Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012)

Need for Speed Movie Set For February 2014 Release

Disney and Dreamworks Studios have set a date for the release of the Need for Speed movie and it's during the period typically reserved for a move also-rans. Clearly, the studios aren't expecting big things from the film, as it's been plonked in the February release slot.

It won't be a summer blockbuster or a sleeper winter hit then, and with Act of Valor director, Scott Waugh at the helm, early indications aren't particularly encouraging for the Need for Speed movie. But then it is a video game tie-in movie, so what were you expecting?

Next up in the series is Criterion's Need for Speed: Most Wanted, which will be releasing on October 30th, 2012. The Need for Speed movie on the other hand, will be launching on February 7th, 2014.

Out of the 3 film adoptions this week, This is sure to be the shittest.

This Scott Waugh chap doesn't even have a wiki page.

Even my mate Dan has a wiki page for holding a yogurt eating record. Poor effort that Scott.

I actually enjoyed Battleship as an action flick to fill a Tuesday afternoon. Not a golden globe movie, but enjoyable for me at the least.

@19 It's definitely an odd choice for a film adeptation considering there's no running plot or reoccuring characters throughout the series; it's only popular in title alone. That said, it might not be the worst we've seen since there's no real continuity to "mess up" so to speak.

Ahh, February. The month all major studios send out shit films to die a horrible death. I'd imagine this would not make money at all.

Actually the dumping grounds for bad movies are January (Post-Oscars) and September (Post-summer). Get your facts straight.
However this certainly has a pedigree behind it that'll guarantee bollocks regardless of release window.

??? There isn't any real plot to the NFS series. Hell, you could make a Fast n Furious film, rename it NFS and Voila!! So i wonder how they'll approach this...

@20, Oh the irony.

OT: This movie it too little, too late. It'll just be Fast and Furious without the meathead Vin Diesel. I can't really see how any good could come of this.

Videogame-to-movie adaptation + the most overrated and repetitive racing game in history + movie release in the "crap movie time of the year" = one shitty azz movie (ala "BloodRayne" movie?)

not to mention NFS games have some of the cheesiest and retarded cutscenes and acting I've seen in a videogame, and I'm sure whoever's making this movie will be taking some inspiration from that..... I'd rather watch my old greasy neighbor water her garden in a bikini than pay $11 to see this
