DICE has revealed the first details for Aftermath, the fourth DLC expansion for Battlefield 3.

Aftermath will feature four maps set across the crumbling remains of a post-earthquake Tehran, encouraging vertical and horizontal urban combat. According to EA, we should expect heavily modified troop transports and civilian vehicles adapted for combat.

In addition to this, you’ll also get new game modes, achievements, dog tags and assignments.

Aftermath is due out in December 2012. It will be included with Battlefield Premium. You’ll find some concept art below.

So we're going to see maps with even more brown? Yippie.

I wish BF3 had more snow/jungle themed maps. I thought I saw a snowy one in Armored Kill, but it's not enough for me.

@4 I would love some snow or jungle themed maps. I'd love some more tactical maps, too.

I'm probably going to get hate for this but I really am bored of this game, I thought Bad Company 2 was better tbh, I'll probably pass on the DLC and just wait for the new Battlefield to come out lol.

No point, since nobody plays the DLC. I can barely find a game on a Karkand map let alone anything that would come out afterwards. BF Premium is a complete joke, too. It's just raping consumers who aren't smart enough to know better. I can't say CoD Elite is much different, but at least that came out with the game and was more clear about its objectives.

And @8, I completely agree. BFBC2 was much better. Balance-wise, overall enjoyment, and the visual layout.

I really like how DICE are handling the DLC. Giving us bigger better packages at a slower rate rather than just churning out a new map every month. The best thing about them is that they all seem to be vastly different from each other giving us a good change of pace and tactics. Personally i welcomed the hectic pace of close quarters and cant wait to see the giant maps of armoured kill. What interests me most about aftermath is the fact that DICE have said the terrain will literally transform during combat which could lead to some epic set pieces. Keep it coming I say! Battlefield 3 continues to impress me and surpass my expectations, great game!

@9, seriously, you cant find a game on a karkand map? have you tried looking for official Dice servers? When i was playing last night all the Karkand servers in my favourites list were full or very close to.

@12

completely agree, I have never had any trouble finding a game in battlefield 3 no matter which game mode or map I decide to search for. Especially with a server browser!

@10 Ya, I'm not sure exactly what it is about BF3 but I just don't find it as competitive.

I don't actually have a problem with premium. Along with being a season pass, you also get access to a huge amount of free cosmetic DLC.

The art throws me off abit. The snow map also makes me wonder "where" it takes place.

Needs some MC, BF and BF2 remix maps. Harvest Day more like the original one. Black Gold from Modern Combat. The demo maps everyone played the piss out of, Bridge Too Far, Oasis, Port Valdez. I honestly don't like many BF3 maps. There isn't one that stands out very well. Operation Metro just doesn't do anything for me.

@23: On the Premium hub at Battlelog, Aftermath was listed as having new weapons. So they may not have decided what will be in it yet, but I'm hoping it's still the case.

@23 - new assignments generally equals new weapons (like B2K and CQ) unless they only unlock camos or something.

I really can not wrap my head around some of the comments of people. "Premium is a waste of time", "I can't find any matches", "Nobody plays this anymore"... c'mon, really? False, false, and false. Do you people even understand the concept of the server browser? I will agree that BC2 was a more fun game overall, but not for some of the reasons people are saying (prone? really?). To me it comes down to one thing - destruction. The fun of blowing up four walls on a building and getting destruction 2.0 kills is a no-show in BF3. This is the main downfall of this game.

First: there was a lotta shit going on during WWII, hence the loud background.
Second: Concept art. nuff said. art that someone drew up in what they thought the maps will looks like.
