@4 @5 - Nope. It's not going to allow you to stick an XB360 disk in your PC and play the games. What they are suggesting is the potential for cross-platform compatibility for downloadable titles and the evolution of the Games for Windows Live program. |

Tablets are just a fad at the moment. Someone with a smartphone or laptop doesn't really need one, as they're quite job-specific (estate agents, suits who do a lot of presentations, lecturers, etc.) Although it's quite a decent thing to have, I won't be getting one. It's a huge waste of money buying an expensive bit of kit that does what you can already do on any smartphone or computer. Hell, even the iPad only has a Logic Studio controller as opposed to the actual program. Why would you even buy that? |

Still really want a tablet as they're better (more fun) than a netbook for casual browsing and media viewing which is what I currently use. The problem is price, my 250gig HDD Intel Atom netbook with Windows 7 cost me £230 two years ago. Decent tabs are £300 at the moment and they don't seem worth the asking price compared to a netbook and all the extra a netbook can do. For me I'd want this to be sub £300, ideally £200- £250 for an 8.9" screen and be compatible with the WP7 games at least. |

| For those who question the relevance of tablets in a market saturated with other means of performing the same tasks via smart phones and laptops I leave you with these juicy tidbits. Windows RT is more of a direct competitor for the tablet market that runs the app style Windows 8 while the Windows Pro flovour is a fully fledged version of the Windows 8 OS functioning in a slightly larger than 10" form factor weighing in at under 2 pounds. To those rocking iPads and find that they are walking around with an oversized touch and crave the power to be able to perform the exact same tasks that they could on their PC then I would strongly suggest looking into Surface, or any of the other tablet OEMs who have hoped onboard. |

@39 Yes it is sad. Anyway it will I'm sure there will be exclusive games for these tablets and just like the Windows phones they will most likely have achievements. Anyway I can't wait, wish it would come out sooner so I can start using it at the beginning of the fall semester but waiting an extra month isn't bad at all seeing as I have waited this long for a tablet. |

| I'd like to see this link into games like the Wii-U is supposed to or like the GBA did with the Gamecube. For example playing a game like Armored Core on your Xbox but using the Tablet as the controller. That way you could have your TV follow you around in 3rd person whilst the tablet shows the game in 1st person. You could then have commands coming up that you use by pressing the touch screen etc. |

Windows 8 will support any software available on Windows 7, including Steam and games. The RT tablet will not support "core" PC games though because of its ARM processor. If MS is smart, they'll allow a unified front meaning you can "install" Xbox games to your PC and them stream from the PC to a Surface to essentially play Xbox/PC quality games on tablet over the internet. On Newell's comment, MS is going to have an App Store integrated directly into Windows 8 which will include games. Sure PC gaming enthusiasts (including myself) will continue using Steam, but how many new people will they get when you can go directly through the App Store? That's why he made his comments. |

From what I heard Microsoft's tablet is going to be a one-off system. Mainly they want to promote their OS then have third party tablet devices use it. This was the strategy used by Google to get their OS launched. Irregardless, Microsoft would be wise to integrate the vast tablet community into the Xbox community. Stiff competition looms over Microsoft with Apple's tablets general base. |

@58 Right now there isn't any indication that WP7 titles will be ported over to Windows 8. The thing that many people struggle to realize is that this is a computer OS running on a tablet. Not a phone OS ported to a tablet. The WP8 titles have a greater chance to be ported up to Windows 8 as there is a shared kernel and Microsoft has included a wider breadth of programming languages. This means that to go from one system to the other could take as little as a week. @Those asking what the XBLA games will be called on the new WP8 OS - they will be called what they are now, XBLA titles. There has never been a different moniker for these titles. It's been one of the many ways Microsoft has attempted to merge the different markets into a singular experience. So to recap: Achievements will be found on three fronts as they are now, XBox, Games for Windows, and XBLA titles on your WP. The tablet is a computer as far as OS's go. Porting titles from phone to PC and vice versa will be easier and therefore the hope is we will see a better selection of titles on both platforms. Hope this helps |

| All sounds cool and great but looking at the curent market for tablets and touch screen phones the market clearly belongs to Apple, just try and go buy another tablets even if they way better then an Apple tablet like the Transformer TF-201 from Asus, its clearly better in performance and has a better grahics chip in there then those apples, and still they dominate the market and why? If you go to any shop that selling tablets casings or any other form expensions for your tablets all you see is "Apple tablet" and rarely stuff for the many other tablets brands that are around, same goes for music support or movie downloads, its all Itunes and crap like hat and because Apple has the rights they dominate the market making it hard for any other tablet brand to get a foot on the ground, good luck Microsoft! |

| I would be so happy if could play XBLA games on a tablet or even PC. I cannot see how the back catalogue of games already released would work as they would all require some kind of update or perhaps even a complete rebuild but it would be nice to see all future titles cross platform. Fingers crossed. |
