First Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes Screens Rain Supreme

The first ultra-sexy screenshots from Hideo Kojima's open-world entry in the Metal Gear series, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes have popped up today, showing Snake/Big Boss getting drenched out on the rainy battlefield and sporting some rather fetching night vision goggles that may or may not have been nicked from Sam Fisher's locker.

As you'd expect it all looks jaw-droppingly good, with Snake/Big Boss braving the rain to sneak his way onto a guarded complex, with helicopters searching for the man in the stealthy sneaking suit with their spotlights. As well as Snake/Big Boss, you'll also get to see some of Ground Zeroes' other characters, including a disfigured chap that we can only assume is a bad guy, and a little kid.

Who are they all? We're not sure, but rumour has it that the kid with the headphones is a young Raiden undergoing some form of conditioning. Curious... Check out seven of the ten new screenshots below, then click on over to the gallery for the rest.

Unless I missed something, it wouldn't figure correctly if it were Raiden. This is probably set in the 60's or 70's. Raiden was born and found in Liberia as a small child by Solidus in the 80's. I figure it's possibly Chico, as they mention both him and Paz in the trailer.

@3 Depends how its all used and how efficient the FOX Engine really is.

Don't forget that Skyrim is only 3.8gb when installed on your Xbox 360 (and the PC install is only 6gb).
That's not a small game by any means.

@8 It's Big Boss who has aged since Peace Walker, I'm not sure however how long after Peace Walker this game is set.

Dont get your hopes up on this being the level of quality of graphics in the final game, these shots were taken from the recent video but that video was rendered on a super powerful pc. Since this is a current gen release this wont be the quality of graphics on console and most gaming PC's.

Although if even the graphics arent as good on release I will love this game. Cant wait for it

impressive and mind-blowing dramatic-conspiracy story. definitely GOTY nominee whatever year it's release-date on.

and that kid maybe a young raiden,and "friend" in Cipher they mentioned is 'Ocelot' i think.

Can't believe no-one else here has thought of this, but I'm 95% positive that the kid is a young Grey Fox, seeing as it's common knowledge that Big Boss rescued him as a child...

Its not Grey Fox he was somewhere in his 20s in portable ops which is before peace walker.
For everyone else it is Big Boss with the goggles, the kid is Chico they said it during the presentation.

Looks like a real MGS, unlike the Raiden one coming out.

And what's with Snake/Big Boss, Richard? You realize Solid Snake and Big Boss are two different people right? Or are you referring to Big Boss as his alias, Naked Snake?
