Doom 3: BFG Edition

Doom 3: BFG Edition Screens Are Hell on Earth

Bethesda has released some new high-resolution screenshots for Doom 3: BFG Edition, showing the classic hellbound shooter looking super-slick and better than ever.

There are demons galore getting up in your face, but thanks to your armour-mounted flashlight you can keep the hellspawn at bay with both hands. Doom 3: BFG Edition remasters id Software's seminal horror FPS with all of the add-on packs and seven new levels for the 'Lost Mission.

It'll also have 5.1 surround sound, 3D support, new lighting and rendering and a re-tuned control system, as well as achievements. Check out all seven Doom 3: BFG Edition screenshots in the gallery, then keep your flashlight on for the game's release in October.

Was a pretty good looking game in the first place. Don't know if I'm ready to rebuy it any time soon though.

I've got this preordered and am looking forward to it but I don't think that top image looks all that well rendered - very cardboard cut out looking.

I wonder how much they'll be selling this for, that'll define if I buy it, I'll likely wait until its around £20, like I'm waiting for the other HD games to come down to.
I did love the game, but I'm not spending £30, for something I could get for alot less if I went looking for it.

I'd really like to get it at some point. I have 3 for the original xbox, but I don't have one and the backwards compatibility on 360 is really buggy. I'll wait till its $20 or less. Besides, there are already more games coming out in the next few months (as is the case every year) than I can afford or have time for in such a short amount of time. Its already difficult to narrow down the day/week 1 purchases and this can wait for me.

3d support with turtle beaches, a big screen, a fridge filled with cold beer and the lights turned out, dang it'll be a great 1,000 achievement points to farm :)

I've already pre-ordered this game. I also started playing the original xbox versions on my 360, but couldn't finish it due to some glitches. I can't wait to play it.

@8 not a long wait then, it's a budget release, meaning only £25, and the last few of them have been below £20 within 2 weeks

i'll buy it, even though i'm not a fan of doom 3, but it has extra levels i aint played so it's gotta be done,

then i'll load up my pc version with ultra settings, i'll see which looks better, betting on the PC, even though those textures are from several years ago (well, the game is older than the 360, so....)

Looks exactly like it did eight years ago. No idea what "remastering" they're talking about.

I hope that it'll be toggleable or something, to appease both sides. Free patch later? Anyways, I was hoping that after they released Doom 1 and 2 on XBLA (and then put 1 back up not too long ago), that this deserved a Games on Demand (which would bring back online multiplayer) or at least an Xbox Originals release. I mean, if Crysis could get one, why not this? And even though I have the PC version, and the stand and Collector's Edition for the original Xbox, I'm really excited about this (though getting those for dirt-cheap years after release might have something to do with it), at least I won't have to buy the Resurrection of Evil add-on for either system like I thought I might have to.

I'm curious as to how substantial these "Lost Levels" are, and if they were truly scrapped during the game's development, or just put together for this release. Also curious as to whether or not the Doom 1 and 2 included in this (like the Collector's Edition of Doom 3) are just the XBLA games on a disc, would make sense (and would be a $15 value).

As for the griefers: A) I know nobody usually cares about the PS users here, but they never got Doom 3 on a console, so this is for them as well. B) Look at how many re-releases Doom 1 and 2 have had. How many of them were pointless and lacked new content? Exactly, this is a step in the right direction. C) Even though, yes they probably made this to get more money, chances are this was specifically released to get money towards Doom 4 to make up for the void Rage's sales were supposed to fill, which is ultimately a good thing. And the more money towards Doom 4, the higher of a chance for good sales, which may provide the revenue for Rage 2.

standard* not stand. Also, loved both versions of Doom 3, would have bought this separately as a GoD like Crysis for around the same price, nevermind the fact that it includes the add-on, new content and Doom 1 and 2, but even all that doesn't make it a day one purchase at $40 (I have Doom 2 on XBLA), probably gonna pick it up. at $20 - $30.

I love HD remakes had a blast with Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary and Crysis HD, I loved both of those because they where my first time playing both of them and I completed both Halo CE Anniversary and Crysis HD. Looking forward to completing this. Lucky PC Gamers don't know how spoiled they are they just got a remake of Half Life 1 which looks and plays amazingly. I think us Console gamers should get a Half Life remake aswell and also a Halo 2 Anniversary. That would satisfy all my remake cravings just saying. In any event excited for Doom 3 BFG, Doom 4, and Rage 2!
