Big fan of XCOM, still play the original on the downstairs computer now and again. Only question is whether I should get this on the PC or Xbox. |

| @#10 - I'm not sure about that, the franchise still has an amazing following, plus, it's one of my most anticipated games for Q3 and I'm sure I'm not alone in that. Had a blast playing it this weekend and just want to get my hands on the full game now to really get stuck into it. Plus, strategy fans on consoles have had nothing to play really for a while, so chances are they'll look into this. |

Question for Webb - did you ever play the original Xcom games, if so, how would you say this version compares...if you even can compare them that is? Thanks, |

@#13 - Dammit! The secret's out! =P @#16 - I played the original many a moon ago, but honestly, it was brief and I didn't stick with it long, so it'd be unfair for me to compare the two based on my brief experience with the original. I have watched a few YouTube vids to refresh my memory though and see how similar they are, and while they're similar in concept, it's not a slavish copy and seems to take everything that worked in the original and fleshed it out for today's gamer. |

How are the controls working for a console strategy? Are they more on the lines of simple or advanced, maybe a mix of both? For me that would be the deal breaker on what platform I buy it for. |

From everything I've seen and read so far it really looks like Firaxis is not going to disappoint. Come on October 9th! |

@11 - I hope you're right, I really do. I've had this game paid in full for months now, and am eagerly awaiting its release. Just not sure how many gamers share our opinion. Remember Me showed off a combat video yesterday, and tons of people were bitching about making your own combos. If that shit scares them, what are they going to make of the many layers of XCOM? I hope it does really well, so we may actually see a few more strategy games make their way onto consoles, I'm just not holding my breath. |

@#18 - The controls are ridiculously simple and because it's turn-based, you never feel like the consoles are at a disadvantage. You select who you want to move with the bumpers, move the cursor with the thumbstick, A moves them and right trigger brings up the combat menu. It's that easy. There are a few issues with multi-storey buildings in terms of controls, but honestly, that seems to be a game issue as opposed to a console issue. Just because the controls are simple though doesn't mean the game is... far from it. The whole perma-death of the characters means you have to be extra careful when proceeding forward. |

@ dark wing (comments #3 and #18) The only reason for wanting to get this on console over PC, has to do with social and/or personal preferences, such do you want to play MP with your xbox friends? Do you want to join a Xbox party and chat while you play? things like this. Other than those reasons, there is no reason at all to get this on xbox over PC, since content-wise, they both offer the same experience, with PC offering a little more in the "extras" dept. Controls - The PC version has full support for both the xbox controller and a m/kb setup. In addition to this, each control scheme also has their own UI, so if you choose to play with a coontr0ller on PC, you will have the same UI as if you were playing on xbox. If you play with m/kb, you will have the PC specific UI. So you have the best of both worlds, with the better graphics and faster load times the PC can deliver, and if/when mods become available, you will be able to use them as well. Also, if you download the game through Steam, it's $10 cheaper, and available the minute the game releases. The only other argument I can see for wanting to play this on xbox, is the whole, "I want to sit on a couch and play on my TV" debate. I didn't bother mentioning this, since you can do that with a PC as well. So like I said, it literally comes down to personal preference. |

| Almost certainly going to get this. Not immediately; I already have Dishonored pre-ordered and I'm just at the tip of the Borderlands 2 iceberg. However the game looks great. Really like the style, getting an old-school alien invasion type feeling. Coupled with what seems to be really deep decision making and I'm extremely interested. |

@ Webb, thanks for the answer, good to know, appreciated. @ HORSE, I only know of two people getting this, both on the opposite platform. I could of course, buy it on the Xbox and wait until it goes on a Steam sale for the PC version or vice versa. Unfortunately, I'd reckon this will go down in price quite quickly on consoles. That however would depend on how much I enjoy the game. |

| Hey Webb, what is the save system like? In the original XCOM:UD you could save and load from anywhere, at any time. Then, years later the rip-off games (I can't remember what they were called) moved to more of a checkpoint system. Any idea which? Thanks for the preview! |

@#32 - No problem! @#33 - For the most part it's a save whenever you like, although there were a few occasions when it wouldn't let me (might have been mid-turn, which was why) but otherwise, save whenever. Well, that was the case on the medium difficulty. It might change for every difficulty level though, I know there is an Iron Man mode which saves it at every turn. |

I'm stoked for this as well as some of my co workers that work with me saw me playing a video of some of the recent gameplay and they have since pre ordered it as well. My only question is how to make the next 2 and a half weeks go by faster??? |

I know I'm a bit late to the party here Webb, but do aliens always 'announce' themselves like that? I know one of the scariest things about the original was seeing a blast from the middle of the dark not knowing where or what it came from. I think it would be a real shame and would detract from the overall tension of the game if that isn't included here. Thanks for any kind of clarification you might be able to give :) |

Played all the original ones on PC back in the days until they wrecked the series totaly with XCOM 3 and cancelled the FPS-version... XCOM: Interceptor was the opnly flightsimulator I ever got along with :) |

@#40 I think you are able to save your own games when you like. I'm almost certain it is not based on a checkpoint save system. The "Ironman" mode helps to confirm this, which makes it so you've only got one save slot and all auto saves and all your saves go to that slot – and the only thing you can do is save and exit. Why have save sots if you cannot save games? |

| @#44 - I think "shots from the dark" was announced as not being in the game. I forget the actual reasoning, but I think it was something like removing an aspect you have no control over. |
