| people complain that they release something simple like skins and charge for them. I hope you know that Microsoft like to have new things added to games at a price. This being the case Minecraft releases skins that cost that way they can add important things like pistons, creative mode, slims etc to the game for free in the updates. Meaning they are keeping Microsoft happy and the consumer. So please people stop the complaining. |

good, the original PC release was only relevant for a few months before everyone started cheating with Mods to "quick fix" the idea of actually playing the game manually, same crap that happened with SIMS. which means its only a matter of time before you start seeing ppl with modded 360's(which everyone in a COD lobby has a 1 in 16 chance of playing with) will start modding this game and take them away from possibly infecting a game i might want to play online without cheaters. |

You're probably one of those idiots who pays $400 for a phone, but whines about a $2 add on that isn't required in any way -_- I love when cheap bastards use the "brainwashed" argument to seem cool. Ya know what? $2 is worth a good laugh. Ever join someone's peaceful game using the creeper skin and stood right behind them? That's worth $2 alone. Go play with your Iphone and drink your daily 5-hour energy -_- since those things are such a better waste of money. |

@1 - Be glad it's just skins. Skins are entirely ok as "purchasable DLC" because they're just for personalisation and only have a small effect. Imagine if they made us pay for what's included in title updates. I think there'd be a more legitimate argument there. But for something small that has NO effect on gameplay or on a large enough scale (e.g. Texture Packs or whatever)? It's fair enough. |

Okay, for the first few comments: The skin pack costs 160 MSP, and it gives you 40 skins. FORTY. That's a lot for two dollars. If mommy and daddy can't swing it, maybe you should sell your Xbox. This attitude is NOT the reason that Minecraft is $20. The reason the game is $20 is because Mojang knew how well the game was going to sell, given that about 6.7 million copies have sold on the PC for a price tag of $26.95. Most likely, Mojang wanted to go higher but Microsoft disallowed it. People pissed and moaned about how this game selling so well at $20 was going to drive up the price of arcade games. Well, guess what: Tony Hawk, which was a wildly popular game when it came out, just released this past Wednesday for $15. Oooh... doesn't it hurt to be wrong all the time? |

I think some people have already pointed it out as well, but just to reiterate: We're STILL behind (in cost) compared to the computer version. If you want free stuff, go play the PC version. If $2 for a 40+ skin pack breaks your wallet, go get a job and stop staying at home, mooching off your parents. Or better yet, just go away. |
|

@#60 Ok...I find the skins to be useless because they don't add to the core experience. A lot of people wanted them, so they were added. I'd personally rather take content updates before aesthetics. Microsoft had a lot of influence in the price of this game, like all other games. Now...Microsoft charges developers whenever they upload a patch to a game. Minecraft, being a game that is constantly improved, would require a lot of patches. So a deal was struck between Microsoft and Majong. Microsoft got the exclusives to the game and determined the price, and 4J Studios gets an "X" amount of free updates. This is also why 4J Studios is trying to pack as much as they can into each update. The skins don't count toward this because they have a price tag. Majong didn't sell all 6 million-plus copies for $26.95. A good chunk of that number was accrued when the game was in Alpha/Beta versions, i.e., the price was cheaper. Not to mention that the "official" release of Minecraft for the PC had substantially more content when compared to the Xbox version. So naturally it would cost a little more. As for the increase in arcade game prices...it's been happening for a while. Way back when, 400 MS points($5) for an arcade game was normal. Then it jumped to 800 MS points($10). Now it's at 1200 MS points($15). Following the pattern, 1600 MS points($20) will eventually be the new normal. Granted...the quality of the games are increasing as well. |

| @23 No not really, I got Minecraft on PC for 15 dollars back while ago and now it is 20, Xbox costs 20 dollars, so no, the PC one isn't more expensive, also on the PC you get mods and way more updates, plus you don't have to pay for skin packs lol, don't get me wrong, the Xbox version is fun but it is not cheaper. |
|

Forum Posts: 0 | Comment #65 by asilent boom Saturday, July 21, 2012 @ 06:37:06 PM | |
| @63 The thing about those price increases of XBLA games was that the size of the XBLA games also increased. When it was 400pts the size limit for XBLA games was 50MB, when it was 800pts it was around 150MB, and so on. The thing is the size of XBLA games won't be getting any larger, 2GB is the limit and it can't be increased anymore unless MS overhauls the XBLA system, and MS won't be doing that because of Games on Demand. There will be a few 1600pt games every once in a while, but it won't become the normal price point. |

all the people bitching about the skin pack, you dont have to buy it but also dont fucking moan, some of the most popular games on consoles have microtransactions such as fifa, what do you think your doing buying packs on UT, and people think that this is why notch is pumping out skin packs, EA make thousands of packs each and everyday and due to this do stupid things to get more money, such as putting mictransactions into things such as Mass Effect 3. My 2p is that i like the idea of paying a little amount of money to increase the amount of things i can do with my game, which i will happily pay for, and if the ones moaning cant afford it then, STFU AND STOP POSTING COMMENTS ON SOMETHING WHICH REALLY DOESNT CONCERN YOU :) |

| I just think they need to get that adventure update out the door. Not allowing worlds to convert to that new format (though makes sense) is a chore of building up a vast kingdom implementing rules into said kingdom then have fun governing it with friends and family. The adventure updates restricts those who would want the most out of there game to wait for their "purchase" all the way till August. I downloaded both skin packs on day one and I was relieved it had a wide variety so the DLC they ARE pumping out for the game I could care less for as long as they continue to really keep people in the know of the updates then I'm sure Minecraft will became even more successful in the months coming. |

@ the moaners and bitchers. M$ don't sit there with a gun to your heads forcing you to buy dlc, skin packs or whatever. If you don't like it don't buy it. But STFU about it coz some of us are happy to pay a little extra to add a little extra to our games. It's all about personal choice and that's why things like skins are offered. The world is full of idiots with nothing better to do than cry about a company wanting to make money. On a positive note, well done to Mojang and 4J studios. Minecraft has brought me many many hours of enjoyment and relaxation. I for one am glad to see this game do so well! |

@ #80 I was pretty much just about to say the same thing. I totally agree, if you don't like it don't pay but I for one don't mind paying like £1 for a skin pack. People also need to accept that different people prefer different things to play on. I much prefer to play on the xbox 'cause I'd rather use a controller and there's nothing wrong it, people need to just get over themselves. I love that Minecraft was brought out on the xbox it was a great idea so props to Mojang, 4J studios and of course Notch for the great game. |
