NBA Live 13 Delayed Indefinitely

NBA Live 13 has been delayed indefinitely, EA Sports has confirmed. It had been believed to be hitting stores in October this year.

The game has been strangely quiet since E3 2012, when it picked up less than favourable previews from the press. Not a peep has been heard about the title since then.

Indeed, some worried that the title - which has had a team of 70 in place for just a year - might be scrapped completely. A similar fate befell the game’s predecessor, NBA Elite 11.

However, EA Sports remain publicly committed to the project. "The team is making steady progress, and we're continuing our work on NBA Live," said executive vice president Andrew House. "We remain focused on rebuilding this franchise for the future."

Another statement from the publishing label acknowledged the October release date but said, "our plan is to release at a later date. We will share more information in the future."

Here’s a new trailer.

I think EA needs to scrap the NBA series entirely and better focus on Madden, NCAA, FIFA, NHL, Tiger and the UFC franchises. Cut your losses already

Oh EA, just admit that you can't make a decent basketball game anymore and that you can't compete with NBA2K. Seriously, fist they try to bury the Live brand by renaming it NBA Elite, only to cancel it shortly before release, and now they're having another go at NBA Live only to delay it indefinitely? Just give it up already, EA.

@7 when will they just admit that they can't make any decent game? EA literally ruins everything! Even if they publish a game that is amazing, they immediately come out with a sequel that sucks monkey dick.

If EA released NBA Live 96 that came out back in the day on the Sega Genesis for Xbox live, that would be an easy day one purchase for me. This franchise has not been the same since.

@18 well, thats the best example i could think of.
the first game is one of my favs and imho one of the best rpg i ever played. and ME2?...EA couldn't completely manage their task to turn something good in something bad...they needed time until ME3^^ (tbh, i didn't play ME3, only the demo. the moment i had to reload the first time was the end for me)

They must be upset that 2k has a monopoly on basketball without having an expensive, exclusive contract like the one EA had to get for Madden.

Just a comment to clear up the rampant misperception about game publishers versus developers. All those saying EA craps up everything and then mention Mass Effect is a pointless argument. EA publishes Mass Effect they have nothing to do with its creation and development. Only thing you can complain about with EA on Mass Effect is the advertising, marketing, etc… that is all they are responsible for with that game. BioWare creates and develops Mass Effect. Another example Kingdoms of Amalur is an awesome game. Created and developed by 38 Studios, but published by EA. Also Mass Effect 3 was and is EPIC.

Now on topic let’s just hope that without competition NBA 2K doesn’t become Madden once we no longer had NFL 2K.

Do you really think such a big company like EA wouldn't influence the development of a product they selling under their name? I'm sure they do.
Is EA to blame for me not liking ME2, for turning one of the greatest rpg in an action-adventure because more people would buy it? I'm not sure...but I do it anyway :)
And when you say that ME3 was and is EPIC, do you mean before and after they changed the end?
But I want to believe you...I would love ME3 to be epic. I'll play ME3 and Kingdoms of Amalur to see if you are right ;)

On topic: The best EA NBA game is still NBA Jam...Boom Shakalaka!!!

Yes it was EPIC before they changed the ending and EPIC after they changed it that is exactly what I meant. And in the case of ME2/3 yes I'm saying EA had nothing to do with the direction of the game. They dumbed down the RPG elements in ME2 and made it more of a shooter to appeal to a larger audience. That decision was made by Casey and the team and BioWare not EA.

EA just needs to accept the fact that the 2K brand has NBA on lockdown.

What goes around comes around. EA cancelled Visual Concepts attempt at Madden 96 on PS1 because EA shat themselves at the sight of the opposition. Now Visual Concepts are the opposition that made EA cancel the NBA Live series.

On the downside, there's the online servers cutoff thing ...

I love nba 2k, but it needs nba live so it will still stay innovative, and not stagnate like madden.
