Rock Band - July 8th Tracks Announced

Rock Band - July 8th Tracks Announced
Written Friday, July 04, 2008 by Dan Webb

Rock Band will be receiving a further 4 songs this coming July 8th. The tracks this week are the usual 160 MSP and are all master versions. The 4 songs are as follows:

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Snow (Hey Oh)

Red Hot Chili Peppers -
Tell Me Baby

Rush -
Closer to the Heart

Rush - Working Man (Vault Edition) alternate-take master

So there you have it, two fantastic Chili Pepper tunes and some old skool Rush. Not a bad week to be honest. If you haven't listend to the Chili's Stadium Arcadium, do it now as both the Chili's tracks this week are lifted off that hugely popular double CD. Enjoy!

Thanks to prowlerdante for the heads-up.

Not a big fan of the chilli's :( Still, adding this to the list still makes an absolutely amazing selection of downloads

2 good chilli's songs for the fans, but agreeing with #2, still makes a great collection of DLC for the game, nice job :D

Wasn't Working Man already released?

Meh, anyway, I'm a huge RHCP fan, and they are two great songs, but I'd love to see some of their older stuff on Rock Band. I forgot the album Fight Like a Brave is on, but that's a great song and album. :P

Friday, July 04, 2008 @ 09:25:32 PM

I like Rockband and all but we REALLY need some heavier songs. I'm sure I ain't the only one who wants this, but seeing songs like this for download every week makes me hate this game that much more(but that's just me talking). I don't have anything against these bands, I just think the developers could appeal to a larger audience if they add some more metal.

Friday, July 04, 2008 @ 09:33:14 PM

I was initially confused about Working Man as well - according to the Rockband forums, it's a master track from the Rush Vault - it's never been released before. Not only is it the master track, but the guitar solo is completely new. I'm a little irked at having bought the cover, but I might drop the $2 for a master that I've never even heard before.

Unlike the other Rush tracks available, thankfully these aren't covers. As good as they are, it just isn't the same. An alternate master recording is a nice bonus as well.

Friday, July 04, 2008 @ 10:50:17 PM

Fight Like A Brave was from What Hits I think. I don't like that one though. I think Under The Bridge needs to be there. That would be just as fun in Rock Band as on a real guitar. Soul To Squeeze would be cool but I think that's a slide guitar song and might not work well. Then again, Cheat On The Church was in Guitar Hero and that was a slide guitar song. That was my favorite track on the first game.

How about a nice variety pack like songs from Fleetwood Mac, Pantera, Soilwork, White Stripes, Breaking Benjamin, Sonata Arctica.

RHCP are decent, wish there were more of their "older" stuff though, Rush is always good to have more of.

Yes, a couple of my favs from Stadium Arcadium!

And more Rush This is the best week in my opinion in a while! i already downloaded Working Man but if there is a new solo I'll definitely have to get the new one seeing how I'm a huge Rush fan.

LOL @ 24... I'm glad to see he likes about 3-5 songs per month released compared to 20+ in Rock Band...

That's the thing that sucks about today's modern rock age. Most people prefer to listen to melodic-less bands than the truly talented Rush. Speaking of Rush, I hope Subdivisions makes an appearance on Rock Band 2 :D

Saturday, July 05, 2008 @ 12:58:23 AM

Rush is probably one of my top favorite bands and if there was any song that I feel would be really fun on Rock Band its The Spirit of Radio and even The Trees would be a fun time if not hilarious at the same time. A song about politics between the Maples and the Oaks in the forest is some funny stuff. I think Rush may have been smoking some "trees" when writing that one.

"Fight Like a Brave" is on "What Hits" but its from an earlier album. Also RHCP haven't made a good album since Californication, and even that paled in comparison to BloodSugarSexMagic and before.

Saturday, July 05, 2008 @ 06:33:06 AM

bah, i don't really download any songs for rock band anyways. Only if they are free (which they are not). I only got Paramore's CrushCrushCrush, All American Rejects' Move Along and Dirty Little Secret and let's not forget the only free song on Rock Band DLC at the moment, GLaDO's Still Alive. If they feature more of the mainstream hits of today, then maybe i will consider it. I don't really like the classics that much to pay a dollar for something i have never heard before.

without a doubt one of the best packs they have released. the unfortunate thing of our era is that most of the music sucks...the peppers will be one of the bands that our kids will listen to and im ecstatic that they got some more songs on this game

When the feck are they going to sign up some british bands that aren't 10 years old....or more.

Hard Fi
Arctic Monkeys
Libertines/Babyshambles

I can think of plenty of songs from their libraries that would make perfect rock banding.

@ number 37:

It matters not what bands people like - stop trying to be the internet tough guy whose opinion on music is all that matters. It doesn't matter how many songs Rock Band gets if I don't personally like them myself, that's why I'm liking the current free GH 3 stuff. It's not about being a "cheapskate" (the very fact I have these games negates your point, number 28) Who doesn't like free stuff?

I am probably the only one that thinks this but I think Rock Band has an overall better range of tracks from different genres though they do need to stop getting obscure bands that are starting up unless they drop the prices or bring some more free tracks...and if they brought out lots of tracks I liked each week I'd never have any money for anything else (I'm already eying up about 15 songs I can't get coz my next batch of points is going towards The Who and 3 single songs).

Saturday, July 05, 2008 @ 09:22:53 PM

Ugh. There is so much music in the world. If I had to guess, people generally only like less than 0.01 percent of it. Which is why most people bitch and moan about the new tracks. I suppose if they wanted to please the masses they'd put all top 40. Or at the very least, what was once top 40.

I'm not actually criticizing anyone. Just general bitching about the fact that we all still can't have exactly what we want. Wouldn't it be nice if we had the iTunes music selection at the very least? Yes, yes, I know it isn't possible due to the need for tracking down the sacred "Master Tracks". Someday we'll all live in a perfect world where we can get anything we want, on demand.

Gay.

and That would be pretty flipping sick if they did put out some good ol' Strokes. They should give us "the modern age" and "hard to explain" They should give us some other great ones like the cribs, bloc party, arctic monkeys. but all in all
they need some death from above 1979.
two guys, one bass, and one drummer, the drummer sings. but you should definetly check em out if your into some inventive fun stuff.

Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
