Lets see how 'epic' they'll be now. Always like cliff's attitude. Seemed pretty down to earth. All the lamborghinis and tons of money's aside that is. |

| He was one of the best at Epic. I always watched interviews from Gears of War and Bulletstorm in wich he spoke of how good they were. He said in one interview that he lost his father at a young age, and that's what makes the bond between Marcus and his father so good. You can already see where it's heading without Cliff with Gears of War Judgment. That should have done a Bulletstorm 2, a game I'm looking more forward to than another Gears of War. Gears of War 3 ended with an end, not a cliffhanger of some sort, because Cliff decided to really mark it with "a closed ending", not an "open ending". |

Promises, promises... Broken promises... Aside from his Confederate conspiracy nutjob delusion and the fact he and Rod let Karen Traviss shit the Gears storyline down the drain, I guess he was a good guy. I'm skeptical though, so it's about time the industry stopped the whole Miyamoto-induced idolisation of a few figures in the industry. Every game is made by a team and yet all we ever hear about are the few figureheads who are classified as "the talent". It's about time people recognised the whole team more, and speaking of growing up, it's about time jaded, opinionated reviewers stopped grasping for gravitas and recognition in their "work" by giving pretentious and "expert critiques" in a vain attempt to give themselves some semblance of style and credibility. All it ends up being is a mixture of ego-centric "I was there so I know better than anyone else" pulled out of their arse "opinions" and e-dick waving snobbery. A shame people still attribute significance and importance to just a few "experts" in every industry as it only ever leads to disappointment for fans and "talent" alike. |

Pretty interesting. Nice timeline 1. Epic Screw Gamers with the absurd achievements in Gears 3. 2. Epic announces another Gears Game being made by People Can Fly, the makers of Bulletstorm (Good Game). This is obvious to most, to pass the blame when no one buys the game. 3. Epic buy People Can Fly. (Meaning Gears will still be made by Epic.) 4. Executive Director, Rod Furgeson, bails on the sinking ship & goes to work for Irrational Games. (Known for the BioShock Series) 5. The last rat leaves he sinking ship, in Cliff Blesinzski. Possible next entry in the timeline...... 6. Epic to leave Game making & just develop & sell their Engine. All Gaming Staff to be laid off & Studios Sold or Closed. Nice Job Epic. |

Thanks Cliff, for making the game that got be back into gaming. The game that I spent 2 years playing almost non-stop, and the game that introduced me to more people I'd now call real friends, than all my years in School, Collage and University ever did. Thank you for Gears of War 1 Cliff. @13: Sure there's more people who make a game, there's also more people that work on a movie other than the director and actors, and more people that work on a song than just singer, but who gets the credit for those? It's the same thing, only that in the games industry, those who get the credit are far more deserving of it. |

well said #31 the whole set of games was by the epic team, not just by cliffyb...now he was a great guy, and has always been there or near enough when the studio made it's big games, but don't think for one minute that everything they did was down to him personally, my favourite epic game has been shit since gears came out, well, actually it never got the sequel it was promised 10 years ago or more (where the fuck is unreal 3, and if one more clown mentions UT3 i will kill their entire family - unreal & unreal tournament are 2 different games) hope he enjoys his break from the industry and has some good times with less stress and some family life (assuming he has family) - he'll be back no doubt, he's been doing this since he was a teenager, won't take him long to run out of things to do in real life |

| Well when GOW1 was released, i read the comment in the manual and i said to myself.. damn he is right. I never made research about the developers, i was perfectly happy with my game. But when the fuckfest that was GOW2(online) came... things where never the same again... i was even banned... 2 times from the epic forums. The guy became full of himself, then when GOW3 was release, they added stuff player didn't want at all, but eventually the game became solid but after so many complaints, so many modifications...They did that in GOW1(update a lot) but it felt ok because it was the first game... you are allow to make mistake, but when your at your third... and the problems are not the old ones, but new one you deliberately created...well. BUT they totally fucked with people over the seriously achievement and the whole weapon skin thing was so a joke...still some people fail for it. I don't really know what to say... im a big GOW fan, i love this game even tough nothing will top my fun on GOW1, but at the same time that guy and his arrogance pissed me off badly |

Enjoy your life with family and friends also new job if you happens find in later time of your life. Rod and Cliff want moved on their life as that understandable reasons. Why would some of you want bashing over his leaving so just respect their reasons and sometime people need moved on of their life so I would do same if I work for long time in one job. :P Also he is only person left Epic Games so Gears of War will be same since so many people still work in Epic anyway. Gears was the best of the trilogy, campaign was awesome, the MP part was great, but I had my fill with it, especially the Horde Mode, since alot of other games used it too, it was cheap to made. Nothing bad to say about him. He helped make GOW1 which is easily the best multiplayer game I've played so far. Yes it had it's problems but nothing I've played so far can top it. I've met some cool people that I still play games with to this day because of it. Rest well CliffyB, you've earned it. PS: He's kinda hot. In terms of actual game development, this probably won't affect Epic that much. It's safe to say he was just the figure head for the company and the Gears franchise. Good luck to him, he's pretty much lived the dream of most gamers - doing a hobby for a job, made millions, landed a hot wife and now it's time for him to kick back and enjoy it all. God speed Cliffy. Can't fault you, but I am lol-ing at the picture. |
