New Tomb Raider: Underworld Screens Emerge

New Tomb Raider: Underworld Screens Emerge
Written Friday, June 20, 2008 by Dan Webb

It's been a while since we've heard from Eidos and Miss Croft, the last time was when we previewed the game for the site back in February. Thankfully, that period of silence was broken today as Eidos announced the official release of a Tomb Raider portal and the release of two new screens.

The portal is "a destination for fans of the series to find the latest news, art, and announcements." It also has a Tomb Raider podcast as well as a array of "awesome" prizes to win.

Tomb Raider: Underworld is slated for a November 2008 release on all platforms.

If you take all the good gameplay AND multiplayer away from Halo 3 but still have all the fan boys going nuts about it, the Tomb Raider Franchise would STILL be more over rated than Halo. Death to Lara Croft.

Never was a big fan. Kinda found it boring just jumping around rocks and puzzles.

Looking forward to it, Angel of Darkness and Legend were both garbage, but Eidos being the smart people that they are finally decided to drop a slipping Core Design and take on Crystal Dynamics for Anniversary, which just showed for a starting team working on a series for a first time that they had a lot of good ideas on how to revive the title to its classic days.

Title looks very reminiscent of TRII which was always my favourite, as for comparing Halo to TR...thats just retarded, comparing a no brain FPS to a puzzle solving 3rd person...hmm

Ive liked everyone but Angel of Darkness. Bleak name for a Bleak game. Other than that Ive loved the ones on 360 by Crystal Dynamics. I own them on both PC and 360. Cant wait for this one.

I like Tomb Raider titles a lot (well, the most recent ones) and will certainly get this as soon as it is out. All these people who complain here simply haven't tried any Tomb Raider title or just plain suck at them. I suck at Halo 3 yet I don't rant how crap it is (which, I guess it isn't).

Do some research. Read reviews. The most recent Tomb Raider titles have gotten fair scores. Sure, it ain't no Call of Duty or Halo but hey, it's a different title to check out this year. I'll certainly be buying because I loved Tomb Raider: Anniversary. I got the full set of achievements on both titles and would very much hope I get them on Tomb Raider: Underworld too.

I was never into TR, but I have to admit, I have played and enjoyed the last 2 TR games, so I will most likely check this one out too.

Legend was made by Crystal Dynamics as well ;)

All being well achievements will be more challenging then the last 2 as they wasn't that difficult to get 1000 on. But hey don't go making it 2 tough ;)

Looking at my case I see it was made by CD too heh-heh, still, I didn't enjoy it that much, found it to be a bit too easy and far too short, but Anniversary, I loved that, was pure nostalgia and I can't wait, hopefully Underworld will be a sequel to Legend but play much more like Anniversary gameplay mechanics and puzzle wise!

Let's hope this game isn't as buggy as Anniversary was... I can't even be assed to attempt the time trials in that game because half of the time you fall to your death instead of grabbing a ledge like you were supposed to.

27, 28, 37:

The size of her boobs are ridiculous and don't match her character. First of all, they would get in the way in her climbing and jumping. Second, she is actually smart, strong, and well written so she is cool since she isn't a typical video game girl. Then you look down and she has these huge cartoon titties that just ruin her. Third, they are just making her a sex symbol and taking the focus off of the great game.

Have you ever seen a girl with boobs that big in real life? They either 1. Walk funny or 2. The boobs swing around even if she has a bra on.

So yeah I just think they don't match her. But it is something you just got to deal with.

Legend was pretty good, I never bothered with Anniversary but this looks like it would be worth buying.

Now back onto the breats. I'm shocked it took 26 comments before they were mentioned. It might sound immature but one of the iconic features of Tomb Raider has, and always will be, Lara's breasts. But I seem to remember there was a video/review/something that mentioned how the developers wanted to make her look more realistic for Legend by making those sweater puppies smaller.

And as for getting in the way, wouldn't her pony tail do the same?

Yeah but they are the same size and Legend has her most revealing clothes in the series.

No, I don't think so. Since it is in a pony tail, it wouldn't get in her face. She is mostly jumping and climbing so it couldn't get caught in anything either.

they should finish the story they started in tomb raider legend and come out with a tomb raider legend 2 or something along those lines. if the dont n just leave it how it ended in legend that would be the ultimate disgrace to fans of the game and the franchise.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
