| Still makes me laugh how one of the producers or designers i forgot who exactly it was , for assassins creed 3 said they are "the last of the dinosaurs" when it comes to triple A titles . Don't get me wrong i love ubisoft but that comment just makes me laugh . People have this idea that casual games are going to take over everything along with mobile games ,etc . But what they don't understand is most actual gamers do not play those and if they do they don't put near as much time into them as other full triple A games .There are so many people with a love of games and a love of creating games that its not going to end . Hell just the rest of this year along with the next half of next year alone TONS of great titles are coming out and thats just in like a 7 month period . But back to the main OT Halo 4 looks awesome :) |

| @3- So you obviously haven't played Borderlands 2. Assassin's Creed 3 should be really good, Mass Effect 3 will get nominated, Max Payne 3 could, Dishonored could; and there are plenty of others that I am forgetting. The game looks good, don't get me wrong, but it's definitely not guaranteed GOTY. |

Can't wait for this, defiantly be my favorite game of the year, I can nearly grantee that. I'll reserve full judgement until i've played the full thing, but as it stands, it's looking good.
I like that there's a classic mode included in multiplayer from the go, nice to see a lesson learnt from reach there.
I still worry that the mech is going to be over powered, but we'll see. |

@3. Completely agree with you there, theres no other game that can even get close to claiming goty off halo 4. It's impossible.
@13 a HUGE good luck to all the games you mentioned looool. I have been playing resi and borderlands for crazy hours great games (borderlands 2 sooo much better than resi) has not much replay value or out of his world campaigns.Also ac3 for me they have just ruined it for me cause revalations was the most boring game I have ever played and I can't sit through another game like that. Black ops is not even in the runnings for goty come on people wake up.
Halo 4 just looks like the destroyer of all games, can believe I am saying this but halo 4 could be better than halo 3 which is one of the greatest games ever made. |

| I wonder what Halo 4 would look like if Bungie wrote the story? And made the online, maybe it's best they didn't since Halo 4 looks like a solid game. Just have to see on November 6th. |

Only a month left now, fortunately there's some great games coming out to make the wait easier.
@13 That's hilarious, when was the last time a game with a metacritic score in the 60's won or deserved GotY? Resident Evil 6 shouldn't even be considered for GotY. |

@14 They've actually changed a lot in AC3, Halo 4 just looks the same as the others. Not to mention that Halo was supposed to be a Trilogy (Halo 1, 2 and 3).

I don't see how Dishonored could possibly get game of the year. It looks like a decent rental with no replay value whatsoever. You beat it in 10 hours and then never play again. How could that be GOTY?
Borderlands 2 is just a boring grind which no difficulty to speak of (you either have the gear for the fight or you don't).
AC3 has potential.
Mass Effect 3 was great but it definitely won't win.
NFS:MW actually does have potential if you like racing games.
Black Ops 2 will probably just as bad and uncompetitive as all the ones before it. It will be a lot of people's GOTY (probably most people's, though I doubt it will get many from the media). |

| @26 You do realize that there can be multiple trilogies in the same franchise right? Star Wars for example is the most recognizable duel trilogy. Halo 1/2/3 was a trilogy, that story ended, Halo 4/5/6 is a new trilogy with the same main character on a NEW journey. |

Is just my or does it seem everyone keeps comparing everything to call of duty? I dnt care about cod, this is Halo news article.
I get tired of saying this but there were other games before call of duty........sheesh. I'm a big halo fan but at least they didn't change it as badly as they did with the resident evil series aka generic action, why those terrible live action films exist. |

As much as I like Halo, and have hopes that Halo 4 will win GOTY, I doubt it will. It's already ground that's been covered. Basic sci-fi shooter.
I'm disappointed nobody here has mentioned Max Payne 3. The only thing I disliked about it was the loading during the cutscenes. Sure, Rockstar fucked up the DLC, but that's DLC, not the core game. I want Max Payne 3 to win shooter of the year, as well as GOTY, but I feel as if it isn't popular enough. And we all know that the GOTY awards ceremony is just one big popularity contest. Right? |

| @ 38, I have been a fan of Max Payne 3 since it came out and have been playing it on the side ever since and I do in fact think it's one of this year's best games. The only reason people haven't been mentioning it, is as you say it's not too popular among gamers. The DLC scandal has irritated me since I bought the Season Pass but oh well :/ I agree, GOTY is all about popularity, but Max Payne deserves a chance...it's story was by far the best I've ever experienced. |

For me, GOTY is going to be between Halo 4, Mass Effect 3, and possibly Far Cry 3.
I appreciate Borderlands, and Borderlands 2 does look pretty ace, but the first one didn't really do it for me. I'm not sure about Assassin's Creed III - it will be a great game, there's absolutely no doubt about that, but unless they really have managed to completely reform the gameplay again (like with ACII before it) then I'm not holding my breath. If they pull it off, it'll be a spectacle; if they don't, it'll just feel samey. |

The game looks great, even if the 65 second Tom Daley advert made me not want to watch the above feature, I have firm confidence in 343 to handle the series given the footage I've seen. Unfortunately, as XBL is a big no-no for me at this point, I don't believe I will be getting it, even if it is out conveniently in time for my birthday :/

Yes it is a daring assumption but I'm making it: Halo 4 will be GOTY. I don't play AC but I give props to it and recognize it is a very well crafted game. I've been hearing Dishonored is pretty solid too. Borderlands has a very distinctive look.
So, with all due respect for fans of all these games, my bet is GOTY will be a battle between Halo 4 and AC 3. |
