@5 Agreed. If this is on par with Pirates 4 quality-wise, its gonna have a negligible, convoluted storyline with action sequences for the sake of action sequences. AKA total arse.
Honestly surprised that Michael Bay hasn't latched onto a project like this. Not that I'm complaining... |

@20 My thoughts exactly.
I do think this has a chance to be an excellent film if it's given a sizable budget, if not then they'd be better off canning it before they even get started. The same goes for the Assassin's Creed movie I heard about a while back. |

| I think if they set out with Cliff's original idea of a more District 9-type film, they'd be in good condition. Focus more on the horrors of war and the men that survive it than "OH LOOK BIG MONSTER SET PIECE!" Don't let Hollywood slap on some stupid love story. If they let the film stay to the core of Gears, a band of brothers survival tale, it'll be golden. |

| It'll be shit, most game to film are with a few exceptions.. silent hill was one. They will make it 12a, it'll have a 'naughty' word or 2 and fuck all gore. |

Well i don't think Boll would be able to touch GOW, cause he mainly do small franchise that are either not that popular or that compagny are ok to do anything for publicity.
Who i really fear is the devil of Video games to Movies, Paul W.S.A.B.C.D Anderson... After the catastrophy that was Retribution, and the dismemberment of the RE franchise... i so hope he never touch another franchise ever.
GOW in a movie form could be awesome, but it risk being toned down to get a smaller rating, i fear they won't cross the line to show monsters being chain sawed on camera. The comical relief that worked ok in the game could turn out very badly on camera... I don't know... It COULD be awesome, but it could also be so bad. I think i would only trust Nolan for GOW... thats it. |

| They should do this in CGI, only way it will work in my opinion. It's hard to nail the look of COG's in real life and if they don't nail it, the movie will look fake. |

I love gears more than any other franchise but I'm already concerned about this....me personally I think the only director who is a perfect fit for gears is Zach Snyder.He can nail the violence aspect.He can def make the locust horde look the way they should on the big screen.The cogs r all well built across the board.Snyders last 3 flicks he's done an awesome job of making his characters seem like they have above average strength(300/watchmen/suckerpunch).AND THATS B4 SUPERMAN...I just don't see any avenue that he couldn't cover with gears.
I know no1 will agree and that's fine.I like having a different view.I'm not one of these internet guys who says Nolan should direct everything and Michael Bay should be hunted.
Speaking of Michael Bay,gears is right up his alley as well.Gears is violence,all out action,forced humor and explosions.according too all the haters that's every Bay film....even tho no1 was hating on him til he did transformers.no1 was screaming profanities when he did both bad boys movies.or the rock.or armageddon....just saying. |

| I have watched a ton of video game based films and the only legitly good one was Prince of Persia. I don't have much hope for a Gears film because it'd be like any other generic sci-fi film that I can catch on TV. Now if they made it into a TV show, That I would be interested in. It'd be Walking Dead-ish. |
