was playing some role to do with it, I can't remember what it was. If asked, I will search for and provide the quote and link.
@56 - This could potentially bury Star Wars and make it a cheap cash in, the people leaving negative feedback are mostly die hard Star Wars fans who have already been repeatedly stabbed in the back and pissed on by George Lucas. I understand the hatred they feel, because Star Wars was a lot of peoples childhood, seeing something you love destroyed by the very person who made it is a horrible feeling. I have hope, but slight hope at that.

| @38 A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… I remember reading that the Star Wars saga was always planned to consist of 9 episodes. Somewhere along the way that plan got a little messed up, but looks like it might now happen that way after all. So presumable George Lucas had at least some idea of where the story would go after Episode VI. |
