The Who Heading to Rock Band

The Who Heading to Rock Band
Written Wednesday, July 02, 2008 by Dan Webb

It was recently announced that on the July 15th, iconic rock band, The Who will be heading to Rock Band with a monster update of 12 songs. The songs are priced at 160 MSP's per song or 1600 MSP for the full 12. The line up is as follows:

“Amazing Journey”
“Baba O'Riley”
“Behind Blue Eyes”
“Eminence Front”
“Going Mobile”
“Leaving Here”
“My Generation” (LIVE)
“Real Good Looking Boy”
“Sea & Sand”
“Summertime Blues” (LIVE)
“Who Are You”
“Young Man Blues” (LIVE)
(All tracks utilize the original master recordings)

Frontman, Roger Daltry said “We’re really pleased to have our songs featured in Rock Band,”, “It allows our established fan base to interact with our music in a way that’s fresh and exciting, while also exposing our songs to new audiences.”

“I’m a fan of Rock Band,” says Who guitarist Pete Townshend. “I play the game with my son and girlfriend and love the way it brings different generations together through music. I like the idea that people of all ages will be having fun playing our songs.”

Something worth rocking over? I do believe so. Bit rich for our liking... Maybe just slightly.

[Thanks to prowlerdante for the heads up]

@8

As opposed to all the new bands that sound like every other one. Damn whipper snappers don't know good music ^_^

I for one will be picking a few of these up. I've always loved The Who, although I'm a bit peeved that Pinball Wizard isn't on the list. That's my favorite song of all time.

Maybe they'll put the songs from Tommy on there eventually.

Cool songs Ill be getting a few of them- I think I can safely say that everyone wants either GnR's appetite for destruction or use your ilusion(1 or 2) and some alter bridge.

Cool. Did not know that. Haven't really looked into RB2 too deeply yet, but I thought I saw that Pinball Wizard was a possibility for RB1 at one point. Good to know we may get it someday. ^_^

Now, if only we can get something like 'Do you Want to Play' from GH: Rock the 80's. Anything that opens up with with a guitar version of classical music has to be fun, huh?

Sorry, I've been watching Bill and Ted again.

For everyone that says "just another old band", "these are expensive", there are 12 songs from one of the most famous bands in the history of rock, and you're complaining about paying $2.00 a song? Go back to guitar hero and pay 550 points (almost 7 dollars) for 3 songs. Sheesh

Wednesday, July 02, 2008 @ 02:50:24 PM

I'm glad they're continuing to bring in older, classic music.

Now if onl;y someone felt like shelling out the cash to get some Beatles music, we'd be good. Plus, who wants to play The Killers or Fall Out Boy? Honestly.

Ooooo... Zappa, Zeppelin, Floyd, AC/DC, Some more Stones and KISS....

Yeah, bring on the classics for us classical players...

And for those who are say they are too expensive, that's something you have to figure out for yourself. However, if you are a fan, you'll probably get it.

@43 I completely agree. Why have two songs no-one has heard of? (Leaving Here is a cover of an old 60's song that was on the 1998 re-issue of Odds and Sods, and Real Good Looking Boy I haven't found on any of their studio albums).

Also, for fans of drummer Keith Moon, there is a movie about his life in production (according to IMDB), starring Mike Myers (of Austin Powers fame) called "See Me Feel Me: Keith Moon Naked for Your Pleasure".

All they need now are Van Halen, more Boston, Jason Becker/Marty Friedman/Cacophony, Ozzy (w/Randy Rhoads), more Strokes, Interpol, the White Stripes, the Smiths, the Cure. Now that is some good music. Everyone needs to buy the Who pack. Some people just have no idea what they are going to be missing.

@33

Yeah, Antoher Brick in the Wall, Hey You, Money, Learning to Fly, Shine on...

I could deal with some Floyd ^_^

As for Zeppelin, who doesn't want to be able to play Stairway to Heaven... I mean, really.

And yes to some Van Halen! Honestly, I'll take a little from both the David Lee Roth days as well as the Sammy Hagar moments. Wouldn't mind a little straight Sammy either.. Three Lock Box, I Can't Drive 55...

Those who don't want old bands here should remember that everything today was built off these guys.

Anyway, I'll be picking them up with they come out live, regardless of the cost. Keep bringing the classics as far as I am concerned. I can actually sing most of them, instead of the new stuff I don't listen too ^_^

Dude. For a Who record at Best Buy you're gonna pay about as much as this. And you don't even get to play that.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
