1942: Joint Strike Gets a Release Date

1942: Joint Strike Gets a Release Date
Written Wednesday, July 09, 2008 by Dan Webb

Capcom have just announced that their WWII inspired arcade title, 1942: Joint Strike will be released on Xbox Live on Wednesday 23rd of July.

1942: Joint Strike takes inspiration and influence from the ‘80s 194X series of World War II-themed vertical arcade shooters. The art, sound and gameplay of the new game take cues from the original 194X games, but will stand out as its own unique entry. Gameplay will resemble the classic 2D style that gamers expect, but the game utilizes a fully 3D engine. Set in a World War II-themed locale, stages, vehicles and weapons have the look and feel of WWII with some stylistic differences.

The new 1942: Joint Strike features 2-player online cooperative play. Graphics and music have been similarly updated by Backbone Entertainment, the developers of this latest entry into the 194X series. There’s also a brand new score for the game created by Norihiko Hibino, an international composer well-known for his work creating music for the Metal Gear series.

Are you serious #9? I really have nothing to say to that, but this is another great capcom game for XBLA.

Some people must not realize that Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony all have their prized "never gonna give away" properties. Nintendo above all of these companies has some of the greatest and most loved characters in the videogame industry, so to put it simple Mario, Link, and Samus are not going anywhere, but on Nintendo consoles. Before anyway says fanboy this or that I just love games in general and can not deny a good game or franchise. A good game is a good game no matter what console its on.

Oh sorry I'm totally off topic, but anyways I'll surely be getting this because I'm a serious shooter fan and for the most part most anything from Capcom is ok in my book.

This game is a classic. I'm sad to see so many people bitching about a game they've even played.

#9 Wow. I'm trying to find words to summarise the stupidity of that comment, but they escape me, and it isn't often I'm left speechless.

Hey, why not see if the big N want to release Zelda, Mario Kart and Pokemon on their rivals machine? Good Lord.

And to cap it all 'worst games from the past'... I can only imagine you weren't actually around when these games first came out. The 194X series are classics, and it's great to see it get a new lease of life on XBLA.

Pick this one up for sure.

thank you FlimFlam... the ignorance of people that just want to bash something they don't understand is just simply amazing sometimes.

Super Mario? idiot.

What we got to appreciate is that there are ALWAYS new games coming to XBLA... some are redundant others are not.

The need for Pac-Man and Mrs. Pac-Man... I don't understand. However I'm glad the content is there.

We are getting a lot of sweet games, and I don't mind the occasional oldie to be brought back!

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
