Hitman: Absolution

IO Interactive's Torben Ellert Talks Realism in Hitman: Absolution, Contracts Mode & Creating the Perfect Hit

Having spent a considerable time with Hitman: Absolution over the last few weeks, we felt it was only right that we tracked down someone from IO Interactive to answer our burning questions on what we'd had the pleasure of playing. And burning they are... not Chlamydia burning, more like a mild skin rash burning.

We caught up with Torben Ellert recently, Game Designer at IO Interactive on Hitman: Absolution, to talk about the more realistic approach in the campaign before getting into a candid conversation regarding the major addition to their latest title: Contracts mode.

The asynchronous multiplayer perfectly suits the game so we delve into the thinking behind the mode, its creation, Ellert's favourite level that they've shown the press thus far and what he would consider the perfect hit. Of course, we relive some of our insane moments we experienced too, so there's plenty of perspective for you to take on the whole subject... plus, loads of gameplay too... and we all love gameplay!

Hitman: Absolution is scheduled for a November 20th and November 23rd release in North America and Europe respectively.

@7, I thought Kane & Lynch was a pretty decent game. The gameplay may have been lacking but I thought the story and voice acting was great. Can't wait for the movie.

OT, I'm loving the detail put into the environments in this game, looks so dark.

The first Kane & Lynch was decent in my opinion.

The second one was bad (Army of Two 2 was better but less than the first game. I'm starting to tend that those sorts of game in a China environment is a bad idea. I liked the fact, in the first Kane & Lynch, that each level was, or near, a different country).

@#7 & 10 I actually loved first K&L game. Second one was a huge letdown to me. Hitman has not disappointed yet and I don't see it changing ever=D

I'm not 100% sure that hitman will give me my full moneys worth. Not saying it'll be bad, but after dishonored, i want games that last more than 6 hours.

@14 depending on how you play the Hitman games, they can take a really long time, or you can fly through each level within minutes

some bits look a little linear ... i hope they keep the open essence from the previous games where there was about 100000 ways to finish each level.
