I'm not against co-op in RPGs when they are implemented from the start, and aren't rushed out as a way to micro-transact the hell out of your fan-base. If they add multiplayer to an already established franchise, like The Witcher, then I fear CD Projekt Red will go the way of BioWare.Friday, July 27, 2012 @ 07:59 AM
@ #1; I agree with you on all points... esp the Resi 5 comment! Your User Name ... Welsh Dragon ... did you used to frequent the UK board of Gamefaqs?Friday, July 27, 2012 @ 08:05 AM
Co-op is ok....unwanted and forced MP is not ok.Friday, July 27, 2012 @ 08:06 AM
I think you only need to look at Dark Souls and Dragons's Dogma to realise RPG's and online CAN mix .Friday, July 27, 2012 @ 08:12 AM
@5 too true.Friday, July 27, 2012 @ 08:18 AM
I still find it strange that companies feel the need to justify themselves to the internet this early on in the dev cycle of a game - before they really even know anything. I know people are nosey buggers but this whole shitstorm has come about on the back of a job posting???Friday, July 27, 2012 @ 08:18 AM
I fully put my trust with CD Project. Witcher2 was the most incredible RPG I've ever played. I'd be crazy to doubt what they plan to do.Friday, July 27, 2012 @ 09:02 AM
@5 That's only if the game was made with co-op in mind from the start. Those two are examples of that.Friday, July 27, 2012 @ 09:06 AM
@7 Late or early in the dev cycle, sometimes people will dig things up. More often than not, the things turn out to be true. We already knew Mass Effect 3 was getting some sort of MP.Friday, July 27, 2012 @ 09:38 AM
Multiplayer in the Witcher ehh gives me an uneasy feeling. I will however still give it a chance because the 2nd was a masterpiece.Friday, July 27, 2012 @ 10:10 AM
So a clarification that doesn't clarify shit. Interesting I'm actually REALLY excited for Cyberpunk, if I'm being honest more than Witcher 3 (and that's saying a lot considering how much I love the Witcher 2).Friday, July 27, 2012 @ 10:11 AM
Yeah, there will be multiplayer, and it's gonna be called "World of Witcher"Friday, July 27, 2012 @ 11:27 AM
The Witcher doesn't need a MpFriday, July 27, 2012 @ 11:49 AM
Can't say I'm overly excited about MP in Witcher 3. Witcher 2 is a fantastic game so far for me, and takes away from being the protaganist and sole hero. It might work, it might not. Either way, in RPG's, I prefer to play solo. Cyberpunk I've never heard of. So will keep an eye on that.Friday, July 27, 2012 @ 02:11 PM
Not every game has to have MP , a lack of MP did not stop me from sinking 180 hrs+ into Fallout 3. Bolting MP onto SP games does not equal more sales or longevity , if your going to do MP it would good if some thought was put into it rather than giving us a rubbish horde/fps/co-op experienceFriday, July 27, 2012 @ 03:24 PM
@17 That's why their hiring someone to see what shape MP could take. What a joke, hey maybe a large corporation could hire me so I could tell them what shape their annual earnings could look like next year, or what management structure shape they could adopt and throw money at me for it. I totally agree with you, MP is not necessary in every game. Yet developers are probably feeling the push from publishers who in turn don't give a shit about the crap they put on shelves.Saturday, July 28, 2012 @ 10:25 AM
yay another singleplayer-game gets raped to be impregnated with multiplayer gaming.Sunday, July 29, 2012 @ 03:14 AM
ME3 successfully integrated MP into its arena, so if it is done as tastefully as that I can't see why people would complain.Sunday, July 29, 2012 @ 07:52 AM
I personally prefer a New Game + in Witcher 3 rather than a multiplayer.Sunday, July 29, 2012 @ 02:22 PM
If they add Mp its because alot of gamers think its a basic thing that every game needs a MP these days. I have nothing against MP realy, but i rather see a few more good co-op games then a slammed in MP just to keep the majority of gamers happy. Its been awhile that there was a proper co-op game, and then i mean one where you start from begin to end with a friend and not some added missions you can do after the campaign.Sunday, July 29, 2012 @ 07:25 PM
The "K" in Projekt is so much better than just spelling it with a "C". Its raw. Rawer. From the streets and so forth. Like that sh*tty band Linkoln Park.

CD Projekt RED has moved to clarify the assumption that The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk will definitely feature multiplayer.
Michal Platkow-Gilewski, head of marketing, said that the job advert revealed yesterday is for someone to come on board and decide just what shape multiplayer could take in their upcoming games.
"As for the job ad: this post should be named Multiplayer/Online Programmer," said Platkow-Gilewski. "I don't want to comment on what this guy will create, it's way too early.
"We want to bring to the team someone experienced in this field to evaluate our concepts and ideas. He will be one of backbone elements of our R&D.
"We believe that there's still a lot of space for innovation in the RPG genre. At this stage of our games' development, we want to explore all possible directions, check what would be cool, what's feasible and - always the most important for us - what suits our games the best."
The Multiplayer Programmer job advert, unearthed yesterday, called for a new staff member to "prepare our engine for challenges of upcoming online component of our future games", which probably means, "prepare our engine for the upcoming challenges of adding an online component to our future games".
The Witcher 3 has not been officially announced yet. Cyberpunk, however, has. It’s a new RPG based on Mike Pondsmith's classic pen and paper role playing series from the 80s. It’s aiming for 2014/2015 release.
