Mass Effect 3: Leviathan Trailer Rises From the Depths

BioWare has released a trailer for Mass Effect 3's upcoming Leviathan add-on, which promises to feature a fresh chunk of single-player content.

Taking place during the events of Mass Effect 3, the add-on introduces new characters, weapons and upgrades as Shepard and the gang race around space on the trail of a mysterious foe. "Something lurks in the dark corners of space," says the blurb, "something powerful enough to kill a Reaper. Shepard must discover the most closely guarded secret in the galaxy before the Reapers silence it forever. "

There's also talk of the add-on altering the ending of the game somewhat. Again.

Leviathan hits on August 28th for 800 MSP. Trailer's below.

Not interested, personally. I liked Mass Effect 3, but I've never been a huge fan like I know a lot of people are and found the third underwhelming, and not because of the ending.

I can't wait to add another 100+ war assets to this arbitrary number that reflects none of my choices!

I hope this waste of time DLC fails hard enough that BioWare just cancels the rest of their planned DLC for this trash.

I can't say this looks too interesting to me. I really loved the first two games but the third wasn't nearly as enjoyable, regardless of the endings. And Im not really interested in fighting even more of the same five enemies I fought in the main game far too many times already. I agree with #11 bring on "Retake Omega"

So Mass Effect 3 is going Biblical now? When I first saw the title I noticed the resemblence with Demonology but didn't thought anything behind it.

But now seeing the trailer where we go searching for a giant sea monster the only thing I can see now is were going to search for Biblical creatures.

EDI!!!

@16
Huh? If you want to go that far, Reapers are basically giant space-squid, so a sea creature isn't that much of a shake up.

Might wait and see to find out how much Leviathan changes the ending. Honsetly singleplayer DLC for this game is pretty much pointless. Sure it may be some great quality DLC, but in the end what is the point? Ive completed the trilogy and it was a great ride. The problem is that We aleady know the ending and even if Leviathan changes the ending just a tidbit it still doesnt mean anything in the end. Now if i was guarunteed a sequel to ME3 where the game heavily took into account the decisions i made including the Leviathan DLC and other SP DLC, then i would probably buy DLC. But until then Im going to let my shepard rest in peace, he has more than earned it.

@ 19: Stop. Just stop. You are by far the worst mass effect troll I have ever heard from. If you hated the game that bad then avoid it. Don't go around complaining because it didn't end how you wanted it to. Go play Gears of War or Left for Dead, heck even Halo instead of complaining about it. They are all great games and have great stories. You are a very hardcore gamer, I can tell by how many games you have played and I respect the fact that you have an opinion. I'm just sick of reading your comments of how bad Mass Effect 3 sucks. I know you have beaten 1 and 2 100%, and you even beat 3! Obviously you cared enough to finish the story so can't you just accept its over and move on? I'm sorry man, I'm just sick of the trolls. Move on. Enjoy life! Enjoy gaming!

#18, couldn't agree more. Additionally, you would have to activate DLC before going to Earth which means you have to play through the whole Earth battle and final sequence all over again. Not interested. Been there and done that several times already.

@20 you sir have summed it up perfectly not only for arguably one of best ever trilogies, but also gaming as a whole, I love gaming and used to enjoy looking at other peoples views and opinions in these very forums, but it has changed to negative comments against games that are just announced, the staff that work tirelessly on this site and just trolls in general, come on enjoy gaming and the effort people goto to make walkthroughs etc
The trolls should goto YouTube

@20 and 25: I'm with you guys, these games are among the greatest stories ever told, and while i don't like how my choices have little impact in the end, it didn't ruin it for me.

why idiots like @19 feel the need to clog up the forums, news feeds and pretty much everything else with their bull-shit is beyond me, if you have no interest in something get lost because WE DON'T CARE what you think.

i cant wait to get this and see what they've added, personally i want the game to add up to a nice round 2'000 GS :)

Well looks good but for some reason, I'm not interested in this game's DLC as much as I was with previous Mass Effect, The reason being the story of shephard has been told and few missing links won't do much difference so not much excited.

Wishing other people enjoy it as Bioware did a lot of effort with free ending dlc and tons of free MP add ons

I'm in, but I agree with 29. It won't make much of a difference as far as the ending goes. It's been a while since I've played so I'm looking forward to picking it back up. This DLC gives me a reason to.

@22 I totally agree. It would have been nice even if the ending doesn't change to maybe make this SP DLC a flashback to a fight we never saw. That way there I wouldnt have to play through that whole level and deal with holding off waves of the same enemies. I wish we could just access it from the main menu not in game or something :(

The DLC for this game should really be side story that adds to what happened while Shepard was kicking ass and taking names. Shepard's story is finished. I will get it to see if it makes a difference but when a sale hits or if I win some free MS points.

I feel the mass effect games have got subsequently worse - still all good games (better than most tripe out there) but 1 is by far the best.

I don't know. I just don't know how I feel about this. It looks good, maybe on par with Arrival DLC, but not as good as Shadow Broker. However it won't change the ending in any way. I'm just on the fence on dropping 800msp that won't change a damn thing.

I don't care if it doesn't change the ending, most game's DLC don't change endings anyway. This DLC adds more game time for all my subsequent sheps before they finish the game. As for being worth it.. I'll not presume anything, I'll simply wait until I finish it before I say anything on that matter.

@32: I don't think there'll be any achievements for this as there hasn't been any updates for the ME3 achievement list, and since it comes out on the 28th and today is the 25th, I don't tnik they'll be coming now, Bioware may decide to add more achievements than normal into their next piece of DLC though and obviously at a few extra points.

I don't understand why there is still so much hate towards the developers of this fantastic franchise. This piece of content will surely be a worthwhile addition to the game, and I am looking forward to it greatly.

I enjoy going back through my long running game franchises from the beginning occasionally. Whenever I decide to go through Mass Effect with a new character it will certainly be nice to have more things to do before embarking on that final mission as Shepard.

#46 I knew those thing happened when developers rip off for part of reasons and some hate franchise either also ending problems for many people weren't happy with in ME 3 so there patch DLC for it to fixed then most of people happy after all but still many hate developers. I don't hate them but BioWare made their mistake as it is happen lol I agreed with you Mass Effect series alway brilliant and no matter if something small problems or bad. :)

I don't really understand the complaints about Mass Effect. I understand not wanting to get the DLC. Most DLC is simply "cashing in" on a franchise, especially when it doesn't have achievements. Though, whether this has achievements or not in it, I don't really care. I'm going to get it for the chance to have a Reaper on my team. Also, for the guy complaining about Bioware using "Bible" references... They are talking about the "Leviathan of Dis" which was a derelict ship found by the Batarians near the planet Dis. We're basically chasing that ship in this DLC, from what I understand.

I'm going to get this because I actually enjoyed all of the Singleplayer DLC content of every Mass Effect game to date. Pinnicle Station was fun the first time and sucked when I did it four more times... But it was decent for what it cost. All the DLC in ME2 was pretty good. Yes, even the stuff without achievements. I expect all the Singleplayer DLC in Mass Effect 3 will be good as well. Especially if it's more missions. Weren't enough of those in ME3 in my opinion. I liked getting off of the Citadel and going to different places. I hated having to come back to turn in quests and pick up more quests.

The only reason i disliked the ending is because sheperd survived getting shot by a reapers beam which has killed millions of people and thousands of ships.

BACK ON DLC
