Bioshock Infinite Special Editions Revealed

Irrational Games has revealed the contents of two Bioshock Infinite special editions, and blimey they’re sexy.

Let’s start with the Ultimate Songbird Edition of the game, as it’s daddy. Contained within is an amazing 9-and-a-half inch statue of the game’s fearsome Songbird creature.

As pictured below, it’s quite the thing, as visualised by Robb Waters the concept artist behind the look of the System Shock cover, the Trickster in Thief and Bioshock’s Little Sisters, amongst others.

In addition to this the Ultimate Songbird Edition also contains custom artwork by Waters and fellow Irrational concept artist Jorge Lacera.

Plus, the Ultimate Songbird Edition also contains everything in Bioshock’s Premium Edition, as detailed below.

  • A 3-inch baby version keychain of the sold-out Murder of Crows vigor bottle replica.
  • A 5 x 7-inch lithograph by Jorge Lacera.
  • A 25 millimeter, resin-cast Handyman miniature from the upcoming BioShock Infinite board game by Plaid Hat Games, makers of Summoner Wars.
  • A mini art book, full of BioShock Infinite concept art and commentary, with a hand-distressed cover.
  • Various digital goodies: exclusive in-game gear, a digital soundtrack, and platform specific downloadable content (Avatar costumes for Xbox 360)

I have Bioshock 1 and 2's Limited Editions (Bioshock 1's was actually limited, too, with that hand-painted Big Daddy! :D) so this is a no-brainer. I'm preordering the hell out of this come Monday.

sounds about the right price here - The Ultimate Songbird Edition is the most lavish and includes a nine-and-a-half-inch statue of the game's iconic avian enemy. In the US it costs $149.99 (about £93).

Gotta be honest, I wasn't a fan of the original Bioshock (not saying it was a bad game,just not for me) and I never played 2 because of that. But I must say I love the look of that Songbird Statue, I'd actually consider picking this this version of the game up just for that if it's at a decent price(yeah, i'm a sucker for collectors editions with statues).

I like the Premium Edition because it comes w/ everything I like except the statue which is an extra $70s. So total is $150 + tax, man that is a lot of cash to spend. I might regret this in the future but I really want the statue. So Ultimate Songbird Edition it is...

I'm expecting around £120 for the Ultimate Songbird Edition come Monday. And, as much as I hope it won't be exclusive, I too have a feeling it'll be GAME that're selling it. If I can get it from ShopTo, I'll be thrilled.

Is the 9.5 inch statue really worth that extra money? THIS IS SUCH A HARD DECISION. I might just pre-order the Premium Edition, and hope that I can find the statue on eBay for a smaller sum...

@ 36 - a small figurine and a 5" x 7" lithograph was all you needed to be convinced this game isn't going to be less than stellar? They could have sent a real life handyman to my door with an advanced copy and I'd still be leary that this game has taken a bad turn...

Dunno if the statue is worth the extra £40 I mean that's the price of a game alone.

@36 Ken Levine could keep the game going alone, being the legend that he is.

Very nice. I cannot wait for this game. I know Infinite will be better then 2 maybe better then 1 too. Bioshock is one of best franchises ever made.

Now this is a pre-order package definitely worth getting. So many games have had poor collector's and limited editions lately. Just knew I could count on this one being a good one though. So much love for Bioshock.
