| That really really sucks for anyone who bought from game. I've preordered a few games from the HMV website and never had my points expire before, so hopefully they are safe now as well. I guess I get to spend mine on Soul Calibur!! |

that is complete bullshit, the whole point of giving away the points was to save them for the dlc that would come out later, according to games website.
my hmv points better not expire or ill be asking for code to get 1000 points back. |

| Oh yeah, and @ Lozerbick - the Live Gold free trials should be safe as they're a service provided in the box by the publisher and not a bit of bait from a company trying to get you to buy the game from their store. It looks like Game have just skimped on the quality for more profits yet again. |

is this a fucking joke? what a scam. the whole idea of getting the game with the points was to pay towards the DLC.
also, what if u added the points to your account, but already have plenty of points, which points get used first when u purchase something? i paid 400 points on an XBLA game the other day, will i still get 500 points removed as i have over 500 points left?!?!?!

Exactly. I read the news just a couple minutes ago and just realized that I still had 4500Mp to use and that they where not on my account yet. So I tried to type the codes in, but it was too late. So I cried a little.
And I demand a refund. I even called the support, they said that these codes had turned invalid a while back. Perhaps last week or something.
They could at least said something about the codes expiring...

screw you, people have been promised a service and it has now been revieled it will be taken away from them.
the point is that the ms points were for the dlc coming soon, and nothing was said about the points expiring, so people who bought from game so they could have 500 ms points have been scammed. |

| I never got any points. Never even know they were giving our free points till I read this. I had preordered it from Gamestop so idk if they even gave out points or if i just got shafted by the store I got it from. Unless it was packaged in the game in which case I didn't read any of the papers that came with it so it was my own fault. |

Wow, that's really lame. Ontario recently passed a law on cash-equivalent cards and certificates. By law, if issued after October 1st 2007, they (the cards, certificates, etc.) can't go bad, and can't legally have an expiration date. I don't know if MS points cards are covered by the law, but judging by the government page they very well could be. One could argue that the card has no monetary value though, as it was a gift with the pre-order, and therefore isn't subject to the law. I'm not certain in this case. Might be worth looking into, apparently 24 states in the US have equivalent laws, at least according to the Ontario Gov website.

For the Americans who have no idea what GAME and HMV is, they're UK stores, like Gamestop. the points were exclusive offers by them if u pre-ordered GTA4. the points were sent by email from them on release day. Nothing at all was mentioned about points expiring. They purposely led people to believe they could be spent on the DLC in the fall.
@#42 i wouldn't blame MS, it was the stores' false advertising, not MS's fault. PS3 wont even have the DLC anyway |

got mine from HMV (online) too, but my points card didn't work. the silver panel was missing and code was 'invalid'..after phoning from MS to HMV back and forth i discovered i couldn't do anything about it!
thats terrible though. what an utter rip off.
