| I think they should offer this for everyone who bought the original Kinect for FREE. I mean why the f*** do I want to stand up, a mile from my TV for my connect to recognise me, in order to take ages to sign me in (if it recognises me) when I can do it quicker on my controller? I wanna be able to sit on my chair, not matter how close, look the Kinect in the eyes, and say "Bitch, please"...then be logged in |

@4 No one is forcing it on you. Has someone at Microsoft held a gun to your head and ordered you to buy one?, I think not.
Like most people I don't like KINECT (@3), I'm a hardcore gamer and the sensor just doesn't cut it. The only reason I own one is 'coz I beta tested and they let me keep it. However, it is good they're looking to provide a nice variety of games for the next Xbox. The next-gen keeps looking sweeter and sweeter. |

@ 6 I very much doubt this tec will be compatible for every game whilst we are still alive.
It has wayy too many flaws which for some games could never be over come.
Then there's the fact of wanting to use it The controller is the tried and trusted method because it works.

Thanks to all of you talking on my behalf through the use of "we".
I'm quite looking forward to the advancement of the Kinect technology and it takes a level of maturity to see that regardless of how you apply it to games, it's a great piece of kit with a massive amount of potential.
Grow up and accept that not everything in the world is geared for YOU. If you don't like it, don't moan about it - simply accept that there are other audiences and that it's existence doesn't impede on sad little lives devoted to peacocking a gamerscore to other wannabe gamers.
It's part of the Xbox experience and it seems to be part of the platform's future too so eithe rlike it or - and given the kneejerk reaction to Kinect titles you type of people would probably get rid of a console to spite yourselves - lump it. |

it's been announced for ages that kinect v2 will come with the next xbox.
kinect is good, if you have the room.

I hate Kinect, and while it's true no one is forcing anyone to buy it, Microsoft have been making the dashobard easier to use with Kinect and a pain in the ass with a controller. We are also starting to see Kinect-only achievements in games (Ok that's more the developer than M$ but whatever)
It will get to the point where, if you want to get the best out of your Xbox and all your games, you will need Kinect.
So no, they aren't forcing Kinect on anyone, they are forcing things (Dashboard mainly) that require Kinect to operately easily/normally. |

I love Kinect, it is great fun but it just isn't good enough for these bigger games. Rise of Nightmares is an example, had a good idea & chance, but just didn't work. |

| I bought my Kinect for 10 quid on a boot sale! (and I have used it about 6 times) I now feel epic as i wasnt mugged off for 80 quid (Plus its going on Ebay for a nive tidy profit!) |

I was a big fan of Kinect when it first came out but I dont see how this type of gaming can ever be considered anything other than a gimmick to sucker casual gamers. The Gunstringer was brilliant in parts but the frequency with which Kinect fails to accurately represent your movements on screen ruins it. The last Gunstringer dlc (the shotgun 1) is a nightmare to play because the level of tracking accuracy just isnt good enough.
Kinect 2 tracking finger movements is bollocks, maybe carefully orchestrated tech demos in perfect conditions will show that the hardware is capable of it, but we all know when people get theirs home it wont work properly; in exactly the same way that the current Kinect doesnt live up to its pre release hype |

| Please Microsoft, just let it die. The vast majority of gamers don't want it or the half-arsed games that are released for it - Kinect Star Wars should have been a game changer, but that was a fucking travesty. The price of the next Xbox better not be ramped up by the inclusion of Kinect 2.0. |

I agree that the technology of Kinect is exceptional and what it could lead to is exciting to think about; but, at the moment it is ONLY being used as a new games 'controller' so if a gamer doesn't like it, they're allowed to. |

as long as the space you play in does not affect it, i will be happy. and if it is actually better. because i was totally disappointed with Kinect, i hate dance games, i hate work out games, the only thing that was OK was the Kinect Sports, and even then i just felt like i was playing a wii.
so they have better made some improvements inorder to get me to wanna have one again. even though anyone who buys a next gen Xbox will have Kinect 2 inside no matter if you want it or not. |

with out kinect i would have to rely on skyrims nonsensical equip methods/favorite items list! (erm... I have a dpad but cat use it for potions/quickspells or pretty much anything :()) I loved fall out 3/liked oblivion.
Kinects voice features have enhanced games, the kinect itself is fun for games that are wii quality (I know thats not much but hey, and there is a select few really good games on the wii) and good for kids and a few good titles which are not my usual games but gunstringer even with flawed tracking was worth picking up one cheap.
Sounding like a robot when your too lazy to plug in a headset was ok. It has its uses and can only get better, like anything i guess. I've used it more than I did that live cam 0.3 mega pixel thing/totem ball/strip uno.... at any rate :)
Also I believe the first kinect had its own processor removed to bring price down to affordable (be it dumbed down) game play levels so kinect v2 is overdue. Make things optional instead of needed, might not be good for sales but better for the gamers on a whole. |
