Team Bondi Reveals Whore of the Orient Details, Headed to Next-Gen [Updated With Screenshot]

Remember back in November last year we carried a story about Team Bondi’s next game, Whore of the Orient? Well, the first real news on the game has been released today.

Whore of the Orient is in development for next generation consoles and PC, making it one of the first games to be officially, properly announced for the hardware both Microsoft and Sony seem keen to deny the existence of.

The blurb reads, “Shanghai, 1936. Whore of the Orient. Paris of the East. The most corrupt and decadent city on the planet, where anything can be had or done for the right price. Plaything of Western powers who greedily exploit the Chinese masses. Boiling pot of Chinese nationalism, with the Kuomintang ruthlessly trying to suppress Communism and the labour movement. Home to the International Police Force, a group of Western cops hopelessly trying to keep the lid on and keep the peace.

“From the development team who brought you LA Noire and The Getaway, along with the Academy Award winning film production team of Kennedy Miller Mitchell comes a completely new and original IP being developed for next generation games consoles and PC.”

Expect plenty more in the weeks to come.

	@1 Where you so eager to post first that you forgot some of your sentence? lol. That aside, La Noir kinda left a bitter taste in my mouth, so I don't know what to think about this.

	Bit of an odd name (not looking forward to picking that up fron a store), but I am looking very much forward to this as LA Noire was very enjoyable (although I am unconvinced theh can get this done without Rockstar, cause they basically saved LA Noire's development).

	Just the description alone is making me excited. I liked LA Noire. It was different. Sure, the gameplay kind of sucked, but the world itself was wonderful. I'm still hoping on a new Getaway, though...

	#5 I highly doubt Rockstar will have anything to do with this. By the end of L.A. Noire Rockstar and Team Bondi were not getting along. Loved L.A. Noire, unfortunately I won't be getting into next gen for some time unless I run into quite a bit of extra cash.

	Wow sounds extremely ballsy for a video game. Even the title isn't something you'd hear often. Considering both this and that I loved LA Noire I'll keep my eye on this for sure.

	This sounds really, really interesting. I love that we're seeing more historical games now. That synopsis could have easily come from some arty foreign movie.

	"Shanghai, 1936.".....and 1 year later, the Japanese invade. I wonder if the end of this game, will show them invading? Probably not, just a thought.

	Bet it gets renamed before release. They couldn't originally get away with bully in UK and the beep whore out of songs on the wireless (that's radio for you kids). Hopefully next gen official announcement will be here soon.

	? Not enough details to tell me what the games will be like. There's a story and background info, but no details on gameplay? For all I know this could be a rickshaw racing game

	Loved The Getaway (1, not 2 really), and love LA Noire so far. I'll definitely get this one, sight unseen. This is how you do interactive movies, Mr Cage; you hire people who can actually write and offer some semblance of real gameplay.

	Team Bondi is no more, they've been liquidated. Literally, the company's gone, it's employees disbursed mainly between Rockstar and Kennedy Miller Mitchell. KMM is the company with the rights to Whore of the Orient (bad title), and Brenden McNamara will be heading the project. I like the concept, sounds interesting. LA Noire is one of my favorites.

	Hmm I was under the impression that Team Bondi had been disbanded due to the fiasco surrounding LA Noire. Good to hear that they're still around.

	Somehow I doubt a game with 'Whore' in the title is getting to get by many censors. I can see it being renamed before it hits the shelves.

	I'll give this a go despite being disappointed by LA Noire. It was alright, but apart from the facial animations it wasn't special or remarkable.
