Pre-Order Fable 2 to Get XBLA Title 'Fable 2 Pub Games' Free

Pre-Order Fable 2 to Get XBLA Title 'Fable 2 Pub Games' Free
Written Monday, July 07, 2008 by Dan Webb

As if we didn't need anymore motivation to pre-order Fable 2, now Microsoft and Lionhead Studios have teamed up to give us the chance to get our hands on a free XBLA title if we pre-order the title at participating stores.

The free XBLA will be called "Fable 2 Pub Games" and will allow gamers to gamble their in-game gold in a series of old skool pub games with a twist. The XBLA title will feature three main games modes and they will be:
  • “Keystone,” which is a combination of Craps and Roulette
  • “Spinnerbox,” which is an updated take on slot machines
  • “Fortune’s Tower,” which is a press your luck style of game.
  • The download will also include a Shell, which is a tutorial of all three games.
No word on the availability of such an offer and who the "participating" stores will be, but the good news is, if you miss out, you can purchase a copy when it hits the XBLA in August for 800MSP. A little rich maybe from first impressions, but hey, it's Fable and you can gamble your in-game gold!

In other Fable 2 news, Microsoft Games Studios and Lionhead Studios have just announced details of a limited collector’s edition of “Fable II” available for pre-order at retailers worldwide, for a suggested price of $79.99 USD.

The limited collector’s edition includes:
  • a bonus disc with a new behind-the-scenes making of video,
  • collectible Hobbe figure,
  • a LIVE trial card and additional in-game content (an Xbox LIVE account is required to access the limited collector’s edition bonus in-game content).
The “Fable II” standard addition is also available for pre-order at a suggested retail price of $59.99. “Keystone,” “Spinnerbox” and “Fortune’s Tower” will also be embedded as part of the full retail copy of “Fable II” (limited collector’s and standard editions).

There you have it, all the latest Fable 2 details. What more can you ask for... Except maybe a concrete release date? Let's hope E3 gives us that.

I thought the fable arcade game was meant to come out before fable 2?

What's the point in getting the pre-order code if the games are imbeded in both versions upon release...

@6 you can play them a month before the game is out and get your money up so you have some gold to start with. All the money you earn in the arcade games can be transfered to your character in the full game.

@ 6 and 7:

The pub games allow also, from what I've read, for players to unlock exclusive weapons, tattoos, and dog tricks.

I'm gonna reserve this first thing in the next couple of days!

I can't wait for this, finally an XBLA game that links to the REAL game. This is going to be amazingly fun. I just hope GameStop is one of these, because I've already got it paid off and would hate to have to cancel it!

According to their websites, Gamestop & EB Games are taking part in the pre-order offer.

Wait so...does the arcade game have achievements? Or is it an add-on to the game and not an arcade game?

Hopefully it has achievements. But it might not seeing as it is part of Fable II.

The Pub Games will have achievements. They aren't a part of the game, their games you play outside of Fable 2 like any other Live Arcade game.

i would say so darkxkid3. here in AUS we usually get the left overs, meaning we get crap. unless we lucky enough to get that, or something to compensate no arcade game

I went to go pre-order it but the man at the desk didn't know anything about the arcade games (I was at EB Games).. (the Canadian Gamestop) and so I didnt want to risk it.. since UT3 will a day or two late in this town for some reason I'll have to wait for both... damnit I want those.

I've already pre-order the limited edition in the UK (always have to have the limited editions, my magpie syndrome demands it), but not sure if the arcade games apply over here. Kinda seems a little unfair to give away something that you would normally have to pay for, if you aren't going to offer it to all regions.

Dude, you should have learnt by now that living in the UK is one major setback when it comes to the gaming world...!

I would hope the offer does extend to over here!!

Woo! At least the limited collectors edition is the price of a regular game, unless it goes up in the UK to $100. Which it probably will :(

hope thos arcade games have at least 5 achievements themselves.
so, if we preorder, the code for the pub games will be sent out early so we can play them first and then trade our gold over when the game is released, like molyneux has said countless times?

Just to make it clear to people who live in the UK (like me).
Lionhead studios is based in the UK, so i dont see why we shouldnt get all this stuff as extras, but then again it wouldnt surprise me

PS FlimFlam i have magpie syndrome to :-)

@ Simo13 -- Do you mean that they will call, e-mail, or snail mail us for the code? Because I pre-ordered the game, and was wondering when we would actually receive the code. I dunno. Anyone else know for sure? It's not pressing to me, but I am curious.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
