| I've read from multiple other sources that females were always planned. They didn't want to annoince it so soon, but they were feeling the pressure of the petition and all the false sexist assumptions that went with it. It was going to be a staggered release of co-op character jnformation, but the petition and internet outcry forced them to change their strategy. |

| My wallets gonna be real thin next year. They havnt even announced the summer and fall/holiday games. Im already planning on buying something like 6 games in febuary and march of next year.That's double what im planning on buying this holiday. |

I would have been highly disappointed if there had been no female characters in this game. For 1 it would have just screamed were lazy & don't want to do any more work. And 2 The Alien series main character Ripley, come Alien & even Prometheus is centered around a strong willed women who fights against the odds stacked against her.
I'm glad they decided to include females in Colonial Marines, I always loved how the film Aliens showed if you are male or female we can all be equal in getting slaughtered by the perfect species, & kick some Xeno ass before we go. |

I've been ready for this game to come out sine February. Now that BL 2 is wrapped up, aside from dlc, this game will get the attention it deserves. |

| She won't be able to top Vasquez. I always found it funny though that as badass as she was in that movie, Cameron put her in other movies where you wouldn't even recognize her. Like the mother of those kids down on the "poor deck" of the ship in Titanic. |

Why choose to flatly ignore that Gearbox rather emphatically states female characters were always planned, but just not available at the time of the E3 demo?
Don't pretend that a couple thousand signatures on an e-petition actually had an effect on anything. |

| I'm honestly disappointed with this news, and no its not because I'm sexist. I just feel that women have already been portrayed as strong versatile characters in the Alien franchise and I don't think we need another one to do the same thing. The heros in Aliens are always female, Im just saying I'd like to see a group of competent male leads. That and when females are randomly thrown into games like this, they are always made into a sex symbol. There's always that one person who's like "I'd rather stare at a girl the whole time." I'm not sure about you but I don't spend an entire game staring at a character model I actually focus on playing the game, and if you absolutley feel the need to stare at a video game girl while playing you must be very uncomfortable with your sexuality. There I'm done sorry about the rant just speaking my mind. |

@#27: No, what I am saying is that this is just shooty-shooty pew-pew game and whether there is a female or not in it really shouldn't be petition-worthy.
For God's sake, it isn't like this is some important artistic game with a political or social message. You see alien, you kill alien. Who cares if women are in the game or not? If it was all women in the game, I wouldn't be signing some petition over it. |

@#24 - But there should be female characters just based on the fact that there were other females besides Vasquez on the team of marines in Aliens.
They aren't as high profile, but Dietrich (the medic) and Ferro (the pilot) were still very prominent members of the team.
So to that end, females should be present as Marines just to keep up with the dynamics set forth in the film.
And with the other things that are so far annoyingly inconsistent with the film, they need the diversity this in game. |

| @#32 yah I do agree with you there, diversity can add alot of dimension to a team and sticking to source material is never a bad thing, but it seems at least in this case that Gearbox was forced to put a character in their game they had never planned on which in my opinion is un-needed as I'm sure the original team would have had plenty of dimension and deversity alone. |
