DICE: Updates for Bad Company are on the Way Written Wednesday, July 02, 2008 by Dan Webb For those that have played Bad Company, you'll already know that the Conquest gametype is inbound because of the scrolling news system in the multiplayer mode, but how long do we have to wait? How much longer can we play one solitary game mode? Well, it shouldn't be too much longer according to DICE, who on their developer blog said that the "Conquest Pack is currently going through testing and certification." DICE haven't stopped there however. Following the Conquest Pack, they are preparing a general patch that says it will fix the following problems:

And remember, some issues may not appear on the systems that are provided for testing. And this is a heck of a lot better than the issues GTA4 had, so suck it up buddy. Or the point exploit people found in Rainbow Six Vegas 2 prior to the first patch. Or Universe at War which is basically ruined by its issues. The clan thing they should have thought of, as well as having a party system like other major titles, but its not a huge issue. |

Anyone remember the released and unplayable version of Bully? Exploits will show themselves once you release it to the general public. Testing for balancing skill is a bit harder with testers, since they're usually around the same skill range. Nice to hear this kind of support early in the game and it's a pretty good game to boot. Good stuff from DICE. |

Stop bashing Rockstar and praising DICE. If DICE had any decency as a company, they would have done the same thing Rockstar did with GTAIV: push back the release date until they can offer consumers a finished product. |

They did test it and didn't find those problems. Rockstar wasn't using consumers as beta testers. Sometimes you find more problems when you have a much larger group of people playing. It can't be helped. The only difference is that now it can be fixed later with a patch instead of the consumer being screwed. However, what DICE is doing here is flat-out BS. This game mode should have been in the game at launch instead of pulling this "you can't play this until we finish, hope you enjoyed paying $60 for an unfinished product!" nonsense. Yeah the game issues have not stopped me from enjoying Bad Company at all, in fact I think Bad Company is more like the original Desert Combat (which i LOVED! And still play. Like Battlezone, Advance Wars, and many others, I am loyal to the games I love) mod for Battlefield 1942 than their first Battlefield console release which did not appeal to me at all gameplay wise. Personally I feel like Bad Company should have been what came after Desert Combat. |
| Comment #62 by Kuzarno Voza Friday, July 04, 2008 @ 04:40:52 PM Leaderboard cheating is not necessarily an issue for me unless it prevents me from getting an achievement, but I have always thought that while being at the top of your game is an achievement in itself, I do not think that it is really fair to have it as a formal achievement and if you do that, then people who want the achievement but are not so good at multiplayer are going to have to cheat to get it. So I think that having "Dominate this in multiplayer" type achievements actually promote cheating. |
