Aliens: Colonial Marines

A new developer diary for Aliens: Colonial Marines has been hatched by SEGA, with the fellas from Gearbox Software discussing the invention of new breeds of Xenomorph and a new squad of Marines to take them down, as well as certain unseen elements of the movies' weapons.

The team talk about their favourite weapons and the creation of scopes and interfaces for the SMART Gun and other weapons, while imagining exactly how a Xenomorph hive functions. There's a glimpse at concept art showing some of the newly introduced breeds, as well as gameplay footage from the game's multiplayer in the video.

There's plenty to check out in the video below then, with contributions from all of the key Gearbox players. Aliens: Colonial Marines is out on February 12th, 2012.

	Still think its bollocks how Hadleys Hope is still standing after being hit by a nuclear device at the end of the Aliens movie, but still really looking forward to this.

	As long as I can be a facehugger, freak them out with it then I'll be happy. Also someone made a mistake on this article since it says this game was about 6 months ago.

	Well, the thing is, if there's a queen, like they keep showing, then the devs contention that the xenomorphs will just kill you is wrong. They'd incapacitate you, take you back the hive and confine you until a face-hugger could impregnate you. In Aliens, after the xenomorphs capture Newt, Ripley pleads with Hicks to go rescue her saying "They don't kill you! They don't kill you!" So this concept is in the movie... I dunno, but coupled with the fact that it takes place in an installation that should be a "cloud of vapor the size of Kansas", and that the rescue effort is 17 weeks instead of 17 days makes me wonder if these guys are into the film as much as they profess in these videos. I'm still very interested in this game, but all of these little niggling errors could add up to disappointment... :/
